  1. Thanks everyone. I get lots of ideas and inspiration from all of you so I am happy whenever I get a chance to contribute something in return.šŸ™‚
  2. Girlfriend and wife should hopefully be one and the same.
  3. Fabulous work on that interior Dennis!šŸ‘šŸ˜Ž
  4. A lot of kits have not much more than a lump for a rad cap. Here is how I make better ones. Glue two pieces of 0.030ā€ or 0.040ā€ half round to a piece of 0.080ā€ round stock. Drill a 0.020ā€-0.030ā€ (depending on what small styrene rod you have) hole in the center and countersink it slighty with a 1/16ā€ drill bit. Slice off a sliver (I used a razor saw to get a straight cut). Push the small rod in flush to the top (you can add a small spacer if to want to add an overflow tube). Drill a mounting hole in the rad and glue in place. Keep the leftover chunk for the next time you need one.šŸ™‚
  5. Looks really great!šŸ‘
  6. Event horizon is what I started out researching and when I crawled back out of the rabbit hole that consisted of all sorts of theoretical stuff like black holes and time travel over an hour had elapsed.
  7. I should have made some positive bumper mounts sooner. The lumps at the rear are what I assume would be the mounts on a 1:1, but they are about 1/8ā€ short of touching the bumper.😔 The only contact points on both bumpers is the painted body….so after locating them both with a small amount of CA, I attached some tabs to bridge the gap with epoxy. After a bit of paint they won’t be too noticeable.😬 I had to lengthen the upper rad hose and shorten the lower one. I’m pretty sure I have the rad in correctly, but when I made a shallow rad cap the hood would not close flush. So I converted the rad to a cross flow sort of. The rad should have been lowered a bit I think.šŸ¤”
  8. Steve, your attention to detail is amazing and your fit and finish talents are second to none.šŸ˜Ž
  9. No Carl, this was two separate orders. One was the sand/polishing discs and mandrels. The other was the sanding drums and mandrels.
  10. Cool project Dave! I like this era of Beaumonts. I had a ā€˜69 with a 307? and also a ā€˜68 Chevelle 4dr i6 and powerglide.
  11. Welcome to the forum Marcus. I prefer tamiya extra thin, but I am starting to use thin CA more and more.
  12. Ooh, I like that purple one too! Is that this kit? I wonder if the putty is still good?šŸ¤“ I see you didn’t use the snow tires.šŸ˜Ž
  13. They don’t disappear right away, or maybe not always? Here’s a screenshot of my post on Feb 28/24.
  14. Love it! The scratch built interior is beautiful….heck, the whole thing is beautiful ! Well done!šŸ˜Ž
  15. Some sanding drums and discs. I almost took this box to the club meeting to sell…glad I didn’t now.
  16. I google images of the vehicle I want to build. I will add ā€œcustomā€, ā€œchoppedā€, or whatever other qualities I may be looking for in the search bar.
  17. The emojis above are alternating…sad from my iPad, happy from the forum. I can not copy the address bar (on my iPad) and paste it into a thread to create a link. I used to be able to… but now I have to copy the address, paste it into note pad and then copy the link from notepad and paste it into a thread here like so: https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/196451-stoopid-internet-answers%3F/#comment-2972629 My original post in that thread should end with an emoji instead of the question mark. I can still copy and paste links fine on other forums. Thanks, Greg.
  18. Thanks Joe!šŸ™‚ Here is a link to my build thread: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/175855-chopped-and-tubbed-ā€˜32-ford/
  19. I was looking over some of my past posts and noticed that my sentences often end with a period and question mark. I thought I had fat fingers at first. Then I realized that the emoji’s that I use from my iPad keyboard all get replaced with the question mark after a time. When I look at a past comment or compliment I gave someone, it might be taken as sarcasm if the reader thinks I typed the question mark. Other forum members emoji’s have also disappeared I notice. I imagine using the emoji’s from the board will not disappear? It’s just that they are tiny and not as good a selection.šŸ˜•šŸ™‚šŸ˜•šŸ™‚
  20. Thanks Fellas!šŸ˜Ž I detailed the grill and bumpers today.
  21. Equipment malfunctions can usually be traced back to a lack of proper maintenance.
  22. I would try this first. I think it would give the best chrome look to the ridges. If you don’t like the results you can peel the foil off and try the paint on eraser method?
  23. That’s how I operate.🄓 You on the other hand, must have the talent to get everything perfect on the first crack…kudos!šŸ™‚
  24. Wow, you guys were a lot more advanced childhood builders than I was. It never even dawned on me to add plug wires. I grew up on a farm just outside of a very small town…so no contests to enter. The local Macleods or Allied hardware stores sold some model kits, tube glue and some Testors bottle paints…that was it for modeling supplies. So not much incentive to improve my skills. I did however hack an El Camino out of a Chevelle once and probably used wood filler for putty?šŸ™„
  25. Coming along nicely Len. I like that yellow on it.šŸ˜Ž The window crank idea is really cool!
