sheet styrene to scratch build a popup camper
cheyenne93 replied to youpey's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This is one I scratch built with styrene. I think if you laid it out and scribe the ribs, then use a flat or nail file, holding it at an angle , the results would be real close to what your wanting to achieve. -

The tan and gold I never saw until I bought mine. Then about a year later another one showed up in town. We had same wheels, only difference was the hoods, as mine was originally a turbo so had a scoop and his did not. For along time couln't figure out why so many people waving as we passed, till one day we both pulled into the same car wash. I think we both had to do a double take. ? -
Making a little progress on the 73 stang. Man this is a frustrating kit. The towers for the rear axle set to far toward the rear of the chasis. So I cut them out and used just the rear differential and leaf springs and made an axle housing for it. Her is what I have so far. Will add a couple of pics that show what I had to do to the chasis.

I like what u did with it. considering what you had to work with. I am currently working on this kit for the CBR it's a tough kit to get things rite on. Ya did good!!?
-
Well the mustang needs a lot of sanding to get the rear quarter lines and A pillars correct. A pillars were way to wide so narrowed them and scribed new molding lines. Took a few pics that are not the best, but I think the lines can be seen.
-
Got the rear quarter lines sanded out on the stang. Also had to rework the A piller lines as they were way wider than what they should have bean. Tried to get a couple of descent pics.

Glad I checked out this post. I am building this kit for the cannonball entry. I also was thinking that neither motor in the kit seemed rite. Gotta look through the stash, think I have a better looking 302 or 351. I will also work out the rear quarter lines.

Thanks It was a bit of a challenge (amt). over all looks pretty OK.

I took a pair of wider wheels that I new I would never use. Same diameter as the cragar. Judged about how wide I wanted to go and cut that much off the wheel. Then removed the bead from the narrow cragar and glued what I took off the wider wheel to it. I have done this with several sets of wheel. Most kits nowadays don't come with staggered wheels, and I am partial to the old school wide back narrow front.
-
Thanks the rear wheels are ones that I widened.

Thanks. The color was something I dug out of the paint cabinet. Don't even remember what I originally got it for.
