  1. Not sure, but is the loop for the steering? If so, then I'd think it goes to the front. Don't know if it's up or down, you'd have to test fit it.
  2. At least you're following along, so you've still got that interest. Next step, build something!
  3. Funny thing is, you see the front of the car expecting to see a whole vehicle and then - nothing - and what's there looks like it's floating on just 2 wheels. Strange indeed!
  4. Saw these online and said "Whattha?!" Then an idea molded into my cranium, "Here's what to do with those junker 4x4 pickups and derelict Olds Toronados!" These are Float plane launchers and apparently they are common in the Great White North and Alaska. They rely only on the front drive wheels, so the rest of the vehicle is simply chopped off. But boy are they weird and interesting. Any opinions? Anyone want to build one?
  5. I say - white or black. Red would be an acquired taste, and you don't want to mess up this beautiful build on a "trendy" stripe. Once it's on, you can't take it off!
  6. Looks cool so far, now use the leftover 55 Nomad parts to make a gasser 56.
  7. At least this one has a donor kit, just start with the reissued Honcho. Same truck, different grille. BTW, I know it's not a Pickup, but it is a truck I'd like to see a kit of....
  8. Yeah, but where does the trailer go?
  9. I remember this from Dr. Dimento radio program back in the late 70s. Never saw the video until now. Bizarre! Thanks for sharing.
  10. Just a thought, if acetate is wood based, do you think a paint stripper that is safe for removing paint from wood surfaces is gentle enough for it? What about Murphy's oil soap, or other wood cleaners? How about Pine Sol or simple ammonia based cleaners like glass cleaner?
  11. I would love to see this series of kits reissued, but as I've already seen the company's do, they keep pricing everything at $30 no matter how old or simple the kit is. I guess they think "1/25 = $30, Cha-ching!" At that price they'd be shooting themselves in the foot. Why can't they give us a midrange price of old kits that we could indulge in without guilt? They'd sell more and we could afford to buy them for what they really are, old, simple kits that have been paid for since the Carter administration.
  12. Most of the time, folks have used the headlight buckets from the easily found Johan 75 Cutlass snapper. But if you don't have that, then go through the ol' parts box and see what you have that's similar in shape. Chevelle headlights have a basic shape that's pretty universal. I was able to use 77 Monte Carlo stacked, square headlights on a 76 El Camino project I've been working on, and they look right on! BTW, the complete interior from the 77 Monte Carlo is perfect for the Chevelle. They were both exactly the same!
  13. This kit looks like so much fun, I hope to find one to build one day. Great job on yours!
  14. Looks good, it's a very contemporary build and still looks as good today as it did back then. Too bad you couldn't have saved the decals, they fit the theme of the car.
  15. Don't forget to bend the wheels down so the car goes faster on the track! I like the theme, that would be an awesome group build project. "Hot wheels in 1/25". Contestants would have to match the wheels, colors and graphics of the original cars.
  16. Compared to the disaster it was when you started, you did a great job finishing it. I'm glad you stuck with it and didn't give up!
  17. You gotta call it "The Caddypillar" and Cat yellow paint is a must! ?
  18. Isn't it great when you find good stuff you forgot you had? It's like Christmas came early! Looks like you could use the "Ghost of the Red Barron" when Atlantis reissues it next year. Happy Building! P.S. That coffee mug, right on the edge of the table scares me!
  19. This kit reminds me of this kit... Why does Revell still think that altering a tool into a radical, mailslot chop is a good idea? Grrrr.
  20. Me too, let's do more!
  21. Snake, I like it! If you don't do it on this chassis, do it on another. It looks too cool not to do.
  22. Considering that it still has a trunk lid and what looks like tracks on the side, I would have to say "yes"
  23. Anybody have any experience using paint thinner, lacquer thinner, vinegar or even moonshine? I'm curious to know what is safe and what is not.
