  1. I got my kits today, and I'm going out on a limb and saying this is the best muscle car kit in 1:25 scale ever produced. starting with the decal sheet, which could easily be confused with an after market one. two decals for the gauges (one stock on custom), all the correct decals for the emblems. some nice Drag car decals. and Hoosier Tire decals for the drag tires. two sets of wheels, (Chevy Rallye and Center Line drag wheels). two hoods, the kit manufactures have finally realized what the after market has been doing for years. they included a nice cowl hood in the kit, as well as the SS hood. dual carb setup option for the kits 350. full detail interior with separate center console. and bucket seats. the rear seat can be omitted for the drag car. full detail chassis with a nice set of optional traction bars. the is a great kit, and I can't wait too see what the after market does with it.
  2. do the 4dr cars and 2dr share the same wheelbase?. I have two Revell Nova's on there way to me, and I know i'm going to turn one into a 1970 Yenko Duece. i'm not sure what i'm going to do with the other one. but a plain jane, old lady driven 1969 4dr Nova with a straight six might be the way I want to go.
  3. The wheel size on the KR look correct. but the tires seem to be too tall. (too much sidewall). I applaud Revell for deciding to do the KR instead of the regular GT500. I just hope Revell gives us all the correct detail under the hood. The Hertz wheels appear to be one size too small. but I can deal with that. I'm planning on steeling the wheels out of that kit, put them on an 06 kit and build an 09 Mustang GT (debating on doing the glass roof option)
  4. looks awesome. great build
  5. I just showed the Tesla as an example that we are not seeing the end of fast fun to drive cars. but it will be a while before we see this kind of performance for under $25,000 with tha kind of efficiency. Hyrbids do have a problem right now though. there not all that efficient on the highway. at 60 + MPH. your better of with a Cobalt or a gas only Civic then a Prius. on the last episode of Top Gear. they had a Prius going around the Top Gear test track at full speed. (as fast as it would go), and it was followed by a BMW M3. going just as fast the Prius. they where thrashing the Prius and they only got 17 MPG (Yes you read that right.), and the BMW got 19 MPG. They also mentioned the polution nightmare that are the Prius's battery's. I've owned three vehicles in my life (1995 Geo Prizm, 2001 Hyundai Accent (i'm missing the 40 MPG of that one right now), and a 2001 Ford Ranger. all have been 4cyl. and I don't see myself owning anything but a 4cyl for many years to come. with the current gas prices. I'm currently looking at a Cobalt SS to replace my Ranger.
  6. electric cars doesn't mean it won't be fast. I think I need to show you the Tesla, 0-60 in 4 seconds. 250 miles on a charge. they say the batteries will last 10 years, or 100,000 miiles, its not cheap tho. starts at $90,000 The Camaro is still coming, but GM is debating putting an optional turbo 4cyl in it. which will get 30 MPG's and 250 horsepower. (according to what I've read), at launch early next year the car will have only a V6 and V8 option. Ford also looking into putting there ecoboost turbo 4cyl in the Mustang. and modern cars are still as easy to work on as cars made 40 years ago. look at the people my age (i'm 23) with there modified VW GTI's, and Subaru WRX who do most the work themselves. I do majority of the maintenance work on my 01 4cyl Ranger and I've never encountered and major difficulties with it. new cars are still not hard to work on. you just need to do some research before you do it.
  7. RIP SCOTT  that was a horrible crash, surprised ESPN showed, it looked like he car never slowed down and his car catapulted when he hit the sand then it hit a camera boom, (I hope to camera man on that boom it ok, I'm assuming he is since they haven't said anything about it)
  8. no not really, but I have been buying alot online recently.
  9. most of the grails I want are resin and i'm too cheap to shell out the $$$$ for them, these are the kits I can think of off the top of my head (*means I have it) AMT Subaru Brat* (new AMT please reissue this one) AMT VW Scirroco (and this one AMT) AMT VW Rabbit (and this one AMT) MPC Olds Toronado* (I got a 67 built up, but i'm still looking for other years Aoshima 95-99 Subaru Legacy wagon, with LHD Dash MPC 1/16 1979 Firebird Monogram 1/8 Camaro IROC Z (This is THE holy grail for me right now) MPC Chevette* (got three now) Revell VW Corrado (stock coupe, not the convertible) I know I'm missing some grails but these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head
  10. Show will debut on NBC in the fall, the hosts will be Adam Carolla: I'll give him a chance since he's a car guy (The Clarkson of the group) Tanner Foust: an actual Race car driver. he's the 2007 Formula D Drifting champion, he has Ice racing championships. and he hosts "supercars exposed" on SPEED (The true STIG of the group, though no word on who will be "THE STIG") Eric Stromer: another he's a construction guy. no racing experience. (that I've read of), and he currently hosts a HGTV show. (kind of a mix between May and Hammond) I know this show will not be the UK show (which season 11 starts this Sunday (I'll be watching the Torrent Monday afternoon)), but I'm going to give it a chance. the show has been developed by the creaters of the UK show, and I know Clarkson was stateside for a few weeks developing it. its being produced by the same guys who brought us Mythbusters and Overhaulin. The only questions left are who will be "THE STIG", and what will be the Reasonably priced car (Chevy Cobalt maybe? since the UK show uses a Chevrolet Optra/ Daewoo Lacetti )
  11. look at Fujimi's Ferrari Super America compared to Revell's Ferrari Super America. the Revell kit is lightyears ahead of the Fujimi. the Revell is fully detailed. has the correct wheels (the fujimi kit does'nt). the rear proportions are way more correct then Fujimi's version. as for the Japanese not doing new tools of German cars. Fujimi has a current Golf GTI (just GTI here in the states now. VW dropped the Golf name in North America, and they don't call it the Rabbit GTI) kit out there. so although I highly doubt if Fujimi will do the R8. but it is possible.
  12. The Pens will be back next year. and the year after that. we are just beginning to see the start of the Pens Dynasty
  13. GM used to own a small part of Subaru (about 20% stake). Toyota bought GM's stake in 2004.

  15. GM is rushing the next Cobalt to market. and they've announced a new small car. which I heard could be smaller then the Aveo. they've also been testing a 4cyl Camaro. Pontiac will also get there own version of the old Aveo. called, you guessed it. the Pontiac G3 Fords got the Fiesta coming soon. and it sounds like the Mazda 2 is coming state side. as well as the new 6 speed auto, which gets better fuel ecomony. when I get a new vehicle next year the Mazda 2 will be on my list Chrysler is in the worst shape of all of them. the Dakota's dead. they've got a new Ram coming out in a few months. which unless fuel prices go down drastically will be a dud. they are developing a new small car. but I would'nt be cought dead in it. its being designed by Chery motors, and will be produced in China. mark my words. I will NEVER buy a Chinese produced car. NEVER. no matter how cheap it will be
  16. I own a pickup. which I use occationally as a pickup (moved hedges in it over the weekend). but its used mostly as a round about truck. but Its pretty fuel efficient. a 4cyl Ranger. which gets me an average right now of about 27 MPG. I did look at an F150 when I bought my Ranger. i'm happy I made the decision to get with the Ranger. They might as well start engraving Hummers headstone. there as good as dead. they only sold IIRC 3,000-4,000 vehicles total this year. (including H1, H2, and H3.). the Camry out sold the Silverado last month. and it sounds like the Camry will outsell the F150 this month. so it seems like the days of the full-size pickup as sales giants are almost over. Dodge is going to discountinue the Dakota. and it sounds like the Nissan Titans days are numbered.
  17. I've got a few. Hobby Express in Cranberry. always has the latest kits in stock. and at the cheapest price in the region. They also have a great selection of OOP kits. I don't go as much as I used too though. with gas at $4 a gallon its kinda out of the way for me. this shop seems to do well. considering it in the same shopping complex as a Target. and is less then a mile away from a Wal-Mart Esther's Hobby shop in Millvale. best selection of paint in the area. they are mostly a N scale train store. but they got a small selection of kits. this hobby shop is celebrating its 70th year in operation this year. which is something, since it was heavily damaged by a flood in 2004. Hobby Town USA in Robinson Township. this is the one I frequent the most. since its not out of my way and its on my home from school. good kit supply but there $$$$$. decent paint and supply selection. A.B. Charles and Sons. great old hobby shop, they've been around for 60 years. great selection of kits. there a big RC store. I havent been there in years though. its really out of my way. I used to go once a week becouse I used to work in the area. but they closed the manufactuering plant I worked at and I havent been in the area since.
  18. got a new Fujimi VW GTI kit through Model Express. nice kit,
  19. very true. Earnhardt was doing what ever it took to get Waltrip or Dale Jr. that win. I never blamed Marlin for wrecking Sr. and I never will, it was'nt his fault. it just kinda happened.
  20. Great build. nice too see some older Ferrari's built.
  21. good news. I've never built a 57 Chevy. but I will have to buy a 150 kit. I like building mainstreamers, and this one will scream for me to build it. since there are some people in the know here at Revell. what the heck is going on with the 87 Cutlass and 87 Regal kits. it seems like thes kits are all tooled up (Samples at the ihobby show), but was recently listed as "discountinued". have they been delayed like the 57 Chevy or canceled all together (which I hope not, I want to build an 87 Hurst Cutlass, and a drag car out of the 87 Regal)
  22. very true. my 90 year old grandfather drove a few Mercury's in my lifetime (late 80's Grand Marquis, and a 93 Grand Marquis, both bought new). so Mercury's always had the "old Person Car" label attached to it. Buicks got the same problems (my parents had an 87 Century Wagon they bought new, but that was back when Buick was still "cool" with the Turbo GNS). my mom who is in her mid 50's would'nt be cought dead driving a Mercury or a Buick right now. heck, my parents are new car shopping and they are looking at a VW GTi, and a 2008 Honda Civic Si right now. nothing from the big 3 (Ford, GM, and Toyota, I no longer consider Chrysler part of the big three, or four, or even five)interest them right now. since they want a fuel efficient sports sedan.
  23. I disagree. the muscle car wars are back..... and better then ever. and its not all American company's getting into the muscle car game. its the foreign ones too. sure the cars where cool in the 60's and 70's. they had HUGE horsepower. but they weren't all that good of cars. they didn't do a good job transferring that power to the ground. plus the fact that they couldn't handle. and had terrible brakes. that meant you would go fast in a straight line. but you where screwed once you came to a corner. today's muscle cars can do it all. they may not have 400 horsepower but for $25,000-$35,000 you can have something that will run circles around anything from the 60's. plus they don't need to have big gas guzzling V8's. hell Ford has a twin turbo V6 Mustang coming soon that will be as powerful as the upcoming 5.0 V8, and will get 30mpg. Chevy's got a twin turbo 4cyl Camaro that they are working on. the Subaru Impreza STi has 300 horsepower with AWD, meaning you can drive it year round in even the worst of climates. even Hyundai has a RWD 2door coupe coming out called the Genesis, which will be eventually available with a V8 (4cyl and V6 at launch). even with $4.00 a gallon gas the muscle car wars are here and they are here to stay
  24. Plymouth was just a joke when Chrysler killed it off. at least all the mercury's look different. the only difference between the 2000 Dodge Neon and 2000 Plymouth Neon where the emblems. at least the Voyager and Caravan had different grills. as well as the Breeze and the Stratus. the only good thing at Plymouth at that time was the Prowler. which was the only model saved by Chrysler (for a few years anyway)
  25. IIRC its an old Palmer kit, but its prohibably the nicest kit they've ever produced. I've not built one but i've seen them build and they appear to be somewhat accurate, I've got an original MPC build uip that i'm restoring so I'll pass on this kit
