  1. Wow, that was fast! Yeah, that jet is barreling straight into the runway. Landing gear up, nose dive first! And the crowd is just waving goodbye, not a care in the world - Well, the lady at the stairs looks a LITTLE concerned. Maybe she's wondering where she'll have to go to pick them up. But at least they have their "frisky" Renault to get them home, another day in Gay Paree.?
  2. I was rooting around online for reference material when I came across this vintage advertisement. Something on this ad struck me as odd! I wanted to know if anybody else here can spot it. This ad has not been doctored or Photoshopped by me. I'm assuming this is how it was submitted 60 years ago. I have some comments, but I'll wait until somebody sees what I see before I chime in.
  3. I like this one - I can see the Corvette basis in the door and roofline. Mix it with a Mercedes 540K and you're set!
  4. This kit has been reissued so many times over the years that they are easy to come across. Especially stock or lowered. But, I don't recall seeing one done up as a 4x4. I really like the look! Maybe strip the thick paint job and have fun with an old weathered look for it. Keep the big camper on it - it works with the "overland bounder" theme. Add a camping diorama and you've got a scene! Looks like fun!!
  5. That would STILL be better than going to the landfill!
  6. What are the differences between that and the GTX? If it's mostly just trim, you might be able to get away with fabricating it and removing the GTX scripts. Engines and seats are gravy!
  7. Feelings mutual, bud. Hope to trade with you again soon!
  8. Looks like the therapy was a success. I haven't had a stroke and I still don't build THAT good!!!
  9. I saw that on YouTube, the truck wasn't in a junkyard, but a guy had it sittng next to his barn, overrun with weeds and junk. The buyer, who is a collector, bought it and towed it out with his REAL "Movin On" Kenworth rig! There are pics of both of them online being restored, along with the proof that they are both from their prospective shows. The guy is a true fan. Now all he needs is the Smokey and the Bandit, Convoy and Duel trucks for a complete set!
  10. Thank You for the pic, now everyone can see it for themselves. However, the box art looks like it may be different this time, so I guess the original will remain a rare, valuable, historic $200 gold bar! Just not for me.
  11. That kit just became a family heirloom! It has a family connection and it'll be a great conversion piece. What a thoughtful tribute he did, that was an awesome gift he did for you.
  12. Hey, whatever gets them off the video games and into using their creative skills. I say, that's a good thing! Maybe cars could be in the future.
  13. Might be a very early issue, before the parts got corrected. Anyone have a 71 annual to compare it to?
  14. Sounds good, where do you get it? Michael's - Hobby Lobby?
  15. Wow, that's cool! A 32 Ford with, what looks like, 36 Ford or Auburn fenders. That gives me some ideas, I like it. This design holds up. Can you pm me more pics of this car Tom?
  16. Wow Snake, I must be cheaper than a cheapskate! I wouldn't pay more than a couple bucks for current issue glue bombs. The most I've ever paid for a decent buildup was around $35 for a rarer 60s car and that was because it was a copy of my dads real car. I turned down a built 68 Chevy pickup because it was $45. It was ok clean but not perfect, I can't get myself to let go of my money easily for plastic. But, to each his own.
  17. Any kit that's been built - usually badly, is considered a glue bomb. Some are worse than others, it is easy to find hopeless cases - ones that are too badly messed up to restore, so beware. Watch out for excessive amounts of glue around the windows, or holding parts in place. Also, watch out for freelance butchering, where parts have been completely hacked away to fit wheels, engines, custom parts, etc. Because of their nature, don't pay a lot for them, most people consider them junk! I personally love rebuilding old, rare glue bombs. It's the satisfaction of saving someone else's trash and making something better out of it. I consider it repurposing or recycling, I'm doing my part to "save the planet" and keep that vintage kit out of the landfill!
  18. Guess he's trying to get 1 last big score before it gets reissued!
  19. I have grilles for both the Revell 65 and AMT 65 cars, either which I'd gladly trade for the 64 grille, if that's what you'd like to do. Pm me if so.
  20. True, high shipping costs have been the biggest deterrent to me buying stuff online, especially when the items up for sale aren't any cheaper than buying locally. Sellers who ask full retail plus shipping, or even sometimes less than retail but charge rediculous amounts for shipping don't make any sense to me.
  21. It's based on the percentage of his sales. If he sold 1 item and got a perfect rating, then he would have a 100% positive.
  22. And we only have ourselves to blame for this one. Back when online shopping was the "new" thing, everyone bought from there because it was cheaper - driving the hobby shops OOB. Now it's the ONLY way to find anything, and the prices aren't so cheap anymore. We reap what we have sown.
  23. When this kit was originally tooled in the 80s (as the orange sedan), the Chevy small block was the "go to" engine in just about every 1:1 street rod. Just as LS and 5.0s are commonplace today. Boring but true!
  24. Thank You, Snake. My point exactly.
  25. Anybody ever use those clear and colored clear report folders (the kind with the plastic channel for the spine that holds the papers together)? They can be found at Staples and Wally Mart and other stores that sell school supplies. They may even come in light blue and smoke tint if you look around.
