I'm going on vacation to Florida the next day so I won't have much vendor $$$. another great show is the Olde Potbelly Gang which. which is right off the Turnpike in Stanton PA on November 2nd. alot of the same people who run that one are also in the Three Rivers Auto Modelers.

Revell Shelby GT500 and Shelby GT350H kits
gasman replied to gasman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
here's another idea for the GT-H kit. a 2009 Mustang GT-CS (California Special). it would require some scratchbuilding the engine cover since it has the GT engine appearence package (its an option....but I havent seen one without it) You could also do the Mustang AV8R, but that would require a Supercharger for the engine, and the roof would need to be converted to have the glass roof option I'm hoping Kieth Marks steps up to the plate and offers decals for the difference veriations that can be done with the Revell GT-GT500-and GT-H kits -
when I was younger I got most of my kits at Wal-Mart, Hills (later Ames) and KMart (BTW. all there kits are currently on clearence, I guess there dropping kits again). I also got alot of kits at KB Toys. the one in my local mall (LONG closed), stocked everything. including Tamiya kits. I remember getting a Tamiya 300ZX kit there. I don't remember any local Grocery Stores having kits. There a small family owned hardware store near me that still stocks some kits. but not much. going to the Hobby shop was a rare occurance. and I never really got the full LHS expierience until I got my licence and started driving out to them myself. by the time I was born (September 1984). it was'nt a big thing anymore when new cars came out. alot of the dealers around me are all closed. Brant Oldsmobile closed in the late 80's. There was a Pontiac, Dodge, and an American Motors (who's sign is still there today) dealer right up the road which closed long before I was born (all three buildings are still there. The Pontiac dealers VFW, which will be town down soon to make way for a Wallgreen's, and the Dodge dealer is an Arcade Game store (Pinball and such), and the American motors dealer is a rug store) about 4 miles away there was another Dodge dealer that closed. a Ford dealer that closed in 2006. and another American Motors dealer that closed in the late 80's.

Time Capsule Plymouth
gasman replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Need to bring back an old thread to post that some good progress has been made on the car. here's a vid. They need to replace the chassis from what I understand. its too rusty to support the weight of the heavy Plymouth. they also say they can get the engine running by the end of the year The buried car....1 year later -
looks good Styro. I'm thinking about doing the same conversion. you've given me inspiration. looks good.

Excellent as usual Marc. you know there's a Hot Wheels 69 Coronet that looks just like that.

Revell Shelby GT500 and Shelby GT350H kits

I got the GT-H today. (Hobby shop I rarely go to had them for only $12.99. which i'm guessing was a miss price, but I did'nt say anything ) body is the same as the GT500, different hood, only difference is the stock engine from the GT kit. same interior with incorrect manual transmission. only underhood changes are the strut brace. the cold air intake with seperate filter cone (nice touch Revell). I agree with what Bob said about the wheels. they appear to be the correct size but the tires are too tall. and the car sits too low. a quick trip to the tire parts box should remedy that. decals are nice with very bright gold stripes. and all the correct Hertz logo's. another issue with it is a little one. box lists it as an 06, but the wheels place it as an 07. The 07 Hertz cars got the new wheels, here's the difference, 06 07, which are the wheels that are in the kit I'm not building this as a Hertz GT-H though. mine will be an 08 Shelby GT. 08 is the only year there making these. there pretty much the same car as the GT-H, only these came with a manual transmission, and a different hood. here's the Shelby GT -
Revell Shelby GT500 and Shelby GT350H kits

I drove a Dodge Avenger (The original two door kind) with an auto stick and found it rather boring. The car still pretty much shifts for you There are still a few cars out there that are manual only. My dad just bought an 08 Honda CIvic SI. and the only transmission is the 6sp manual, no auto even available. The Mustang GT500 is also available only with a 6speed manual. -
Revell delays more street dates

The new 70 1/25 scale kit is lightyears ahead of the 80's vintage 70 1/24 scale kit. If they can fix the slab sidedness of the die cast kit then the new Revell 1/25 70 Challenger will be by far the best Challenger kit out there. -
Revell delays more street dates

I just noticed that too. I thought the late August release date for the 09 Challenger was a bit early for typical Revell time frames. January seems a bit more suitable for Revell. just as long as the kit is out before the 2010 Challengers (if Chrysler is still around then) are in 1:1 showrooms I'm guessing Revell needed to do more work to the 1970 Challenger tool before it got released. hopefully fix the "slab sided" appearance that kit has. -

very true. I've just started my search for a new car, and one of my must is a manual transmission. I've never owned an auto in my short life (I've had 3 cars...all sticks). and I don't plan on switching to auto's until I physically can't drive them anymore. I looked at a G5 a few weeks ago and they only had 2 manual cars on the lot. neither I liked (one white one silver, too plain looking for me), the GT's they had on the lot where auto's. I wouldn't even consider an auto right now. -
I need some help identifying this truck, and finding out if there is anything close in scale (Plastic or Resin). this picture is from the late 50's early 60's in downtown Pittsburgh, in the Strip District to be exact. The truck you see is adding ice to the box cars which cooled food. This was my Grandfather's business. and this was one of there trucks. My moms been asking me for years to build a replica of one. but she just found a good picture of it. I know this project will require ALOT of scratchbuilding but its a very important project to me. Here's the best picture of the truck I have This is the whole picture. This is Smallman street in the strip district in Pittsburgh. most of the buildings you see in this picture are still there. The Strip District was big wth wholesalers back then and it still is today, except they aren't using trains that much anymore (all the tracks in this picture are long gone), My Grandfather passed in the mid 70's, long before I was born so I never met him. but this is a keepsake I want to build for my mom so she has something to remember him by. also if anyone has any good reference pictures of similer trucks that would be much appreciated.

I'm building mine as a stripe delete car so I was only worried about the other bits. I can't comment on the stripes. but they are available in other colors then blue or white. they come in black and two shades of gray as well -

I got the GT500 today, no pics but it is a good bit different then the 06 GT kit. the body's different. the front fascia is seperate. and the rear bumper is different (but still attached to the body). there's a new hood, The engine is completely different. it shares nothing with the 06 kit. The chasiss and interior other then seats are the same. the decal sheet is excellent. both blue and white stripes. guage decals. decals for under the hood. it is excellent. my only gripe is that the wheels may be a tad small. they are the same size as the 06 GT wheels, all in all its an excellent kit. and its nice too Revell is giving us different versions of this body style Mustang since they shafted us with the 99-04 body style -
video games are $40-$60 a game, not including the system, so there still alot cheaper then them From what i've read there only making 45,000 mustangs in 09. compared to close to 100,000 this year. the 2010's should be out around June-July

I didn't even notice the Fairlane. thats great news if it will be stock. those 1:32 scale snaps look nice too. the slot car guys will like them. I'm guessing all the 1:32 reissues have been good sellers. they still have the snap 69 Camaro as coming out in August no news about the 87 Cutlass and 87 Regal. I'm still hoping they eventually get done. but i'm not going to hold my breath.

there are some new Revell kits they just announced. most we already knew of snap Hummer H2 (i'm guessing that this is based off the glue kit) snap Mustang GT500 2008 Mustang Gt500 KR (we already knew this one) 2008 Mustang Bullitt ( iwas going to make one of these out of the 06 Mustang kit....guess i'm not now) 1968 Mustang from the movie Bullitt 1957 Chevy 150 (we already knew this one) 2007 Charger Super Bee (off the uptown tooling?)

that was GREAT stuff. the racing was good. the tires did great, they didn't seem to wear at all. it just was raining way too hard at the end of the race for them too continue. some of the team where not prepared to do this at all. some weren't running wipers or even taillights. like the 60 of Carl Edwards who did'nt even have them, he tried the swiffer thing but that didn't seem to work, you better believe all the cars will have wipers and taillights at the Glen next week. in both Cup and Nationwide. and some sort of defroster system for inside the cars I think this was a huge success for NASCAR and I would hope they wouldn't hesitate to use them at road courses in the future. I have to build Ron Fellows winning car now, complete with PE wipers

correction the Revell SSR has an LS1. the LS2 came out in 2005, and the Revell kits an 04. The AMT Concept Camaro should have an LS2.....but that engine sucks, and should'nt even be considered. IIRC the V8 in the Revell 99 Silverado is an LS1. (but don't quote me on that) The only good LS2 that has been tooled up is in the Revell C6 Corvette kits.

Revell Shelby GT500 and Shelby GT350H kits
gasman replied to gasman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
whats interesting is that the Revell AG version is still shown as the regular GT500 (there a boxart pic on EBAY), but the Revell US Version is clearly a KR from the test shots seen online and in magazines. I wonder if there two different kits. meaning the Revell AG one is the regular GT500 and the Revell US one is the KR BTW AMT's Challenger looks great. the wheels may be a tad too small but other then that it looks good. -
Your favourite Box art

The AMT "Back to the Future" Deolorean kit has great box art. I'm biased since its one of my favorite movies but I think its looks great. -

both the GT500 and the GT350H are listed as in stock over at Tower Hobbies, so I guess that means that they are out
