  1. I like it! Very different. Could be done with the readily available 57. Keep us posted on this.
  2. Don't know if this is the reason the plastic is black, but I've heard that a black base makes the chrome look more reflective or deeper.
  3. Anybody got any Falcons to trade for?
  4. I understand that, but I enjoy seeing other builders' projects. Great attachment AFX, lots of great ideas there. I especially like the Rambler and the Novas! Falcons look good too, except I don't have a good one to use for that. I was kind of thinking of Street Freaks like this... Rediculous, I know, but definitely eye catching! Besides, these are what I remember reading about in Hot Rod Magazine. Makes me wonder how many restorations at Barrett Jackson came from projects like these.
  5. Can anyone tell me what years were the 60s gasser wars and 70s street freaks at their peaks? Also, what kinds of cars were most prevalent for either time? Coupes, sedans, 2 doors, muscle cars. Other cars besides Willys coupes and shoebox Chevys. I'm wanting to build some straight axle "Hi-boys" and I want to do something different but typical, if that makes sense. I was thinking of doing an early Camaro, Nova or Plymouth. With super wide meats sticking out of the fenders in back and ultra skinnies on a jacked up front. Maybe some panel paint jobs or lace. And a big, giant blower sticking out of the flip front end. I know, I just described the MPC flip front 57 Chevy that's coming out soon, but I wanted to do something different than that. Any new ideas? What kinds of accessories were commonly used back then? Spring shackles, dump headers, big shifters and "barefoot" accelerator pedals. What else?
  6. They look great, but the only thing wrong that I can see is they look too good for old Mopars - not enough rust through! ? Even in dry climates those things are known to rust out. Let's just say your cars represent an age of 3 to 4 years old. Keep up the good work.
  7. That probably means the first bidders max bid was $1300 and the second bidder EXCEEDED that! These guys are doling out some serious cash for really nice builds!
  8. My latest trade acquisitions from Steve G. and Brandon R. - Thanks guys. Just posting the before pics before they go into the "pond" Original AMT 66 Fairlane. Mostly got this one ?for the chrome and seats to restore my maroon ex-promo. ? But, I've got plans for this poor wreck too. No it's not going to be a dirt track racer. The roofline is far superior to the new tool Fairlane, so I want to save it along with this one?. Stay tuned. 66 Impala. Got this from Brandon for the chrome to restore my hardtop as well, but he gave me so many good parts with it, that I want to restore the convertible too! Other than the broken windshield frame, that body is perfect. I'll probably try to find a mod stocker for the missing bits to fix that one. 64 Bonneville, Going to use parts of this to build a replica of a car my dad used to own back in 64. Steve also included a convertible body which is also nice enough to use, but I don't have enough parts to restore it - yet. I'll post updates as soon as I get them going.
  9. And you can play with it BEFORE you put it in your diorama!? Be aware it only has black windows (no interior) and hopper chassis, so you'll have to round up those parts to make a stock model from it, but it's a start. The body is still nice.
  10. I'd like the Blazer, but that's just me.
  11. Who said he was a kid when he built these? To me that would insult the kids! The insulting part is he thinks people would pay $25 or more for this rubbish. But then again, what's the saying - "there's one sucker born every minute"
  12. Where's the lemon it's trying to suck? Nobody ever said stupidly rich people were smart.
  13. FYI - look for the Lindberg 79 Cadillac hopper kit. The body is the old Johan tool, slight wheelbase adjustment for the hopper chassis. I know, because I have one and all the old Johan parts fit it exactly! Even has same tooling marks inside it. At least we know this Johan tool still exists. We should ask Round 2 to restore this classic kit.
  14. Now just needs a proper 70s Ford to be a matched set. Nice trucks!
  15. Classy build, love the color combo. Nice job.
  16. You guys should check out the thread I posted a few months ago about this very seller! Search "Junk from an Ebay seller?"
  17. Not this time, my trash can's already full!
  18. Eh, I already have six of those. Common kit??
  19. Good ones guys, very funny!
  20. James Maynard is a solid trader, provides good pictures and descriptions beforehand and the delivered products are exactly as expected! Upfront and honest guy! Thanks James.
  21. Double check your masking tape templates, I don't think they are mirror images of each other. The passenger side tape looks more correct to me.
  22. It was a great trade, well worth the wait! Let's do it again!
  23. Question - can someone tell me what the "pau" means in the Under Glass heading? I've been wracking my brain every time I go there.
  24. Do you think they found Auroras tooling? (Drool, gasp, pant!)
