  1. Love it! I've been contemplating a conversion from a Honcho, but I'd rather buy the kit.
  2. Needs to have a bumper sticker on the back that says: My other car is a Mustang - P51d
  3. May I suggest aircraft landing wheels or artillery wheels to continue the theme?
  4. I like that name, sounds like a Tom Daniels idea! This thing is just "Wacky"
  5. I'm not sure what the difference is, but I've use Chevy engine orange as a stand in for Hugger Orange on a Camaro I built a while back - looks close enough to my eye. Wouldn't surprise me if they're the same.
  6. Then I guess his car has probably rusted a LOT more since then! 5 years later and it's still great to see. I'm glad it was brought back up.
  7. Here's how I resolved that issue, The quarter panels are too narrow and the trunk ends at too much of a point. So I sliced the fenders and bent the trunk upwards and filled the spaces with plastic. I also slightly widened the fenders at the same time. I also narrowed the rear bumper without rechroming. I carefully removed the license plate area (which was too big anyway) and took out a small section right in the middle to narrow the bumper to fit (see the line on the top of the bumper). I then attached white plastic to the rear to strengthen and support the bumper. Once that was done, I thinned out the license plate and put it back in place. There, thats better! BTW - I used the RC2 issue of this kit, which seems to have the correct chassis, spoiler and Christmas Tree. But I planned on using the 69 Olds chassis anyway.
  8. Paul, I like your idea, but Palmer kits like this are around 1/32 scale and not always accurate scale at that! But If I ever come across one of these cheap, I would definitely give it a shot.
  9. That, and look at the front and rear bumper caps - a perfect match.
  10. I can't see if it has the Grabber hood, but that sure looks like it!
  11. B-U-tiff-full!!!
  12. Nice build on this often overlooked kit. Makes me want to do one in that bizarre mustard yellow and camel interior that seemed to be so popular back then.
  13. Without a doubt, since we have Camaros, Challengers and Mustangs - Corvette is practically a guarantee. I think the interest in the latest version will reverse the lackluster passion for the last 4 generations. Since this is the first Corvette since the Mako Shark era that doesn't look like it was designed by a committee.
  14. When I first read your question of "smooth", the first thought in my mind was rich, glossy, deep color with NO orange peel. Probably a solid color with no texture or metallic in it. Smooth to me is a Chocolate or Strawberry Shake. Or a females' freshly manicured fingernails - bright red! Just my 2 pennies.
  15. I also remember rejecting a few back then too, My Mother the Car. The box was small, so I thought it was 1/32 scale. It was built and I wasn't into oldie cars back then. Force 440 Monaco. This one was also built and I thought the cars were ugly back then. Body and a few parts for 75 Pontiac Ventura. Knowing now how rare these are, I wish I'd just grabbed whatever I found. Nova could have provided the rest. If only I knew then what I know now. 'Sigh'
  16. I never even thought about Palmer, it looked too proportionately correct for that. ? However, the separate chrome front and rear ends and roof do support that theory. Probably was modified into this funny car. That would make it around 1/32, not my scale and not going to be easy to find. As far as bidding on this one - I'll pass. Right now it's at $27 and just not worth it for the condition it's in. But at least I know who made it. Thanks guys!
  17. This is on Ebay right now: Is this an MPC, Revell or ? It doesn't have the hogged out rear wheelwells or separate fenders from the Malco Multi-Maverick. But it does have a Grabber hood which the Johan model doesn't. I'm intrigued, it looks like a good basis for a stock conversion. I need to know where to look.
  18. Darn, people have found out about my secret. Seriously, I've been prowling thrift stores and antique stores for decades and have found some pretty awsome stuff. Not every time, but every so often a gem falls in my lap. First kit I found that turned me into a loyal shopper was AMTs Boondocker Chevy Blazer for 99 cents! This was back in the early 80s and this particular thrift store would seem to get model kits weekly. Trying to remember a few of the deals I scored.... AMT Mack R685ST - $1.49 unbuilt AMT Ford C600 - $1.19 built AMT Mustang II Python - .69 cents Entex 1/16 Duesenberg boattail SJ - $2.50 Revell Prestige Auto Transport Set - $9.99 Johan Rambler conv. Snap kit - $2.00 Johan Maverick promo, bagged - .99 cents. Mattel Vac U Form, mint in box (1960s) - $2.99 Mattel Hot Wheels Sizzlers "National Champ Race Set" complete with box. included 3 cars! - half price weekend sale $1.50 There were many more, but I can't remember them all. Those were the 80s and models were much more common than they are now. Recently I found a vintage Revell Porsche 914-6 for $5.99 And the AMT Corvette Collector's Set, 6 cars in one box. - $19.99 Nicely built 67 Chevelle SS in a bag. $2.99
  19. I would have built the yellow one as an adult today and kept the blue one as a reminder of how much you've progressed. I wish I had kept my early builds, just so I could have a window back in time.
  20. Before you get too far on that hood, shouldn't the grille slope back a little more? Looks too vertical too me.
  21. Thanks for the tips, gonna improve the Camaro immensely. My suggestion for the window trim, bevel the trim to the glass and make the transition less noticeable. Question I have is, is there a way to improve the taillights? They're just too boxy and don't look right at all!
  22. Actually it would be perfect to put a PONTIAC into a DeLorean!
  23. Plus, if you don't succeed, it's not like you ruined something new.
