need a substance that remains tacky over time

I've got a lacquer clear spray that doesn't seem to ever dry. I used it on a couple of bodies over a year ago - and they're still tacky! ? -

I agree with the proportions aspect, the new versions just look to bottom heavy. And what's with the mail slot windows? I've been inside all three and the blind spots are horrible! Although, I do believe Steve McQueen could even make one of those look cool if he chased the baddies in one of the new Mustangs!

Cool truck, wish I had a cap like that for mine. -

Does your hood say "DORF"? -
I remember getting the Revell/Renwal 1/12 65 Mustang fb for Christmas as a kid and being so blown away by all of the operating features, that I thought ALL big scale models were like that. So when I got the AMT 64.5 Mustang I was absolutely disappointed - "steaming pile" is a good description of it alright. Never bought another AMT 1/16 scale kit again for fear of it being as bad as that Mustang.

Interesting, the few Cobra kits from US manufactures

That is an interesting story, kinda funny too. Hard to imagine that within a decade, the real Cobra legends were already forgotten about. Especially in an automotive class with car enthusiasts. -

Not sure what louvers you're talking about, but I'm going to try your suggestion and lay out the grille on a piece of sheet plastic. I may get close to the look anyway. At least if it doesn't work out or if I find something better, I didn't ruin anything by trying. Thanks, Mike -
What do these door panels belong to?

If you're going to dump em, can I have them? They look like the right shape for a conversion I'm doing. Pm me. -
Speaking of Ringo, I think one of John's funniest comments was during an interview with the band. The host asked the Beatles if they thought Ringo was the best drummer in the world, and John's comment - without missing a beat, said "Ringo's not even the best drummer in the Beatles!" Next funniest was his "Those in the cheap seats, please clap. And those in the expensive seats - Just rattle your jewellery!" Very witty.

You mean Thomas the Train? His best acting to date!

I want one of those! I wish Round 2 would include the caps in their reissues. -
Bring Out Your Dead... Long Stalled Models
Oldcarfan27 replied to Tom Geiger's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Now I don't feel so bad about my "misfits"! Alot of these projects look so good, I wish I had 'em. Maybe we should offer up our stalled projects to trade for somebody else's stalled project. If we can't finish them, maybe someone else can! Sounds fun to me, how about anybody else? -

What hubcap is this ?

I agree, props to you guys. Everyone likes to share their little nuggets of wisdom and trivia. That's why I like to post questions on here - the answers are always interesting! -
Awesome 77 S/E T/A decal set! They look better than the decals from all 3 manufacturers. Are they printed up in actual gold, or a mustard yellow that looks kinda like gold? I like that they don't have any black background, so I can use them on any other color I like. Are they scaled to fit the Monogram, AMT or Revell bodies? And how much per sheet? I'm drooling. Excuse me.

Here's one loaded with parts
Oldcarfan27 replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think you're right. 3D printers will probably be THE most realistic way to reproduce the best parts of Johan's vault of classic kits. But that will probably be sometime in the future, I just hope I'm still around to be able to enjoy it. Let's just hope there won't be a hodgepodge of legal red tape to jump through to make it happen. -
76 Ford Courier
Oldcarfan27 replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That's my next hurdle. I figure I'll use the frame around the grill from the Revell Courier and cut away the rest. I can easily find round headlights, but I haven't figured out how to duplicate the grille pattern yet. Any ideas? -

Not too sure about the "Pimp Daddy Purple" one, but I could picture Elvis stepping out of the grey one. I like it a lot! You should sell copies of your models. A lot of us would dig building them too. Or please post buildups for us, show us how you did it.

I need one of those, I hate doing that part!
