A way to get around licensing?
Oldcarfan27 replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I didn't know that there was a licensing problem from tire manufacturers, plus they could leave the engraving off if it is really an issue. My suggestion is to just leave everything you need on the decal sheet and we can fix the offensive items ourselves! -
A way to get around licensing?

From what I read, Warner Bros pulled all licensing when the whole Confederate flag fiasco came about. So no more "Dukes" anywhere. -
My favorite part is how the rear fenders match the styling cove on the front fenders. Well thought out!

Since Round 2 can't ever reissue anything Dukes of Hazzard because of Political Correctness and Warner Bros pulling the licensing, I got to thinking - Would there be any legal ramifications if they issued the Charger as "Good Ol' Boys" 69 Charger? They could include the 2 sets of numbers 01235 in block shape, blue racing stripes with white stars on it, a big red box with a white border - about the size of the roof (for racing numbers in it, right? Wink, Wink ??) and a sponsor "GENERAL FLEET" to put next to the red box on the roof. Or the Monaco could be called "Corrupt Southern Law Enforcement Officer". With door badges that DON'T say anything about Hazzard in them. Just letters nearby on the decal sheet that say "HAGGARD COUNTY, ZZ". The Jeep is easy, just issue it as a Jeep Golden Eagle with nicknames on the decal sheet. "Trixie", "Pixie", "Flixie" or some other name? I really want to see the tow truck again, even if it's called "Hillbilly Tow Truck" with special decals for optional small town garages. I remember some old MPC Firebirds and Indy Pace Cars where they didn't have licensing to use Trans Am, so they just put the letters all mixed up on the decal sheet - creative builders knew what to do with them. Their idea could still work today on lots of other projects. Thoughts?

Love my trades Sam, hope to do it again!

His inspiration... His competition... Here's the minivan version for 2021. My question is, where's the headroom for the BACKSEAT Passengers? -

Amazing chassis build! Love the details. -
Amen to that! Now it's time for us to "put up or shut up" Round 2 is taking a gamble that there is enough of us builders out there to go and invest the kind of money it takes to tool up an oddball car like this. They're hoping that we will spend our money to make it worthwhile. If we want to encourage them to do more unusual subjects like this - WE MUST BUY AT LEAST ONE OF THESE!!! If it fails, they may never listen to our pipe dreams again! I don't buy a lot of new models, but I have ideas for a subject like this. I'll probably get 2 or 3. I like what they're doing that much!

If you want those wheels, you're going to have to use the 93 Cobra for the main body and interior, and the 90/91 convertible for the GT parts and do some creative kitbashing. Like they said, Monogram never made a GT fastback. Just a Cobra FB, GT convertible and an LX coupe. Sounds like a fun bashing project though. LX convertible anyone?

What kit is this grille from? It would work as a basis for a Dodge conversion I have in mind. -

Reminds me of a Hallmark ornament. You should put a hook on the roof and hang it on the tree! -
I had the same problem with their Clearcoat automotive touch up paint, and I tried it twice! I too thought it was a bad can so I bought another one, same problem - it would never dry. I let the cars sit to dry so long that dust had time to stick and imbed into it, even after a year! I had to give up, dunk it into the Purple Power and try again. This time I simply used Krylon Clear Lacquer from Home Depot and it worked perfectly! Duplicolor color paints work great, but don't ruin your work by using their Clearcoat, you'll be sorry!!!

Sounds to me like someone's one step away from using firecrackers on his kits again. ? I only remember using lighter fluid to FINISH THEM OFF, not improve them! LOL -
Really nice, looks classy in that color!

Let me guess, is the Ebay seller's name "Buddrose"?

Just a little update. I just found an online ad for Oakridge Hobbies and they're using your picture to sell their kits! Can they do that? -
I think if I ever get ahold of one CHEAP or free, I might like the challenge of kit bashing one to correct the flaws - just to see if it could be done. But I sure won't pay $29.99 for it! ?

I didn't know that '69 Camaros came with Monza coupe taillights and frog eye headlights, oh the humanity!
