Michael's Coupon And Reset
gasman replied to crispy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My local Micheal's had already reset. they got the JADA kits now. as well as some of current Revell stuff. and only four AMT kits left (one was on clearance) Target is getting new boxes of Revell Hot Wheels snap kits. picked up a Revell 70 WOF Chevelle today with my employee discount for $9 bucks, they also had the 1/32 Fire Truck and 1963 WOF Corvette Convertible -
What I do is get a very thin sheet of sheet styrene. cut it to the width and shape it like the roof on the Bug. Model Master makes a paint that simulates a viynl top. its a two part system and work great. paint the sheet like that then use glue to secure it. to the roof. In rarely ever give my builds headlines. most of the time I forget them, or don't care about doing them since you can't see them.

How about some Re-Introductions?
gasman replied to Steve H.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My names Terry, age 23, currently single, no kids (I think?), from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Full time college student (Architectural Computer Aided Drafting major). planning on graduating (finally) in July 2009. work part time in a big box store. started building at the tender age of 7, first build was a 1:32 Bronco. built most of the 1:32 snap Hot wheels kits from that era. first 1:25 scale snap was a Revell Snap-tite 1993 Camaro, first glue kit was the Revell 1993 40th anniversary addition Corvette Convertible. which met an untimely death of the roof. I build pretty much anything, little drag racing, no Donks (although I don't dislike them). I build mostly 60-70's mainstreamer versions of Muscle Cars. 80's odd cars, pretty much anything from the 90's, Tuners. NASCAR, Rat Rods, street rods. Super Cars. pickups. imports. some road racing cars. and the occasional big rig. if it catches my fancy I'll build it -
1965 Chevelle Taillight Panel?
gasman replied to gasman's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
thanks for all the input, I think i'm going to go the MCG route with this one -
does any one out there cast and sell a 1965 Non-Z16 SS taillight panel. I'm turning a Revell 65 Chevelle Z16 into a normal SS. I have a 327 and the correct wheel covers. all I need is the tailight panel

I just noticed on the Tower Hobbies website that the Revell 87 Cutlass has been listed as discontinued. but it looked like it was already tooled up from the shots from one of the hobby shows. why would they spend the $$$ to tool something then never release it. I hope that it gets released. its one I was really looking froward too

on another board it was reported that these are on the water and on the way here. any news if that is true.

No More Hobby Heaven?
gasman replied to george 53's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Tom has sent all of his old customers to Model Roundup, I don't think Tom sold the business. he just shut it down. -
at the big bad W store. actually found it in the clearance isle, but it wasn't clearance. funny part is that the Motor Max Pintos which are clearance are still with the normal priced stuff.

picked this die cast up today and I have to say its not bad. its got some of usual diecast issues (big door seems, and heavy plastic), buts its the only time this car has been released in any scale. The interiors a little shallow. but is nicely detailed. exterior wise its not bad. roof racks are way to Cromey, they need to be dulled. The only opened doors are the front driver side and passenger side. the drip rails (if thats what you call them) are a little thick and don't match with the rear doors. and then there's the wood paneling, the real downfall of this die cast. they appear to be water slide decals. but they are not layed down properly. they have bubbles in it at places. and did'nt wrap around the corners tight enough. I tried to use some Micro sol to see if it would help them, but it only cracked them even more. so i'm going to leave them alone. I say this diecast is pretty nice. especially since its only $9.99, and the only, 1979 Chrysler Labaron Town & Country wagon diecast ever produced

What kind of music.....
gasman replied to Hot_Rod_Bob's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I rarely ever listen to music while I build I usually have the TV on. If I do then I usually have either my iPod going or its through iTunes on my computer. and its a mix of alot of stuff. mostly modern country (Tim MaGraw, alot of Rascal Flatts (favorite Band). some 90's alternative rock. (Third Eyed Blind, 3 Doors Down, Matchbox Tewnty) a little bit of modern rock, some Metalica, some rap/rock (Limp Bizkit. Kidd Rock, Linken Park), little Johnny Cash, and a very little bit of early 2000's rap (eminem, Dr Dre, Nelly), none of this newer rap ###### that out there. no 80's 'hair' bands, I hate that stuff, right now i'm listening to Billy Joel, for some unknown reason I'm really into his music right now. -
need to add another recent kit. the AMT Fast and Furious Eclipse. its horrible, flat chassis, engine is just brick of plastic. the turbo that was'nt connected to anything, interior is wrong (but I do give AMT credit for the seperate door window cranks, but thats incorrect for the movie car as it had power windows),

Fast And Furious Tokyo Drift Mustang
gasman replied to Clay's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
yea it has the tuner engine, its a Nissan sr20det, i'm not sure of how well its detailed. or how accurate it is. -
I'm building a rat rod 41 Chevy, and in my search for paint for it I noticed that Tamiya has some really cool colors in there AS line (Airplanes), what kind of finish does this paint leave. I not looking for a true flat. but more of a satin finish

I did work full time for a year in a big box store. but I hated it. so know I'm back in school finishing my degree in architectural computer aided drafting. I still work part time for the big box store. but I'm not getting any hours and I don't think I'll be there much longer

anytime I buy a kit I plan on what i'm going to do to it, and what ever suits me at that moment is what I'll build. most of the time i'll have three projets going on at once. right now I have three completely different projects going. a Tamiya Carrera GT, and MPC 78 Chevette "woody", and a Revell 41 Chevy pickup rat rod

wow is all I have to say, looks spectacular.

Tower Hobbies has it listed as early April, since the toolings already done I would think that it would be released on time, a rarity for Revell
