  1. Kind of like orange 69 Chargers, huh?
  2. I would even like to see AMT do "pseudo-retro" promo-type kits of the 74-77 Camaro, 74-76 Trans Am, 63-64 Riviera, 71-76 Impala/Caprice, or even 68-69 Impala. Instead of wasting tooling dollars on "Snap Fast Slammers" like Black Force or Rod Rageous thingy cars or yet another late model Camaro or Mustang snapper. But that's just me.
  3. Well, I like the idea, Snake. I'd like to see a snapper 71-72 Chevelle to go with the new 69 glue kit or the oft issued 70. A 69 Firebird to go with the 69 Camaro Z28. A stock 80's Cadillac sedan for the lowrider coupe. Or how about a "flip of the coin", a full kit 70s collonade Chevelle Malibu to convert the 77 Monte Carlo to stock. I'd buy a bunch.
  4. If you're into scratchbuilding, you could find a Ford 351 Cleveland engine (70 Mach 1?) and build one. The Tilt kit (Marui) has an opening hatch and rudimentary engine detail, but at least it's a start.
  5. My advice, Plan for all of your cuts and splices BEFORE you ever touch the saw to either kit! No sense butchering 2 kits without a set of plans. Measure carefully, consider multiple way to perform the conversion and try to anticipate any unforseen complications. Then when you do start cutting, using the precision of a surgeon, trim carefully, trying to get the parts to match as closely as possible. When the parts match well, only at that point is it time for glue. Try to minimize sloppy, weak joints. They just lead to grief and too much filling and sanding. Plus, I find it encouraging to see a completed job that doesn't have random splotches all over it from bodywork. Good luck, shiw us how it's going.
  6. Try this gentleman, he's designing a huge catalogue of great decal sheets and he takes suggestions.
  7. Looks real nice, great job.
  8. Welcome to the world of model cars. I know that military and aircraft modelers create some incredibly detailed models. Can't wait to see your builds, please post 'em when you've got 'em.
  9. You can line them up as you want them BEFORE applying them to the model. Less risk of damaging the paintjob and decal will let you adjust the entire image to exactly where you want it. Closely trim the clear, seal it with Solvaset and finally clear coat to finish it.
  10. Try applying the transfers to a clear decal sheet and then apply it as a decal to the model.
  11. I remember being excited about buying this Mustang, thinking it was the MPC kit on the box. Only to find out it was the AMT kit - and not even stock! I stopped buying RC2 kits after that. Truth in advertising indeed, not with this one. I doubt the MPC kit still exists as stock, pretty sure it became the pro stock/pro street version at the end of the annual run. Too bad, as it's much better than the AMT kit is.
  12. Great stuff, I wish I had that kind of talent and tenacity to build like this!
  13. You're not too far off! Looks just like this one.... Or try this alternative taillight treatment...
  14. Or the "Blue Oyster Club" to see the Village People.
  15. C2 Corvettes came with disc brakes, never had drums.
  16. Just went today and found a few model car "stragglers" located at the very top of the shelves - where they put the overstock. I bought another 76 Torino kit (for $14!) - can't have too many, I've got lots of different ideas for them.
  17. Yep, it's on a different aisle from the model stuff.
  18. Hurry the coupon is only good until the 22nd. Even if they don't have kits, they might have something else you can use. I'm going to get some resin casting supplies. Merry Christmas, everyone.
  19. I miss Vin Scully, he was the "voice" of Dodger Baseball around here.
  20. Remember when her nick name was "Queen of Nice"? Then something snapped.
  21. I've thought about trying to do that, but I can't figure out how to mix and match the two for a cohesive blend. The front fenders have me stumped so far.
  22. The problem with the MPC Camaro body is the wheelwell openings and flairs are too small and too low. I've read the problem here is that the 69 Camaro annual kit came directly from the 68 annual and that the side crease is actually too low for a 69. You'd have to channel out a slice from above the crease and move the side up. Then you'd have to add material to the bottom of the door/rocker panel area to make up for the loss. Not sure if the 69 Firebird has these same issues or not, it doesn't look as bad to my eye.
  23. That explains it, Brad does good artwork for cars.
  24. Round 2 seems to have a great graphic department that has a good feel for the products they're selling.
  25. One of my favorites is Terminator 2, when the guy on the motorcycle is practically being run over by Arnold in his BIG RIG SEMI! Same thing happened in the entire movie "Duel"
