What a shame!

I always loved the 240Z. IMHO a very iconic sports car. It definitely was in a class of its own. Nothing was like this in 1870. All the rest like the RX7 and the likes were born of the 240Z. I'd love to own one someday. -
that's beautiful !

Totally agree. I;d have never believed these were brush painted looking at the pics. Wow...maybe we should all try brush painting LOL !! -
Very nice. Lime Gold...The best color Shelby ever !

The key I find is if it has macro mode and digital zoom. I fins that my pics have a better depth of field if I take the picture from further away, and zoom it in. I bought a Fuji camera too for like 199. This is my photo set up and I get really good pics. Here is the thing....the last set of pictures I took and posted were from my Iphone, and they were as good as my camera ! So as Jonathan said above its more about the lighting and background than the camera. Here is my set up. PICS taken quite a while back. and I got this picture. This is just a inexpensive camera in macro mode.

Anybody have this problem?

It's all part of the thing called model building. Can't tell you now many times that's happened to me. -
$700 For Model Rims...
Jeff Johnston replied to MikeyB08's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My bet is that some idiot thought they were real wheels. If I were the seller I'd have reached out to the buyer right away and told them to re-read the auction, and that they were model wheels. I doubt it was rigged. He has to pay ebay commission on that sale. Someone thought they were real. -
Rattle Cans - who still uses them?
Jeff Johnston replied to tiking's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Great subject. I think you can get great results with both. Very different techniques though. I generally airbrush bodies even if I have the color in a can. I feel like I have better control. However if I am in the mood to just get it done I'll use the can. I generally always rattle can interiors and chassis and primer. I never clear anymore from a rattle can but I used to, and got descent results. . -

paying it forward

The other board I frequent does that a lot. I tend to put up 3 or 4 things at once a few times a year. I've had folks help with parts, etc. and I like to repay the favor. ALso like Tom said if someone posts a need for a part and I have it, I'll always send it. I cannot tell you how many times a fellow modeler save me with a part or two that I had lost. -
Wow...I just bought a bunch of stuff from Scale Dreams when they had the sale and I guess maybe I should have seen the writing on the wall. I buy most if not all of m,y photo etch and resin tidbits from him. Mt LHS, the one right herein town, moved 45 miles away to the city. That's where I usually buy my paints and basic hobby supplies. I also drive to NYC for work and there is a huge hobby shop in CT that I tend to get a fair amount of supplies from.

Love it !

A Great Corvette Collection

Lord Have Mercy ! I hope he at least drives some of them. I mean, what a shame to have them just sit there. -
The one that got away.
Jeff Johnston replied to Evilbenny's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
only one... I've had many muscle or sports cars, but this is definitely the one that got away. I bought this at 21 in October 1986 and in 1988 had it re-painted. It needed stainless brakes because the stock calipers were famous for sucking air and having no brakes. I almost met Jesus a few times which scared the heck out of me. My every day car was a 1985 MR2. I ran over a spike in the road which sent me into a jersey barrier just about the time the new 1991 MR2 was coming out. State farm totaled the car leaving me to drive the Corvette, with grumpy brakes, every day. I decided to sell the Corvette and buy a bran spanklin' new MR2 Turbo. I could make the payment and I did not want to spend the grand (1991 money) to put all stainless calipers on it. Yeah I know...stupid choice. Hey I was 26 ! I miss this car every day. It had the lower compression 350 (lower than 71 I mean) but let me tell you this this still was super torquey. Real fun car... The MR2 was fun too...lots of fun. I just don;t miss it like the Corvette.. -
Finished this just before NNL east mast month.

Model I would love to see...
Jeff Johnston replied to MikeyB08's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm with you one that one James ! They are nice cars ! -
My point was that its not the subject alone that motivates people to build. It's liking to build too. THE process of building. You have to want to build...if there is a model of a car that someone love but they are not the kind of person who likes to work with their hands, they're not going to build it. I'm not going to build something I don't like either. Nobody does that.

I have shipped items to Austraiia, and Canada and Estonia...when I am sending a model or doing a swap or something. But I don't typically ship outside the US on my ebay stuff because its not easy to calculate what to charge up front for shipping. So its easier to just do US. I usually do say US and Canada but Canadian buyers have to contact me before paying to calculate actual shipping. JJ
