Swapping wheels gives me a lot of frustration too. Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes it’s not. Even though I buy lots of Evergreen, I still clip off and save large or long straight sections of sprue off the trees. A good quality set of drill bits is essential too. A lathe is really nice to have, but a cordless drill can suffice for most tasks. Edit: And don’t throw any unused parts away.

If you blew one why are you replacing them all? If it was just the one you could possibly replace it with a block heater that is sealed with an O-ring…more expensive likely but easier to install. If you are running straight water in the system, consider switching to antifreeze. Not only won’t it freeze, but it has a lot better cooling properties than water.

I added a couple of little tabs to the body in front of where the tabs on the hood are located. It seens to keep the hood from skewing off to one side. Knowing this kit however, by the time I get to final assembly, the hood may well sit wonky again.?

I rarely mask attachment points anymore. I either scrape the paint off and use Tamiya thin if it’s a structural joint, or use epoxy or CA over the paint.

DeLorean car bodies were made of stainless steel.

Great tip. Much easier than trying to get a consistent paint line that narrow.

Great job on stretching that sprue.? Don’t be scared, it’s only plastic.? The hardest part of a vinyl roof is the trim and seams. These two are just Tamiya XF-86 flat clear over a gloss black. Spray from a bit of a distance so that you get a slightly textured finish.

Like Karl said, try scrubbing it while submerged. You could also try sanding it smooth, sealing it and painting over it? What paint is it?

I’m not really known for doing that?…but the axles attach to the leaf springs which are part of the frame rails. I can probably attach the three rear crossmembers and still spread the rails enough to slip the engine into place. But it has to be in place before the front axle goes in.

If it came off easily, try soaking it again and scrubbing it with an old toothbrush. Alternately you could make your own sanding sticks. I use coffee stir sticks and 3M automotive double faced tape to make mine. Just whittle them down to the width needed.

Casting of model parts can be done using silicone molds and resin.

Unfortunately with this kit, the engine IS the front frame crossmembers, so the frame and suspension can’t be built without the completed engine.?

Not much progress on this one yet. I’ve been busy finishing up the ‘49 Merc and still fiddling with the ‘41 Plymouth. Anyways… I have been redoing the mounts on most of the engine accessories. I drilled out the horn and the carb and remounted the ?? backfire arrestor? I want to add plug wires so I built a wire routing loom from 1/16” brass tube. The kit has nice molded in spark plugs, but I think they are too tiny to drill for the 0.012” wire I plan to use. Plus one plug is broken so I will have to think of another option.
