I love it when someone builds one of these kits that everyone has either forgotten or considers too old to build. I was a fan of Matchbox in the '70s because they were willing to do kits of vehicles / aircraft that no other company would ever consider doing.Good job and well done!

Iwata Smart Jet Compressor Review
robertw replied to Don Wheeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Excellent review and website. Being a long time user of Badger I've bookmarked it and I'm sure I'll return to it from time to time. Since my current compressor is over 30 years old I've been thinking that it is time to upgrade, I'm going to have to take a close look at this Iwata. robw -
Tamiya Paints - hard to get
robertw replied to jjsipes's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd heard the TS-13 rumour at least a month ago and checked with my LHS. He immediately picked up the phone and called his distributor, they'd heard nothing about this rumour and basically denied it. Since then he's gone through lots of tamiya on his racks, including Clear (I picked up a couple of cans of it less then 2 weeks ago). rob -
Looks very nice! This one is a winner in my books. Have the Revell kit in the stash but haven't had the motivation to start on it but seeing yours just might do it. rob
-
Very nice build and love the color.

Have both the Gunze version of this car and the new Revell Germany kit. If I can figure out away to make corrugated plastic I'll turn one of the kits into the Citroen 2CV panel van.
-
And you built one of the rare 6 cylinder cars. Only 7 out of 700 cars in '55 had the stove bolt six installed from the factory.

It's a shame to leave a GT 350 in that rusted out shape, perhaps for next year you can do a body off restoration on the car.

This is the first time I've seen one of the Arii Vette kits built and yours turned out better then I've been told you can achieve with that kit. I notice you've had the same problem with the '85 hood as I had, it just doesn't want to fit properly on one side. Mt favorite is your '57, nice and low the classic Vette colour and that great roadster shape. Your '75 is not far behind on my, "hey I like list." I look forward to seeing your '63 when it is restored. rob

I got a great airbrush deal at Michaels
robertw replied to philo426's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's a great deal. I had to replace my 200 about a month ago when my old one failed in the middle of a project. Could only find one in my part of the province, cost was $160. Pay or do without, my plastic budget is now zero for the next month or more. rob -
HOW DO YOU ARCHIVE YOUR BUILDS--A POLL
robertw replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have two binders. The first is called the Build Notes and I do a write up on each build, some history on what it is, problems in the build, notes on what I did, paint I used etc. My second binder was done because I assumed that some day the actual models might not be around and I wanted to remember what I'd built over the years For it I use the photo albums that take the pages that will hold the four 4x6 pictures. One 4x6 pocket takes a typed up card containing a brief history behind the model (I build a/c as well as cars), when the model was built, kit used, scale, paint used and whatever other info I want. This card is a short version of what I have in the build notes. (I know, unnecessary duplication). The other three pockets on the page will hold photos of the model. rob -
Nine cars built already, I have trouble finishing that many in a year. I do like your build, too few people build the plain Jane family grocery getters and this is a poster child for that class of auto.

Love the dark metallic red paint, but then I'm a sucker for all red cars.

A giant earthworm just beginning to arch it's back. They need to put a sign on it, "Front", " Back "

This ain't your father's Amphicar!
robertw replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Calm water, didn't go far from shore. First ship larger then a row boat would run over this thing like a beer can and not even see it. This is proof of the adage, "just because you can, doesn't mean you should"! -
your work bench
robertw replied to dabelltoller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a strange work bench. The further I get into the project the work bench surace begins to disappear and sometimes it's a real race as to whether the project will be finished before the work space totally disappears and when the latter happens I'll even have trouble finding what I was working one. LOL -
I'm with you on that Harry but I'd like to add all logos, emblems & names to be on the decal sheet or even better as p/e. Hand painting or foiling never seems to work for me.
-
I wish businesses would go back to this. The cost of shipping from the US to Canada has pretty much put me off buying anything from US shops. I have an order coming right now from HLJ, shipping is the same cost as one model purchased through ebay. P.S. I'm totally through buying anything on ebay. rob

Very....Very nice. This would be a great model whether it was your first model or your hundredth. If I were to assume that the color scheme/decals were influenced by the fact that your wife is a woman I can but commend her. The model has a look that many male modellers might not think of doing but it works. I'm sure I can speak for everyone here...... we can't wait to see her next project.

Dreaming of a model?
robertw replied to jmpsebring's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oh not another Revell Germany bus....I still haven't got their last two built. Christian, With all the time you spend "dreaming", how do you find time to build any of them. LOL All kidding aside you've portrayed many of the cars that a lot of us would love to see on a model box for real. Thanks robw -
Erik: If you'd like the two figures from the kit (the girl was missing) leave me a message. As I said in my initial post I'm only interested in the car. rob

Whether it is car building, auction shows, picking shows etc all of these shows seem to fall into a quickly recognizable format and procedure. Isn't it amazing how different" realities" can all be so much alike. It's time for TV to go back to sitcoms and cowboy shows, you get a laugh and the good guy always wins. There is a lot of truth to the idea of the "500 channel universe, but nothing to watch". rob

Erik, I noticed the other day that ModelExpress had this kit, are you the one that got it? You never know what Dennis will get in, which is why I check his site every day. About a week ago I got from him a strange little Gunze kit which included thee cartoon like Japanese figures and a Messerschmitt Kr-200. One of the figures was missing but since I'd bought the kit to get the Kr-200 it wasn't a problem. rob

any clubs close to South Dakota?
robertw replied to wraith's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
I'm not from there but I believe there may be a club in the Rapid City area, there is a well stocked hobby shop there and I've seen ads for an annual model contest. robw -
That is a beautiful and well detailed kit for an old 1/32 scale Airfix kit.
