The OP started the other thread also and never responded to any of the comments. ? It all boils down to your definition of profit.

Now if someone’s Dad had built that car…or someone had $80-$100,000 invested in it themselves, what’s another $1200. to have a replica on the mantle?

As others have said, no one is pissed off…they are just being realistic and practical. Can you make a bit of profit off building a model? You can if you don’t expect an hourly wage. Can you do it often enough to make a decent living from it…like a career? I doubt it? Like you said…keep your day job! The most lucrative customer would likely be someone with very deep pockets that owns a unique custom car that they have an emotional attachment to. Wealthy folks do pay stupid money for stupider things.

I had it in Super Clean and it didn’t even want to touch the Tamiya clear. So I soaked in isopropanol. Now that the clear is gone, I will try the SC again. If that doesn’t work then it’s brake fluid next. ? -
Outstanding build! The level of scratch building and attention to detail is absolutely amazing! Here’s a link to the under glass thread. Check it out.

I don’t like a lot of rake on full size cars or ones that have a lot of rear overhang. That is perfect! The grill opened up is a huge improvement! Looking great!? -

That is exactly how I do mine. I will glue the boot into the head first and then enlage with a needle or drill bit. I can then shove a fair amount of excess plug wire through it. The paint is looking good.?

Wow, this is coming together nicely. Great scratch building skills on the bumper and roof rack.? That is a neat idea on getting the snorkel contoured to fit the body shape too….I’ll have to remember that one. -

Very sharp, clean build!?

Looking good so far Bob! I like those wheels and tires. I may have to grab one of those Foose kits just for parts.

I paint in my garage, but there is a sticky in the Tips and Tricks section on paint booths and safe ventilation.

Well I’ve been back on this one lately. There’s not a lot left to do. I got the interior finished and the floor pan and firewall are now glued in place. I finished up the front end as well with some scratch built headlights and turn signals. The radiator and fan are permanently mounted now also. I scratch built disc brakes for it from some thin aluminum and styrene bits. I wasn’t going to wire the engine, but after I did the battery and winch cables I figured it needed some plug wires at least. With the GM 14 bolt rear in there I needed some 8 lug rims, so I made some resin copies of the ones from the Revell GMC plow truck and the tires are from Scenes Unlimited. Now I need to get the windows in it and scratch build some side mirrors. The vent window divider is part of a Bobby pin.? -
