  1. Wow that one is ROUGH! I admire your dedication to see this through. If it were me, I'd take the new body of the Mad Mudder and reuse the Blazer roof. Start over with a clean slate, so to speak. Sure would be a lot easier than trying to fix all of this one again. These Blazers seem to be getting rare, I don't know why Revell hasn't reissued this one to go with their Bronco and Ramcharger - seems like a natural to me.
  2. Never thought about this one being based on a Corvette, I just thought it was a severely shortened Eldorado. But now I can see the windshield/T-tops. However, either one is easily purchased, and the Caddie isn't considered THAT prestigious to copy so, I have to ask "why"?
  3. The red one is built on an 80s Camaro/Firebird. The white one is a 280ZX. Both do-able using recently issued kits and some 30s classic parts.

  7. Since I doubt there are enough people wanting kits like these, I'm thinking I could be satisfied with an "interpretation" model rather than an exact replica. I could dig up some junker Monogram or Johan classics and blend them into a Mustang, Buick, Datsun or Camaro body and see what I come up with. Could be fun.

  9. I know, I don't really care for the old flat, fendered MG roadsters. I'm digging the barroque, quasi, moderne streamlined Mercedes or Auburn Speedster look that was plopped onto new car bodies in the 70s and 80s. You know, with sweeping fenders, chrome standup grilles and wide wire wheels, but modern coupe or convertible bodies. Call it a sickness, but I'm hooked. Maybe it's because I'm so tired of the current homogenized, generic, jellybean, cookie-cutter cars available today that I'm longing to see the unique, flowing, coachbuilt creations that haven't been done since the 30s. Cars that were designed by artists who had a passion for style and love for the automobile, not by corporate bean-counters and computer program engineers. Yuck.??

  11. Just spent time online looking up the history on the Renwal Revival series and it got me thinking. Does anybody else but me have any interest in 70s Neo-Classic cars? Like Zimmers, Excaliburs, Stutz Blackhawks, etc. They're tacky, but kinda interesting in modern/retro/classic kinda way. I'm thinking of trying some conversions/kitbashing using newer and older kits. But I'd really like to have a correct kit of the Blackhawk. I'd want to build one like Elvis owned. And don't get me started on how I want the SuperFly kit reissued to get me going. Zimmer Mustangs Berlinna Firebirds Spartan 280zx and 300zx There was even some made using 80s Buick Regals (I don't know the name) Anyone else, or is this just a freak dream of mine?

  13. I think MB brake fluid is DOT4 which is synthetic, I don't think it will have any effect on your paint. You'll need to use good old fashioned DOT3 which is organic in nature and will take off paint.

  16. I still can't identify which is which - they all look like a vacuum cleaner to me. I'm currently daily driving my 90 Silverado 1500 that my dad bought brand new. He paid 14k cash for it. I still runs like a new baby puppy and never gives me any major troubles. 160k miles, original unopened 5.7, original trans - still shifts great. A/C converted to R134 blows ice cold. Never leaves me stranded. Still EASILY passes smog test. Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. Let's see how many of these computer laden, techno haulers pass that test in 30 years!

  22. Honestly, I use just one, Bondo Spot and Glasing Putty, and it's only for minor or thin fills. The rest, I use good old plastic and super glue. It dries hard, stays stable, doesn't shrink and can be worked the same as the rest of the plastic kit. And it's fast - no long waiting. Other builders may disagree, but I've had bad, long term experiences with all kinds of fillers shrinking and cracking. I also try to plan my cuts carefully and prep parts to fit precisely and neatly, to minimize sloppy puttying. Think of what were doing as miniature "Overhaulin' " shops. Look at how neat and clean their cars are BEFORE they ever put any paint on them. A final finish is only as good as it's foundation. Besides, if something happens (God forbid) and you have to strip the paint off, you won't have as much to re-putty again later. Just my way of doing it.
