  1. Hey that's a car that would be useful in 1to1. In summer it could sweep the gravel off the highways and in winter......what a snow plow. LOL I picked up one of these kits a couple of months ago and don't know what to do with it so very happy to see some different treatments for the model, thanks.
  2. This model is a bit of a dog isn't it! The Monogram kit looks overscale and the AMT one has all kinds of fit issues from the separate tail light fins, thick windshield, front tire location etc. Good effort on a far from good kit.
  3. Very creative use for one of these show rods. I can't help but be impressed by your creative ideas.
  4. WOW....beautiful custom !! Your exterior color combination makes this model really pop.
  5. I like it....a lot!!

    Triumph TR 2

Nice build. I love the GS kits and have built several and they often do cars that no one else does. I wish they're reissue all of these small sports car kits. I did the GS TR3 a few years ago after giving up on building the Minicraft version. My most recent Gunze build was to convert their Citroen 2CV into a 2CV panel van.
  7. To spend more time sitting at the model bench and less time sitting at the computer desk. These model newsgroups are way too addictive.
  8. When I was growing up I bought most of my models at a locally owned stationary store. During the Christmas season they sold toys in the basement but that stock was kept quite low the rest of the year and the basement usually closed off. Despite the season they always seemed to have had a nice selection of kits , mostly Frog & Airfix which was fine since I was mostly into military in the '60s. Decades later I remet the owner of the store, now an elderly man who told me that he remembered me well.
  9. I built this kit way back when and as I recall a lot of the parts of it don't fit all that well, but then back in the late '60s I wasn't that great a modeller so maybe it is a better kit then I recall. Either way have fun and I'll look forward to your posts on this build.
  10. Love it! It's always nice to see the prewar classics being built.
  11. Quit watching it a long time ago because it was getting so stupid but did catch a bit of a couple of shows this year and quickly realized it hadn't improved. I won't even notice its not there and some other lame reality show is bound to take its place. Perhaps we could interest Discovery into doing one about building models. We would have swearing when something didn't go right or we lost a part in the carpet, two modellers could fight over what color to paint a model then argue over who gets to use the good airbrush and just think of the drama involved between two judges deciding who wins the contest and the anger of the loser who figures his was the best and should have won hands down, the possibilities for drama are nearly limitless.

    Ice ManX

Always wondered what could be done to this kit to really make it distinct, you've found a way. Great job!! I love it.
  13. What silver did you use? I've always wanted to tackle this kit but worried about doing the silver then damaging that finish when I got to the decal step. Yours looks darn good.

    F355

The 355, my favorite Ferrari. I've spent quite a bit of time building both the coupe and the conv right down to cutting open the engine grills and correcting the interior inaccuracies but I'd be proud to have yours sitting beside mine in a display. Love the paint job.
  15. You can park that in my driveway any day.......what you mean it's not real!! Beautiful work!
  16. For me it was Model Express which unfortunately is shutting down as of the end of the year. I haven't found a new one yet.
  17. Clean build, beautiful paint job. It's nice to see a coupe being built with the roof off many don't go this extra mile.
  18. If you find one let us all know. I'm really going to miss Dennis as well. BTW, the link to elm city didn't work. It would be very nice to find one in Canada since it eliminates some unnecessary problems among which are speed of delivery. rob
  19. Beautiful colour combination and an impressive display of your building abilities.
  20. Came out very nice.
  21. When I was working I could go six months in a row without even going in my model room so the completion rate was 1 or 2 a year. When I retired I figured I'd starting making a major dint in my unbuilt collection......well my completion rate has gone up to around 10 a year but I'm still buying more then that number so the dint never occured.
  22. Didn't get anything new that I could sit and fondle but had a phone call from one of my two local hobby shops (this one only 250 miles away) that my kit of the Munster House had arrived. Don't we all do wierd projects from time to time. I also ordered some kits from Hobby Link for my "Vehicles only an Owner would love collection", things like a Cube and the Daihatsu Copen, at least they have four wheels.
  23. Looks like it just came off the track. Well done.
  24. I drove a '76 Nova Concours for several years and never thought to even take a picture of my real car let alone try to build a model of it.
  25. I have built a pair of floor to ceiling corner shelf units on either side of the door into my basement "man cave". Each unit is about seven foot tall by seven foot long with about seven shelves per unit. The shelves are a combination of the prefinished 12" wide wood shelves that you can buy at any big box home store with a glass shelf in between each. Sheets of clear acrylic panels attached to the front of each unit keep the dust out. While these units are certainly not furniture quality it doesn't really matter since few other then myself use this room. They also hold a lot of models and promos, in excess of 250 at the moment, which are on display and in a relatively dust free environment. It always seemed to be a shame to put in all the effort of building a model then hiding it away in its original box.
