Just saw these kits online
Oldcarfan27 replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ah well, we're builders, that's what paint is for. It does seem silly though, if they were planning on molding it in multiple colors in the beginning, why put one body part on a chassis sprue? Otherwise, just do it all in one color. -
I only wanna be with you - Hootie & the Blowfish. Good job, Dan. I thought the Train song would stump you.?

Just saw these 2 kits on sale on the Free Time website, any body have any info on them? Pictures? Both look interesting, but I don't know about the quality. Top one almost looks like a basis for a Chrysler Airflow. The Delahaye is just classic, if it's a good kit. Anybody?

It's called recycling, just tell people your doing your part to save the environment. Saving junker models from the landfill. Looks good, keep it up and have fun!

I like the Super Bees, but I'm REALLY diggin' the garage and the lighting. It makes the whole environment look so real. I especially like the dusty car in the back of the shop! A forgotten project for an owner, perhaps? Maybe a client who hasn't paid his bill? Don't ever clean that car, the shop is a story in itself! I suggest using this as a photo backdrop for all of your finished and "in progress" builds.

I think I get it. I did something very similar on a 70 Dodge Dart Swinger conversion awhile back. I needed the 2 long peaks on the flat hood, so I scribed a groove on each side of the hood to hold a small, vertical, strip of plastic . I filed it into the curved shape, like your spears, and smoothed putty on either side to make the final shape. Minor sanding to finish and it was done. Sound about right?

2019 GMC Sierra ( UGLY Truck)

At least you know this will be able to handle the rugged wilderness without ruining the leather upholstery or the warranty. But just try getting replacement tires for this beast! -
Labor Day Sale, Free Time Hobbies

I checked it out, prices are OK. Not huge, but fair. I didn't check - do they charge for shipping? Saw some interesting stuff, but nothing that I HAD to get right now. Thanks for the heads-up though. -
Now that's what I'm talkin about !
Oldcarfan27 replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I totally agree. It's a fun kit! Easy to build, good details, lots of possibilities. No need for a new tool of this one, this one's timeless. I especially enjoy the well designed opening doors and roll up windows. Very clever engineering and fool-proof. Now if only they'd put back all the original stock and custom parts, it'd be perfect! -
Here's a three-fer, all different songs: • Pulls her hair back as she screams • I'm such a baby cause the dolphins make me cry • Gonna get high man I'm gonna get loose, just give me another shot of that juice.

What Kits Were Molded in Green?
Oldcarfan27 replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I thought it was green, I have a figure of what I think is the Green Hornet and he's molded in green. He's in a suit and has a fedora hat like the character, so I assumed... -

How did you make those spears! Ive had this same conversion in mind for quite a while, but I couldn't figure out how to easily make those spears. I planned on using the 69 Galaxie hood for the beak and I bought some photoetched roofwalk from a train shop to use for the grille. Also thought about using 73 Cougar headlights and grill collar for the front. Haven't figured out the rear bumper and details yet, so I will be watching to see how you do it. I can't wait to see how this all comes out. After seeing your Nova build, I know this will be good!

Looks like an old "Maddog Models" job. Is it a poured, slush cast molding on the inside? He might have only been a local caster. I just remember his stuff being very crude and rough. Very hard to build into anything worthwhile. If this is like that and you can make it into something good, then I absolutely admire you. Best Wishes!

Funny, even with all the plastic and lightweight materials used in modern cars, an average Suburban or Escalade still hits this tonnage. A Dodge Challenger or Charger still comes close (at 4400 lbs) And a Camaro or Mustang still tips the scales near 2 tons No wonder the manufacturers have such a hard time trying to meet EPA mileage standards. Even with all of the cheaper, recycled materials, they still haven't gotten rid of the FAT!

What Kits Were Molded in Green?
Oldcarfan27 replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The interesting part of threads like this is seeing so many unusual kits I've NEVER EVEN SEEN BEFORE! I think this hobby would be impossible to completely document in a book. Just when you think you've seen them all - more pop up out of nowhere.
