  1. Agree with Tim that the rad shell ought to line up horizontally with the cowl. Depending on the the amount that the body is sectioned or channeled will determine if the grill needs to be sectioned to avoid scrapping the ground. With my example below the body was channeled and the rad shell sectioned a scale three inches to give it its stance. Fairly straight forward procedure, even when using the chrome grill. Cheers Misha
  2. Sad day indeed, rest in peqce Harry. You will be missed by all the modelling community, we will miss your comments and skills in building museum quality replicas of subjects a lot of us would br intimidated to tackle. Personally I have enjoyed each build Harry has posted and will miss that aspect. God speed Harry, Condloences to all his family and friends, Misha
  3. Having also seen Adam's Camaro up close at the Modelrama it certainly is a very deserved win. You've handled all the various aspects so well, assembly, paint, stance, detailing, (esp the liner idea). Plus reading how this build is a return back to modeling makes me want to se your next few builds! It's great to see your Camaro on the forum, welcome. Cheers Misha
  4. Greetings Frank, Not sure if this will answer your question.... The AMT recent reissue of the 56 Ford Crown Victoria has as part of its custom version the wide V or gull wing addition used on the Canadian Meteors. Back in the day we had a 56 Meteor Niagara with this prominent addition to the grill. If this is what you're looking for, I'm unsure of it fitting the 58 grill, as the 57-8 models were substantially changed. Hope this helps, Misha
  5. A group of us from Victoria and area ventured off of Vancouver Island. Our club SPAM (which Phil above is a charter member) made a day of it beginning in the early morning in order to catch the first ferry across the Strait to Vancouver and Burnaby. Once on the mainland we had a mandatory stop at a LHS that even opened earlier for us. The plan was to have another LHS stop on the way back to the ferry after the Vancouver Auto Modelrama. The event, as can be experienced thru Phil's photos (see above) very well. The build quality was very high throughout and the themes for Camaro's 50th and Car Tunes were a treat. Vendor area was well attended and the door prizes were bountiful. Perhaps the best part is getting together to talk cars and models, especially if you attend for the entire day. The awards were numerous as there were many categories with first thru to third being handed out. All categories were well attended for the most part which allowed for many choices. On the way to the ferry after our second hobby shop stop we arrived in plenty of time for the seven PM sailing, only to discover it was to be delayed for an hour. And a bit. A long adventure, well worth it. Good travelling companions and conversations, and plenty to see. Thanks to the Vancouver Automotive Model Builders for hosting a great event. Cheers Misha
  6. Wishing all well as I'll be unable to be there. Last year was such a great time and a chance to meet so many of you. Joining you in spirit and wishing great success! Misha 'the Canuck from the Cowichan'??
  7. Congrats James on your build and thanks for sharing it on the forum, welcome! Been following your build as I'm a big fan of the "Vicky" and yours is a gem. The overall stance is bang on and your work on the interior really paid off. While this is an older kit, it remains a favorite for it's adaptability with newer parts to kit bash it. The very basic interior is a great opportunity to detail it and you made look great. The paint job really makes it an eye popper! Cheers Misha
  8. Wild eye candy! The attitude is impressive, the wide whites offer a neat contrast, plus the colour... It's a winner! Congrats Misha
  9. One way to prevent the bleeding is to spray a clear coat (gloss or matte depending on the finish under the tape) that will seal the tape join, then follow up with your contrasting colour. It is more work, yet worthwhile. Cheers Misha
  10. Not sure if anyone has tried this; faced with spreading the embossing powder evenly, I turned the container into a shaker. First step was to remove the liner from underneath the lid. Using an X-Acto circle cutter a centred hole was cut from the plastic lid (requires a certain amount of patience) and a corresponding doughnut was cut from blue making tape. The tape holds the plumber's screen in place under the lid, and is followed by the original plastic/paper liner, also with a hole in the centre. Thinking of running a bead of CA glue around the opening from the top to better secure the screen in place. To seal the shaker after use I cut a new seal, slightly smaller from thin cardboard and place it on the container before screwing the lid on. Hope this is usefull, Cheers Misha
  11. Very sweet build, closer one looks... the details abound, the gentle weathering, then there's the contrast with the roof! The nearly done interior with just the right look to be believable. An amazing finish to what is hard to describe as a slumpbuster... can't wait to see more! Congrats Misha
  12. Great idea Tony! Ive always liked the dealer displays and the thought of scratch building them is brilliant. It makes for a wonderul collection. Thanks for sharing your work. Cheers Misha
  13. That is a beautiful build Mitch! Your attention to detailing the engine compartment, chassis and the interior plus the overall finish on the body makes this jewel shine. Always been a Chapparal/Jim Hall fan and have built the IMC kit a couple of times since it's release. Still have one in the stash and your build will be my inspiration. Congrats, Misha
  14. I have used the DM fans for a number of builds with success. It is difficult to get a clear shot of the fan once installed, yet I have a 67 Vette with a 427 as a WIP and the fan hasn't been installed yet. It requires a certain amount of patience to bend and assemble the multiple pieces into one whole, well worth it though. My construction leaves out the bolts that connect the fan to the pulley, as that remains unseen in most cases. Hope this helps you visualize the assembly. Cheers Misha
  15. Getting the right ingredients! Porsche seats will really suit your build. Waiting to see more! Cheers Misha
  16. That's a terrific alteration to the original kit! Makes a lot sense in shortening the hood and the section job. Congrats Bill. For the top treatment, I prefer the half top from the Ford kit. It fits the top windshield frame angle. Great looks, I'll be following! Cheers Misha
  17. ? Thanks for the info on the Alclad, I don't mind skipping primer and black, if not required. I just finished the latest Camaro snap and in reviewing the glue kit, the front grills/vents are seperate pieces. Though overall happy with latest tech. I understand about the Pooch.
  18. Great to see it done in scale, and so quickly after the 1:1 completion! You have done an amazing job overall; getting the body shape, the underhood fairings, and a very detailed interior. Great work and congrats!
  19. I like the direction you're taking with this "basic" kit Michael. The snappers can be more challenging at times. The body colour also reminds me of the McQueen Bullit Mustang. Is the Alclad finish on bare black plastic the same as gloss black paint? Too bad about the dog hair, it is always frustrating to do a repaint. How about shaving the dog! ? Cheers Misha
  20. Really nice tribute to the "Mystery Engine" George. Always enjoy the historical model depictions. Didn't realize that the Chevy drought lasted a decade. Nice collection! Congrats. Misha
  21. Very smoooth Rodney! Colours are a great match. Are the hood sides aftermarket or did you modify them, and are those the 36 headlight? I agree, More Hot Rods!
  22. Very sweet ride Ron! Always like the Shoebox clean look, an old kit that still measures up, glad its been re-released. Your build looks great, congrats! Cheers Misha
  23. Just spent some time rolling thru your shots Tim. What a great exhibit of street rods, hot rods, customs, strip runners; a gearhead's dream come true! Plenty of inspiration and ideas for building in scale. Perhaps the most jaw dropping example is the Voodoo Sahara, that's certainly qualifies as unique. Also greatly enjoyed thr detail engine shots. Thanks Tim, it was almost like being there! Cheers Misha
  24. Great paint scheme Bill! Your build came out very nicely, plus the Opel makes it a great match. Congrats Misha
