  1. Given the fragility of items such as these, it's amazing that they even remained essentially intact all of these years. And, knowing how dedicated you are at preserving the original builders' intentions, I can't think of a more appropriate person to be the next caretaker of these! Congrats on your prizes.
  2. Thank you for adding these pics Tuomas, glad you had more of his work I'd never even seen before.
  3. Paint looks perfect to me. You don't even to color sand it to knock down the orange peel. I'd leave it alone.
  4. For me, I would have to respectfully disagree with you on pretty much everything on your list. Most, if not all the kits you want redone, were all done recently. They include fair details, accurate body shapes and adequate parts count for their age. Much better than the details if the kits from the 50s and 60s. Your biggest point might be that they are 1/24th scale, but all of these kits still sell well for their intended subject matter and they are useful for kit-bashing regardless of their scale. I don't really see a valid reason for the kit manufacturers to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars to "reinvent a useful wheel", so to speak. Especially when there are so many other untapped subjects that have never been available as model kits. Sorry, just my opinion.
  5. Here's another unSmart thing to consider, https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2016/12/nhtsa-probes-smart-fortwos-keep-bursting-flames/
  6. Looks like somebody needs some new tires, those suckers would slide on an even slightly wet surface!
  7. Frankly, I always thought that it looked like one of these I just can't imagine how any mature, grown adult would even WANT to be seen in one. Gas mileage or not - you can't help but look like a dork driving it.
  8. Found two versions available on his website http://jimmyflintstonestudios.com/?page_id=9 #NB6, for use with AMT Ecto1A #NB123, use Polar Lights Ecto 1
  9. IIRC, Jimmy Flintstone made (makes?) a resin body of that 59 Caddy hearse, saving you a lot of time. I don't think it includes an interior, so you'd still have to figure out how to get rid of all the Ecto1 paraphernalia from it though.
  10. Sorry, he's a Pepsi fan?
  11. I don't know about that, it's still ugly - just wrapped up in a new paint job.
  12. Is it all solid, or is the body empty inside (like a resin, curbside kit)?
  13. Cool car, was that a solid block?
  14. This just in..... For 2020, Round 2 will be issuing their entire catalog in Coca Cola livery!!!!! Speculators, start stocking up!
  15. Looks like the information alluded to the fact that the wooden masters still exist. Knowing that and tying into the budding 3D printing technology that is available, my hope is that someone, somewhere could scan these and actually PRODUCE kits of these very interesting subjects! I don't think I'm alone in that dream.
  16. I think the design works better backwards. The reversed wheelwells always bothered me, now they look right. Good eye!
  17. At that price, he'll be the ONLY one who thinks it's cool!
  18. Got mine too, something I've wanted for a long time. Very pleased! ?????
  19. I think their original idea was to say that this model was comfortable and smooth on long highway drives. Turnpike = highway Cruiser = comfortable drive.
  20. Looks tough. Why not try building it again? All the parts are easy to come by and yours looks like a pretty straight forward build.
  21. Here's a couple more I found online - credited as built by Juha
  22. After all these years, now I know what I've been missing! BTW, why is that guy on the right pulling on the other guys pants???
