I'm confused, you stated there hasn't been a full size Pontiac since 1970, then you also acknowledged the 61 and 62 new tools. And don't forget the Trumpeteer 60. Donor chassis for any 62 - 70s could also be the new tool Impalas, of which there are many! Always remember, GM was king of "badge engineering", and underneath the skin, a lot of their cousins shared components. Especially chassis frames. So if you DO want to improve those cars, you do have choices. The fact that there have been new full size Pontiacs kitted at all, means we shouldn't give up hope. I'd personally like to see the 67 - 69s again.

For all you guys who want a Vette wagon
Oldcarfan27 replied to oldnslow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Check out the hood, I wonder if it was an original big block Vette? And it's from California - I'm embarrassed. -
Beautiful builds. I've never seen a Batmobile with engine. And I can tell you built the General from the superior Revell kit, I plan on doing that myself someday. Thanks

Thanks for posting. I recognize the KITT 2000 car, Nash Bridges 71 Cuda, and the Fast n Furious Charger. But what are the other cars from?
-
Repstock, I'm glad you posted your Rockford Files cars here. I've seen them in the past and think you did a great job. Thanks for responding. BTW - Did you make the truck from the Monogram or MPC kit? And how did you do the side trim so well?
-
Looks like the wheels, hubcaps and headlights are from the same kit. Taillights from the custom 62 Tbird?

Very well done, love the authentic looking color.

This is another builder's car. I can't remember his name, but I liked the camera angle and the ingenious display. He photographed it looking out the windshield of his car! If this is yours - please, step up and tell us who you are. This is the Model, TV clip,

Cool cars, great story! Thanks.

Is the junker based on how the actual car exists later on in life? Or is it just your interpretation? If it's real and there's a picture of the real car available, you should post it with that model too. Sort of a before and after display.

Awesome preservation of an old build. I admire your dedication to save the paint. I probably would've just dumped it in the Purple Power and been done with it, but then I wouldn't have it completed on my shelf now. Good Job!

I may be opening a General Lee floodgate, but..... I love to see replicas of famous TV or Movie cars. Did you build a Monkeemobile, a BJ and the Bear Kenworth, a Bluesmobile police car or a detailed wrecked Eleanor from the original Gone in 60 Seconds. Post your built plastic models here. Please, NO prebuilt diecasts allowed, I want to see YOUR creations only. Please tell us what movie or TV show they're from, especially the more obscure stuff. Not everybody may recognize Greg's first car from the Brady Bunch (56 Chevy convertible, if you're interested) or Uncle Jesse's pickup, along with an online picture of the real car if possible. Dioramas are great too, let's see those famous cars in action!

Not if the Japanese kits of American cars keep being as bad as they have been in the past. Don't they understand that we don't build model cars with electric motors, shallow interior buckets and generic chassis pans with giant steering mechanisms and zero correct details. Does anybody remember the Hasegawa American 66 series? Great subject matter, Deplorable execution! Ripoff AMT or Johan curbside bodies and generic interiors and chassis. And offered at TWICE the price of domestic kit prices. How about the Sunny Cobra 427 debacle? Or the Marui/Tilt Cannonball Run, American Violence series? Why do they still think that we still want kits with electric motors and battery boxes instead of real engines (not engine inserts) and opening hoods? Japanese model companies can do amazing things with Japanese subjects, but it seems they just can't get good examples of American cars to measure from or get blueprints for. They always seem to choose to design them from memory instead, with incorrect proportions and outright wrong details. "Fill a void"? I'm not so sure. I personally shy away from their offerings of American cars - I've been burned too many times before.

Final update: Revell 1969 Camaro Z28
Oldcarfan27 replied to Dragonhawk1066's topic in WIP: Model Cars
In your pics, that looks like a good match for Hugger Orange. Just make sure you paint the white areas around the cowl vents. -
What's old is new again. It's funny, but that is the same color the original issue was molded in. And we cursed that it was hard to cover with other colors. If it wasn't sitting on that box, I would have thought it WAS an original issue!

Wild Thang 3 & 4
Oldcarfan27 replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No comment, I just give up. -
Does anybody know if this Superbird is what became of the original 70 GTX tool, and is that the reason why the GTX was never reissued?

Oh well, best wishes on your build. Looks like a great idea. -
Which Cord Kit?
Oldcarfan27 replied to OldTrucker's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Does look nice, color choice looks accurate for the time period. Beautiful car. I never considered anything else but the roadster, but this build makes me appreciate it's formal lines. -

Speaker boxes and Radio Shack electronics - in a Ferrari. Just Tacky! I'm surprised he didn't use Cragar SS Wheels on it too. The stripes on the seats make it look like a promotion for a pizza delivery joint. -
8 mill, and it looks like a $2 Hot Wheel! Is it a street car?

Wouldn't it be easier with the long bed chassis? I don't think Ford offered a heavy duty package on a short bed frame. Or maybe use the frame from the Firestone 4x4 pickup, it's got a looooong wheelbase.
