thanks. Just enough to remove the economy car status. If it wasnt painted, Id shave the small stuff like handles and give it more of a custom touch.

thats the only way I do things. I do need to find a cleaner chassis plate and I have tried other more modern chassis, but all require modifications. If I can't find one, I can cut a 64 fairlane/thunderbolt version down but I'd rather not

looks good TJ

nope, staying as is. Last thing I need is another project wasting away due to time I dont have. Between my FT job, my business, my responsibilities of owning my house, various other projects and most importantly taking care of my kids (Mrs is a 3 to 11 RN on rotating schedule), I already dont have time for myself. Im lucky if anything gets past initial mock up. the paint looks fine in person. Not perfect, but Its also not a contest model.

I did a wheel and tire swap but thats probably gonna be it for the foreseeable future. Im honestly enjoying just having it. I would like to polish the paint to bring some shine back. I tagged you in my 62 Fairlane Im messing with

@Snake45 Heres my 62 Fairlane Im playing with
-
Ill have to check if I have one in stock, I do have a few 65 Comets I can always steal the motor from. Nothing Im doing is altering the body and interior other than adding the tach and shifter. The chassis was cut open, the motor was in the engine compartment free floating and crooked. The motor has a bunch of holes drilled into it due to the previous owner trying to get the ride height "right", which I preserved when I set up the raders and twin pins. The wheels and tires are sitting under my survivor vette already and honestly look much better under that I have a number of chassis I can modify. Im just trying to not turn it into a project because if I do, it wont get done haha

I keep looking at it, do I leave it alone do, do I go mild custom since it has the meteor tail panel, do I turn it into a super stocker... I've been thinking it over since I bought it By the early 60s, customs had a bit of a nose down rake, chrome steelies and raders (the original company spelling) were popular, as were twin pin whitewalls and cheater slicks... I happen to have a 289 from a Cobra with webers, a 4 speed, and the Cobra dress up valve covers... I couldn't NOT mock it up tonight since the kids were playing quietly ... heres where I'm at. once I get a new chassis plate, I'll paint that, clean up, repaint and wire the engine. I plan to paint the engine bay and the rear wheels will either be chromed or black. I added a tach and shifter from my parts box with the appropriate amount of wear on them as well.

so I found this 62 Fairlane promo on Ebay. it has great green paint and trim work. nice clear windows, a clean interior and 4 hole slots on some nice tires, ALSO it has a modified 63 Mercury Meteor tail panel which looks awesome on it. .. the chassis plate has been modified so I'm gonna find another one. The goal here was to build off of the original builders idea while putting my spin on it. here are the before photos

chris chabre replied to 62rebel's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Ive always looked at this kit(s) and thought, man they already did most of the work to turn it into a nasty drag car haha Id love to have a few in my stash and Im not even a mustang guy -
takes me right back to my days of drooling over 90s era prostreet cars! Cant wait to see more Mike!

got my Vette and Cobra survivors today. I wanted the Custom vette, but the drag vettes are cool too. Silver one has a hemi amd webers, red 9ne has a blower motor and tilt front end.. the Cobra has halibrands. all I've done so far is wash the custom vette and replace the tires with AMT parts pack twin pins I have a set of unmelted wheels on the way as well. the goal is to preserve the build exactly how it is

what if Purple People Eater was a roadster??? Drag City Casting 32 roadster body, parts box frame and motor, there's a American Graffiti grille shell on it now and the front axle and wheels are from a diecast Garlits dragster...
