  1. It's absurd, not only is it completely destructive to the wheels and suspension, it's extremely dangerous on the road! My wife ended up in the middle of a 5 car accident because of one of these clowns. He stopped to go over railroad tracks, other cars had to stop too and ended up getting rear ended by a truck that wasn't paying attention. Insult to injury, the lowrider wasn't even involved, so he drove off. I hate these cars, serves them right for being so stupid.
  2. I've been waiting for a book like this forever, I hope it has illustrations. I likes ta see pikturs.
  3. I did figure out what IMHO meant. In my humble opinion.
  4. I've got one that keeps popping up and I can't figure it out. IIRC Please help!
  5. I say, don't even sweat it. The stock air cleaner is so big, it'll cover all that anyway. However, I've been counting your rivets and don't know why your spark plug wires aren't numbered and date coded? Sheesh! Just kidding, hope you got my little dig at the nit-pickers. Yours is looking good.
  6. Hope your manicures turn out darling with that Testors blue. ?
  7. Nothing to criticize here, looks "classy (San Diego)"?
  8. The story I read about the IRS in the restored car goes like this. This car was a test mule for different engineering ideas they were experimenting with and when they were done, either Ford or Shelby kept the rear suspension and installed a standard leaf spring rear end in it and sold the car. The first owner bought the car, which turned out to be a real handful for him or his wife and sold it to someone else soon after. If I'm correct, I think the story said it was Bill Cosby, but I'm not sure of that now. Fast forward 30 years later, car comes up for sale and turns out to be the original Shelby prototype with the wrong rear end, so the new owner has to have the whole IRS completely remade from scratch. Problem was, being an experimental project, there was no blueprints or references for this suspension. So he just had to guesstimate what it was to look like based on photographs taken of the car from that time period. So if parts differ in the photos from 1968 and now, that's probably because it's not exactly the same rear end assembly.
  9. I remember that. Those seats give me a migraine headache. Funky indeed!
  10. What happened to that front bumper? Looks like it got caught in a sanding wheel. Poor thing.
  11. Save the gills! Where are you likely to find another one that clean? Convert a 74 to a 71, or use a Johan 71 pro stock. They're easier to find than that MPC 71.
  12. Some great deals! - especially the Johan.
  13. That looks great, even better than the Suburban. You're right, the raised rear end makes it look like it's ready to carry a load.
  14. Yeah, when cars were built like a tank. Try doing that with a Camry today - it'll bend in half!
  15. Mega Block wheels - never even thought about using those. They look really good for coming from a toy! I also like the Lincoln Logs for the vehicle stands. You must have kids! --------------- "It was dark in there, with sand everywhere and a couple of Lincoln Logs, It was awful!" "Eh, I don't think those were Lincoln Logs" - Mr Potato Head to Hamm, from Toy Story 3
  16. I agree, once 3D printing becomes mainstream, builders will be able to create, design and build anything they want, without being dependent and waiting for a major company to make a kit for them. I see it as a creatively freeing and independent time for the model building community. Just as it is for architectural design and to a different degree - the music industry, the subject matter will only be limited by the artists ability and knowledge of the computer software that he is presented with. I just hope the model companies will be able to adapt to this burgeoning technology! Downloading model kits on demand, anyone? Just like downloadable music, won't it be great to pay for a downloadable file to run in your 3D printer and make as many 57 Chevys as you want? Did I say Chevy? I meant Camaro. ???
  17. A lot of diecast kits basically look like kits of regular diecast collectibles, just unassembled. So I was never sure who they were marketed for. Collectors don't build and Builders usually want finer details. Franklin Mints were probably the best at raising interest from both groups. They had diecast collectibles with finer details and unusual subject matter. Hubley's and Gabriel's were 1/20 scale Ford Model As and Duesenbergs (which were HUGE!) but light on the detail. They were reissued back in the 80s as a subsidiary of Ertl, so they should be easier to find. Speaking of Ertl, they had some 1/25 diecast kits back in the 70s and early 80s. Box art looked promising, but the kits were basically unassembled toys. Shame too, because I remember them having a late 70s Caprice, a Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am and a Jeep Renegade CJ7. They sounded better than they looked. If you're into BIG scale and BIG money, I recall Pocher had some Ferraris and some other kits (trucks?) With diecast bodies. I've never seen any built, so I don't know how good they are or how easy they are to build. Hope this helps.
  18. Testors issued a few 1/24 diecast kits in their Lincoln Mint series. They look good on the box, but I can't comment on how good they are. Look on Google images.
  19. That's interesting, can you post those pages so we can see them? I'd like to see what was available back then.
  20. You're right, I read farther down and it's mostly just comments and objections to the new policy. But the opinion that kept coming back up is that Photobucket is headed down a deadend road. Serves them right! Justice served.
  21. I tried to enter your address on here for Chrome, but all I got was the home page.
  22. To me the back window area looks more like a sedan not the hardtop. I can easily correct the driprail curve, so thats a non-issue for me.
  23. Check this out! https://www.theverge.com/2017/7/4/15919224/photobucket-broken-images-amazon-ebay-etsy-paid-update
  24. True 'dat! I think there are other app fixes for it though. Just do a search for Photobucket link fix, or Photobucket imbed fix.
