Charger III, and I can build it with no guilt, it's already started. I'm gathering info and detail shots of the real one as there was only one and I want to make it accurate. I remember having the magenta Matchbox car when I was a kid, so I was stoked when I found a model kit of it. Never saw another one again - but I've got this one, so I'm happy.

Congratulations! When's the party?

Orphaned makes, European and Asian engines by FTB

Cool engines! I especially like the forklift and display in the background, I wasn't expecting such great pics to show off your work. Keep it up. -
I also remember I came across a 61 Impala 4 door promo in an antique store, marked down 50% off so I bought it on the spot. It was missing the grille, front bumper and lower valence panel. I ended up finding the grille for it INSIDE THE CAR, between the chassis and interior of all places! I replaced the bumpers and missing panel from a Lindberg 61 and it fit almost perfectly. I polished the body and it now has a place of honor on my son's shelf. He loves the car. Sorry to ramble, my point is - when you find a prize and it's missing any parts, keep looking around, they might be right there!

Cool car, ugly choice in colors. Great price, did you ask if they had more? You know the old saying "Where there's one..." Did you look all around for the bumper that day? It could have fallen off that morning and was somewhere nearby. I found all the major parts for an MPC 70 Boss 302 Mustang and a 71 GMC Sierra Grande pickup that way. I didn't stop rummaging around and kept finding parts in different boxes, but I did find them. I was on cloud 9 that day!

I just recently opened this older (90's issue) Monogram '70 Trans Am kit to build. The inner bags were still sealed and I purchased the kit new way back when, so I know how it was stored - Indoors in my spare room. However, when I opened it all up, I found small burn marks on the drivers door. Right where it was resting against the inner bag. It's not major, I can sand it out, but it does raise the concern - We used to have to isolate the vinyl tires from the plastic to avoid "Tire Burn". Now I have to wonder if the BAGS they came packaged in can also do the same damage! Has anyone else had this issue happen to them? If so what did you do to resolve it? Is anyone else concerned about this problem? How are we going to know what plastics have what effects on other plastics while in storage?

All this talk about Ponch's Firebird got me amped to start a build on one myself. Here it is so far... Including the reverse spats and the Formula T/A hybrid fenders and hood. I've even corrected the squared off grille openings. And I already have an orange/bronze spray paint set aside for this car. Now, I just need a gold 79 chicken for the hood and 71 bucket seats - if anyone has any to spare.

Great collection of TV cars, Thanks, Chris

I can see the roof issue you're talking about. It looks like the C pillar is more triangle shaped on the diecast and should be closer to parallel shaped as on the kit and the real car. Easy fix with a Dremel and a file. However, I simply don't like diecast models because of the door gaps you could put your scale arm into and that potmetal is harder to modify and work with than plastic. They also seem to have more detail limitations because of casting thicknesses and operating features - they always look more toylike to me. But, when they're the only game in town...

Best idea I've seen so far comes from the Revell Vanagon kit. Design is very simple so you should be able to adapt a similar plan for your van. Guides slide in tracks on the body, the floor and the roof. So the door pops out and slides back, just like the real thing.

The one time when out of scale metallic paint works perfectly. Cool color choice!

Maybe so, but that tail panel looks right on! I'm going to try to find one of those diecasts to use for parts. I'll try to mix and match the best parts to make a correct 65. You've inspired me.

Looks great, must've been before the race - there's no dents on it!

Dann, I love these two cars! That Rolls looks very labor intensive, you must've made those decals. Very Groovy, Mann! Makes me wonder if anyone has ever modelled John Lennon's personal Rolls. Now that was a wild, psychedelic ride! Is that Aston Martin the Airfix, Nichimo or the Aurora kit? It does James Bond proud.

I've wanted to correct the problems in this kit for years, but I haven't figured out how to deal with the headlight issue first and foremost. I'll be watching to see how you do it. Have you seen if the Welly bumpers fit the plastic kit? If they do, that might be the easiest way to go, or at least cast them to use as a base.

I think they should be individually shown. This picture is too far from the detail. As far as the title, how about "Engine Thread". You started it, now post the pics. Don't make us beg. OK - Pleeze! Also, do be kind and identify each one for us neophytes. I'm not familiar with every powerplant.

Super Detailed engines as art itself, whatta great idea. Post good clear pics. Would enjoy seeing them!

Oldcarfan27 replied to Sixties Sam's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's a cool find, doesn't matter whether it's rare or not. Where else are you gonna find an old promo like that for a dollar? And it's in good shape too. I envy you! -
