Paint look great! Panel lines are a bit dark. It is a great kit!

Don't take this the wrong way please. If you put some effort in presenting your work - the model you spent a lot of time building - the proper way, people would comment and respond. Taking blurry pictures on a model box from strange angles, with other stuff in the background is not a very interesting or conducive for commenting. Start with getting a piece of white or gray poster board and curve it against a wall to have a backdrop, and take pictures of your model from a low level as if you are standing next to it. It will create a much more realistic view and uncluttered presentation that will focus on your model. Hope this helps. I like the model btw, its a crappy kit, but you made a good looking Porsche for your shelf!

Correct. Early Ladas were pretty much simplified and cheapified versions of Fiat 124.

Yup, that is a beauty of working with brass - it is much stronger than plastic or resin, so once something is done, it stays there. Critical for moving bits like hinges. Thanks! -

The model is complete. I have finished all glass pieces, taillights, headlights, mirrors, decals: Finished model chassis: Couple of finished pix with the hardtop: And without: Overall, I didn't like the kit. I thought the fit was poor, atypical for Tamiya in general. The way the some parts were designed left a lot to be desired, as some assembled buts look unfinished, with gaps visible, etc. Glass is way too thick for a convertible model, hardtop not fitting right. I made it work, but its not a usual solid Tamiya. -
Who makes the engine bits for it?

Classic E24 shark. Built it some time ago, its a great kit. I see you went with the shadowline trim option?

Nice! If you haven't picked the color yet, I vote Baikal (lake I'm from) or Taiga. Its a great kit. I have it in my to do pile.

Looks good. What do you use to make the molds? What brand resin? -

One of the reasons I made the hood out of brass is the fact that you can solder stuff to it! That comes handy when you need to solder a hinge to the hood IMG_1576 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Cleaned up the solder a bit, will still do more before painting: IMG_1577 by Italian Horses, on Flickr IMG_1578 by Italian Horses, on Flickr IMG_1579 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Refined the hinge saddle inside: IMG_1580 by Italian Horses, on Flickr IMG_1581 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Checked the clearance - all looks good! This was built for a contest on another scale model website where you supposed to build a Tamiya kit box-stock with just ONE aftermarket addition. I picked seatbelts. Plus, I don't have tan flocking! Thank you all! Thank you! You could pick the boot color I'm sure. I'm not trying to build a replica of a particular car, and I admit I didn't spend much time researching the color options - tan just wouldn't look right in my opinion. Not really, I just reduced the paint with 91% isopropyl instead of the actual thinner, and it dries a bit faster creating a bit of a sheen with flat acrylics. Thanks! -

Much appreciated! Yes, I did use wash for panel lines. Its a Tamiya Smoke, which is translucent grey color, and perfect for this kind of work. -

Thank you! I don't know how to edit my original post, but I took some better studio pictures of the model, so I just gonna post them here: 01 by Italian Horses, on Flickr 02 by Italian Horses, on Flickr 03 by Italian Horses, on Flickr 04 by Italian Horses, on Flickr 05 by Italian Horses, on Flickr 06 by Italian Horses, on Flickr 07 by Italian Horses, on Flickr 08 by Italian Horses, on Flickr 09 by Italian Horses, on Flickr 10 by Italian Horses, on Flickr 11 by Italian Horses, on Flickr -

Such a cool car, somewhat underappreciated. Looks great in yellow.

Monogram had surprisingly correct shape for a 308 while a lot of others who made this kit didn't. Unusual to see this one on orange!
-
Chuck a piece of clear part tree into a dremel and sand it down. You also shape it like a bulb!
-
Looks good. If you use clear rod, and then put some foil at the back end, it will look even better.

Had to mix interior color to match the photo from the following colors: IMG_1459 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Don't know the exact proportions, but I'd say something like 10:3:1 IMG_1460 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Color turned out to be spot on, very pleased with it: IMG_1538 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Detail painted all interior bits: IMG_1551 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Dashboard completed: IMG_1559 by Italian Horses, on Flickr And finished interior. Added some seatbelts since this is a convertible and interior will be easily seen. Thank you. For vac forming you need to have a part that is correct in dimensions and shape, and I didn't have that. Plus brass is correct thickness for scale sheet metal. I have done panels from brass before, this is really only possible with simpler parts like this hood For example, you can't re-create the crease on the doors with this material - too fine. -

Very nice detail work on the engine. I know you can't really see it, but I would drill inside the velocity stacks. Following this for sure!
