  1. Get yourself some Oven Pride, it's available from most supermarkets, although I've found it cheaper at B&M, stripes the chrome and the lacquer underneath, I've also used it for stripping paint off as well, just make sure you use rubber gloves, it's not good on skin.....
  2. Very realistic weathering.....
  3. Very probably, I've boxes if negatives and transparency film and prints stored in boxes, I left British Leyland in 1985 and changed my career and started off as a professional photographer, I had to,as my bank manager told me when I needed a mortgage, "Go and get a proper job" so I ended up at Volkswagen-Audi, I still did my photography part time and then left V.A.G after 6 years, I've been self employed ever since. Here's a shot I found a few weeks ago while looking through some old photos, a few drinks after work in Germany, I'm not looking too happy as my beer glass is empty.
  4. Very nice build, when I came to England in 1976, my English teacher had one of these in pretty much the same colour, loved the car, not the teacher so much......
  5. True, as the Golfs were produced for the U.S market, my job involved travelling to Germany many times a year, I always saw VW's that never made it to the U.K
  6. I worked for V.A.G UK, (Volkswagen Audi group) I still remember seeing one of these and thinking someone at Wolfsburg was having a laugh, after I learnt what it was, my next question was Why ???
  7. Not exactly "On the Road " but it's not every day you spot a British Army Daimler Ferret, it was outside the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum
  8. Got a little bored this evening, and found myself looking on eBay, popped in a bid for this and luckily no one else put in a bid, so after moving to London last week, I should have a stash down here when it's delivered in a few days, ok, one model really isn't a stash....
  9. Nice finish on the paintwork
  10. I'm really not the person that knows American cars that well that I can tell you the differences between the different years, I do know that the front grille was different as was the chrome trim along the sides.
  11. That's got to be the quickest I've got all the parts for a model painted, all done in one day, just the padded seat, which I'm not sure if I'll be using it yet.
  12. Revell Porsche tractor painted, not too bad straight from the spray booth, nice and shiny with no dust nibs visible
  13. I've done it exactly the same, just try not to burnish the aluminium too much.
  14. Everything has now been primed, ready for the colour coats tomorrow, luckily there's only 3 colours, red, cream and black.
  15. There's still 13 U.S military bases left in the UK including RAF Lakenheath, RAF Croughton, RAF Digby, RAF Welford, RAF Fairford, RAF Feltwell, RAF Upwood, RAF Barford St John, RAF Fylingdales and RAF Menwith Hill.
  16. At one time I wouldn't know one tractor from another, but a few years ago I was the Midlands correspondent for the Classic car weekly magazine, part of the job was attended classic car and transport shows around the Midlands area, taking photos and interviewing owners of classic cars, at a lot of the shows there was usually a good selection of classic trucks and tractors, in the end I pretty knew every type of tractor out there.
  17. I'm sure it will turn out just fine Gareth, looking forward to seeing your build.
  18. You wouldn't be the first to do that Mike....
  19. I've got a few other tractor models to build, Revell's Deutz and Heller's little grey Fergie, and the French Ferguson FF-30
  20. I'm hoping I can get some more work done on it before I have to put my modelling on the backburner for a while, I'm moving back down to London the weekend, and hopefully my photography work will start to pick up again.
  21. After painting and polishing, Bare Metal foil has got to be my next favourite part of model building, I still remember using it for the first time back in the early 1990's, I never thought I'd get the hang of it, luckily I stuck at it, after about 25 years of using it, I think I've got the hang of it now.....
