  1. Thank you! Yup, that is a great kit! Thanks!
  2. Shaping up nicely!
  3. Interior looks fantastic!
  4. Thank you! Moving on to the interior. Picking the color for S13 was easy - seemingly it was offered in gray, or... dark gray. Was probably easy to keep clean Painted everything in base colors: IMG_1677 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Detail-painted all the bits and pieces: IMG_1680 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Finished dashboard: IMG_1689 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Completed interior: DSC_0037 by Italian Horses, on Flickr DSC_0039 by Italian Horses, on Flickr I'm on a home stretch with this one now!
  5. All that closeness to the seawater didn't do it any favors, huh? Terrific little bugger!
  6. Thanks! I didn't really do anything special for the headlights. Thank you! It is a looker in 1:1 for sure! Thanks! Chrome is kit chrome. I just painted the spokes. Used the paint from one of those gold paint markers, brush painted between the spokes, then just airbrushed the faces.
  7. Thank you, really appreciate it. I have just finished number 6 since starting on April 1st. So not quite one per week pace, but I guess close to it. its fun and quick when you build these puppies box-stock and don't have to worry much about adding detail and researching color options - its all in the box/instruction sheet. Especially with Tamiya kits and quick drying paints. Clean, paint, assemble. Lol, the brush is new. Xacto is sort of new-ish...I had to clean it with thinner to get all the crud off. Thanks! Thank you!
  8. That's the beauty of Tamiya injection moulding. Even simple kits have excellent molded detail.
  9. Thanks! Using putty because it will be stronger, it bonds better to resin than glue would, and mostly, because I can press the part together and make an indent on the putty that would be a perfect fit once it cures. Its just easier and quicker. So true about test fitting everything a thousand times... For now I'm assembling everything on tape and tack glue, but eventually I will be adding locator pins and possibly magnets.
  10. Well done, could benefit from some panel lines accent. Unusual to see it in this color!
  11. Next phase was making sure interior parts fit the body and the chassis. Made the interior piece straight by boiling it in water: IMG_1570 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Also bent the front body piece to correct curve: IMG_1569 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Fixed the chassis to the body, I started fitting interior elements: IMG_1564 by Italian Horses, on Flickr IMG_1565 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Dashboard is not poured all the way, and had a huge hole in it. IMG_1567 by Italian Horses, on Flickr You think this will be noticeable on the completed model? Really Airtrax? IMG_1563 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Or maybe this gap in the back? How can you make a kit where parts don't fit to each other THAT bad? IMG_1562 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Filled the gap with some putty: IMG_1571 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Before I could fill the dash, decided to fit the firewall - used modified piece from Italeri kit. IMG_1574 by Italian Horses, on Flickr IMG_1573 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Still lots to do before I can even call this a kit!
  12. Thank you! Much appreciated! Yes, some resin kits are a chore to build! This one is one of those. There are some great resin kits though, some are even better moulded than plastic injected kits are! Thank you, will have an update soon!
  13. Thank you! Another update on this project. Masked off the trim: IMG_1697 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Sprayed matt black: IMG_1698 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Also painted inside the body shell: IMG_1699 by Italian Horses, on Flickr Took off the masks, polished the body - almost done! 14. Yeah, I don't believe this forum existed 20 years ago!
  15. Thank you! I spent some time making sure the color scheme was authentic. Took couple of tries to get that "80-s blue" for the interior just right.
  16. Turned out better than I thought it would! Thank you!
  17. Thank you guys! Haha, you definitely should! These are great kits.
  18. While this might not be my type of subject, it is definitely my type of model building! Super clean and very neatly built! Paint looks terrific, and excellent photos too.
  19. Dann, turned out excellent! Striking color scheme that work really well with these wheels! Very nice indeed!
