  1. These are some I’ve made. I don’t think I’ve had two engines fit the same stand.?
  2. Looking great Charles! Your attention to detail is inspiring.?
  3. Nice! They don’t make ‘em like that anymore I bet!?
  4. For the vinyl roof trim, I started with the two sharp curves on either side of the trunk. I punched a 1/4” hole in some .015” styrene and then trimmed and sanded it to shape. I had to make a relief for the trim at the bottom of the rear side windows. I glued a narrow strip of .010” styrene to a wider heavier piece and then added a narrow strip of self adhesive sandpaper. The wider piece acted like a depth stop so that I could only sand to a .020” depth. ? A little clean up with a file and I glued in a piece of .020” sheet and filed it roughly to shape. For the side pieces I used some narrow vinyl tape and eyeballed the slight ogee curve. Then I covered it with masking tape so it would keep it’s shape when I pulled it off. I made a pattern and transferred it back to masking tape which I then used as a guide for gluing down some .015 x .020 strip. It needs a bit of sanding and smoothing yet, and I still have to do the seams on the roof, but I think it turned out ok.?
  5. Well that sounds like a brilliant solution Paul! The heat sources I’ve tried either don’t have the pin point accuracy that the hot glue would, or are way too hot. Thanks for the tip!?
  6. AMT ‘36 Ford. Just a quick and dirty mockup. I don’t know what wheels or tires I’m using yet. I do like these kit wheels though.?
  7. El Nomino or El Novino? ?
  8. I agree. Is the Airfix model supposed to represent an actual engine, or just a theoretical teaching aid? In reality it would need a sealed crankcase of some sort.?
  9. Dang that looks good! Hard to believe it is 1/43.?
  10. Looks pretty good! Sooner or later I’m going to have to try weathering something.?
  11. Yes, engine colours look good. Is it my eyes, or does that coil wire go to the vacuum canister? But with the air cleaner on it just looks like a vacuum tube.?
  12. Got a bit more done on this one. The paint is Mr. Color Russet mixed 50/50 with Mr. Color levelling thinner. I scratch built some shifter levers from welding wire since the t/c shifters in the kit were pretty ugly.? The winch is a warn 8274 from Olsen Bros. I still have to wind the cable I made onto it. The hood has a slight twist and doesn’t want to sit down nice, so I will have to make a set of functional latches somehow.?
  13. Thanks David. I have downloaded quite a few pics. It’s not an easy molding to make. I don’t think I can get any styrene strip to curve that sharp without heating it. So I think I may have to cut the section on each side of the trunk from sheet stock and file to shape.?
  14. That paint job looks beautiful!?
  15. This is the Revell kit from Germany. I would like to put a vinyl top on it. Other than that it will be pretty much out of box. One thing I noticed while trying to map out the chrome roof trim is that the creases between the rear fenders and the B pillar seem to be too sharp. Other than that, the body looks to be very nice! Depending on the color of the car and the angle, it can be fairly pronounced to looking almost smooth. So I added a slight radius to it with some milliput. Once this has set up well, I will re-examine the possibility of adding a vinyl roof. ? All comments or advice welcome.
  16. How does it look so far? Well it’s looking great! It is gonna be a really cool rig, I’m sure of that!?
  17. Can you post a picture of it if it’s different from the ones shown? I don’t have one, but maybe you need to bend the ends of the springs slightly so they get a better grip in the holes? It looks like there are multiple holes for adjusting the tension on the Tamiya stand.
  18. I started this one years ago just on a piece of paper to compare some colors. I had some colored plastic sheet that I had no use for, so I primed it and started a new one. Each square is 3/4”x 1”. Now I just have to remember to paint a parch every time I open new paint or different colour…or I could sit down one day and do all of my stock. I have two more of these in case I run out of space.?
  19. Can this stuff be used with Tamiya or Mr. Color laquers as well as their acrylics? Thanks.
  20. Nice job on that. I have cast a Willys pickup cab and and a lot of miscellaneous stuff. It is a rewarding experience when you pull that cab out of the mold.?
  21. I’m getting the same.
  22. Nice start!? I had an ‘84 and ‘91. They were nice little trucks.
