  1. Man, that's looking kool and krisp!! Nice engine details, too.
  2. Awesome work! Killer paint and I love the lime green seat inserts! I'm going back for another look..... Yeah. It still rules!
  3. Nice build!! I love the colour. Who makes this kit? Is it Revell? Looking forward to seeing it all wired-up
  4. This looks really good. You got it sitting just right and the colour suits it. Especially with the red interior
  5. Awesome This has been like reading a good magazine article, or better still, like listening-in on a very knowledgeable discussion at a model club. (I imagine, anyway. I don't think there are model clubs for cars over here. People seem to just have a fixation with military stuff...) I really enjoyed reading this thread. Thanks
  6. Only ever seen old photos of this...a very interesting subject, nicely rendered Looking forward to the finished pics
  7. I love gassers and this is a great example. Really very well built. You nailed it man
  8. Yeah! lovin the nostalgia! This is going to be intensely kool
  9. Superb I love the colour and decals. The rest of it looks amazing. Diggin the nose-weights
  10. I've just got hold of some ProTech lines and fittings for my F/C build. It'll be my first go with these and I'm looking forward to the results. I agree, apart from the excellent engine, the tasty details on the wheels or the glistening paint, I really liked the dirtied-up seatbelt. Made me nod in approval.. Looking forward to the finished pics
  11. Thanks guys I'm pleased with the paint. It's from rattle cans. A quick search on eBay found the candy paint. I also got some in green, for my 51 Anglia van gasser waiting to be built. £6.00 for a 400ml can. Sweet! I haven't rubbed or polished the red. That's just how it came out of the can. I'll top it with clear after applying the decals, then buff it up with polish. Next, I've got to make a fuel valve for the blower scoop and fit some PE linkage to it. More pics asap
  12. I love these old Mini's! I still see a few of them nipping about around London. My wife had an old one, when we met in '87. It was great fun and really easy to fix when it went wrong. My sister had a late '70's 1275 GT. that little thing went like a rocket down country lanes, but was a bit noisy on the motorway. You sit low in these cars and it always feels like you're doing 40mph more than your actual speed! There was a similar car, called a Riley Elf. My wife's mother had one of those. It's got a vertical grille and an extended trunk with pointed-top rear lights. Check it out on Google. I've thought about building the Tamiya Monte Carlo Rally version, but I'd be interested to see how this Revell version turns out. Is your mini damaged? It looks like the left A-pillar is bent.
  13. This is the Polar Lights kit of Gene Snow's Rambunctious funny car. No real problems, so far. Apart from the fittings and braided hose getting lost in the post. I'm going to try and plumb as much as I can on the engine. I'll add a throttle linkage, too. This is what I've done so far.... Fuel lines and other details will be added (once they finally arrive..) Here's the cockpit, which is more or less done. I added a chute release, although I had to use some imagination for it's position as there is very little info on Google images about its' exact placement. I used candy red over metallic gold for the body, chassis and roll cage I added a battery tray, even though I didn't really know if it had one. As the engine has a starter motor, I figured it would need some juice. I have since discovered that it might've not had a battery, but used an auxiliary power supply, connected to terminals on the chassis. To be perfectly honest, this will never be entered into a competition, so it's more of an exercise in testing my abilities and trying new things. I'll add PE bolt heads and anything else that I can think of. I'll post more pics as soon as I make more progress Thanks for looking
  14. Very creative and unique Bravo for using a 3D printer, too. I reckon we'll see a lot more of that in the future
  15. Super clean build and very high standard of finish Thanks for sharing with us
  16. Thanks guys, I'm glad you like it. Here's a shot of the engine. It's pretty basic by modern standards and it's smaller than I'm used to building, but I couldn't resist turning an alternator on my little lathe. i also added the oil tube, rad hose and used fine wire for the drive belts.
  17. I know how it is, Ray. You will see 1,001 things wrong when nobody else notices. I'm guilty of that. But seriously...it's a lovely looking build. Very crisp and clean.
  18. This is it, in a re-pop of the original box art. I think it came out in the '90's. I got it on eBay for about £10.00 I think the scale is 1/32. It measures out at 6" (15cm) long. All of the parts seemed to be there, except the continental kit. The spare wheel was there but not the extended bumper. If you get this kit, you might be lucky, but be prepared for a tough time. The body comprises of about 8 pieces and most of them are warped! It made me appreciate modern kits all the more..!
  19. I think this was a re-issue of a 1959 kit and it sure showed its age. I've never seen so much flash or so many sink-holes. Every panel needed filling, all four tyres had huge craters in the sidewalls. I must admit, this was a real challenge to complete. I had to use clamps and epoxy to get the chassis onto the floorpan and do a lot of brutal trimming to get the interior to fit. I used acetate for the windows, the rear being slightly tinted. i hand painted the whitewalls and scratchbuilt the alternator and oil filler tube. I nearly gave up and it made me question my ability as a model-builder, but here it is....... Done!! thanks for looking
  20. Hi Harry, I hope you got my Impala pics. I emailed you yesterday. The speaker grille was in the kit..
  21. This makes me smile Top class finish and very crisp details
  22. Glad you fixed the ride height. It's a shame Revell don't seem to bother about this during their research and production. I like the non standard colour choice. It's refreshing to see. Very clean build
  23. Very inspired build. I like the way you got the interior from two sources The PE scripts are fantastic and the paint really pops It does sit a tad high at the front, though
  24. Reminds me of the car Boss Hogg drove in D.O.H. (except his was a ragtop, wasn't it?) Lovely clean build. The colour really suits it. Makes it look real The wire wheels are gorgeous
  25. I was thinking the same thing...Aren't they made in Stuttgart? That aside, its a lovely build
