  1. whats interesting is that the Revell AG version is still shown as the regular GT500 (there a boxart pic on EBAY), but the Revell US Version is clearly a KR from the test shots seen online and in magazines. I wonder if there two different kits. meaning the Revell AG one is the regular GT500 and the Revell US one is the KR BTW AMT's Challenger looks great. the wheels may be a tad too small but other then that it looks good.
  2. The AMT "Back to the Future" Deolorean kit has great box art. I'm biased since its one of my favorite movies but I think its looks great.
  3. The Polar Lights GTO has a LS1 IIRC. but its a little soft on the details. The Revell 98 Firebird has an LS1 The Revell 02 Camaro has an LS1 The Revell Chevy SSR has an LS2
  4. both the GT500 and the GT350H are listed as in stock over at Tower Hobbies, so I guess that means that they are out
  5. i'll be 24 in September. I was brought home in either a red 1981 Ford Fairmont wagon. or a brown 1983 Buick Regal. my parents can't remember which one.
  6. I just picked up on of these kits since I'm kinda in a light commercial mood. what year is this van supposed to represent?
  7. I can't help you with the Hobby Shop (I know a great one in Ventura. but I don't think you want to travel that far north), but be sure to visit the Peterson Automotive Museum while you are there, its a great place. Be sure the drive through the museums parking garage too. they store some cool stuff in there too
  8. all the LHS around me have them, they all want $60 bucks for it. I would think Fujimi or Aoshima would everntually release a LHD version (they usually do). so i'm gonna wait for there versions, and pass on the Tamiya
  9. They announced the the "reasonably priced car". its a Kia Rio. and the first two guests will be Howie Mandel, and Melanie B (from the Spice Girls), both have shows with NBC affiliation. I think they could've done a little better with the stars they choose even from the NBC range of shows. like Steve Carrell or Jason Lee
  10. anyone know the street date for these kits, Tower Hobbies list them as late July...which it is.
  11. all you want to do is clean some promo's. and the next thing you know there completely apart. this happened last night to a rare AMT 98 Olds Intrique, Brookfield 95 Monte Carlo, and AMT 91 Geo Storm. all I wanted to do was clean them, but then I decided they needed a little more detail. next thing you know there all completely apart. and I'm planning new projects for them
  12. looks like Mercury will live after all. and there getting new product.....sorta Mercury to become Fords Saturn I would think Ford would kill Mercury's entire current lineup if this happens. the Mondeo would replace the Milan. The Kuga would replace the Mariner. and I would think we would get the S-MAX and maybe the Ka. Ford US is already getting the Fiesta (Finally), the Euro Focus (Finally) the Transit Connect and possible the Euro Ranger
  13. I wonder what would count as a fuel efficient vehicle. like if my 28 MPG Ford Ranger pickup be allowed to park there.
  14. since kits cost more then 5 years ago (I remember paying $10.99 for the Revell 66 Chevelle wagon when they came out), the cheap hobby store in my area wants $18.99 for the Revell Nova. people will nit pick about kits more and more. one thing about us car modelers is that we are cheap . I do think the wheel wells are a bit more squared off then should be, its something I noticed when I first got the kit. but its a very small problem. I'm not going to even worry about correcting it. its not that big of a deal. majority of people who build this kit won't even notice since the 1:1 seem to have a bit of a squareness to them.
  15. I got my kits today, and I'm going out on a limb and saying this is the best muscle car kit in 1:25 scale ever produced. starting with the decal sheet, which could easily be confused with an after market one. two decals for the gauges (one stock on custom), all the correct decals for the emblems. some nice Drag car decals. and Hoosier Tire decals for the drag tires. two sets of wheels, (Chevy Rallye and Center Line drag wheels). two hoods, the kit manufactures have finally realized what the after market has been doing for years. they included a nice cowl hood in the kit, as well as the SS hood. dual carb setup option for the kits 350. full detail interior with separate center console. and bucket seats. the rear seat can be omitted for the drag car. full detail chassis with a nice set of optional traction bars. the is a great kit, and I can't wait too see what the after market does with it.
  16. do the 4dr cars and 2dr share the same wheelbase?. I have two Revell Nova's on there way to me, and I know i'm going to turn one into a 1970 Yenko Duece. i'm not sure what i'm going to do with the other one. but a plain jane, old lady driven 1969 4dr Nova with a straight six might be the way I want to go.
  17. The wheel size on the KR look correct. but the tires seem to be too tall. (too much sidewall). I applaud Revell for deciding to do the KR instead of the regular GT500. I just hope Revell gives us all the correct detail under the hood. The Hertz wheels appear to be one size too small. but I can deal with that. I'm planning on steeling the wheels out of that kit, put them on an 06 kit and build an 09 Mustang GT (debating on doing the glass roof option)
  18. looks awesome. great build
  19. I just showed the Tesla as an example that we are not seeing the end of fast fun to drive cars. but it will be a while before we see this kind of performance for under $25,000 with tha kind of efficiency. Hyrbids do have a problem right now though. there not all that efficient on the highway. at 60 + MPH. your better of with a Cobalt or a gas only Civic then a Prius. on the last episode of Top Gear. they had a Prius going around the Top Gear test track at full speed. (as fast as it would go), and it was followed by a BMW M3. going just as fast the Prius. they where thrashing the Prius and they only got 17 MPG (Yes you read that right.), and the BMW got 19 MPG. They also mentioned the polution nightmare that are the Prius's battery's. I've owned three vehicles in my life (1995 Geo Prizm, 2001 Hyundai Accent (i'm missing the 40 MPG of that one right now), and a 2001 Ford Ranger. all have been 4cyl. and I don't see myself owning anything but a 4cyl for many years to come. with the current gas prices. I'm currently looking at a Cobalt SS to replace my Ranger.
  20. electric cars doesn't mean it won't be fast. I think I need to show you the Tesla, 0-60 in 4 seconds. 250 miles on a charge. they say the batteries will last 10 years, or 100,000 miiles, its not cheap tho. starts at $90,000 The Camaro is still coming, but GM is debating putting an optional turbo 4cyl in it. which will get 30 MPG's and 250 horsepower. (according to what I've read), at launch early next year the car will have only a V6 and V8 option. Ford also looking into putting there ecoboost turbo 4cyl in the Mustang. and modern cars are still as easy to work on as cars made 40 years ago. look at the people my age (i'm 23) with there modified VW GTI's, and Subaru WRX who do most the work themselves. I do majority of the maintenance work on my 01 4cyl Ranger and I've never encountered and major difficulties with it. new cars are still not hard to work on. you just need to do some research before you do it.
  21. RIP SCOTT  that was a horrible crash, surprised ESPN showed, it looked like he car never slowed down and his car catapulted when he hit the sand then it hit a camera boom, (I hope to camera man on that boom it ok, I'm assuming he is since they haven't said anything about it)
  22. no not really, but I have been buying alot online recently.
  23. most of the grails I want are resin and i'm too cheap to shell out the $$$$ for them, these are the kits I can think of off the top of my head (*means I have it) AMT Subaru Brat* (new AMT please reissue this one) AMT VW Scirroco (and this one AMT) AMT VW Rabbit (and this one AMT) MPC Olds Toronado* (I got a 67 built up, but i'm still looking for other years Aoshima 95-99 Subaru Legacy wagon, with LHD Dash MPC 1/16 1979 Firebird Monogram 1/8 Camaro IROC Z (This is THE holy grail for me right now) MPC Chevette* (got three now) Revell VW Corrado (stock coupe, not the convertible) I know I'm missing some grails but these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head
  24. Show will debut on NBC in the fall, the hosts will be Adam Carolla: I'll give him a chance since he's a car guy (The Clarkson of the group) Tanner Foust: an actual Race car driver. he's the 2007 Formula D Drifting champion, he has Ice racing championships. and he hosts "supercars exposed" on SPEED (The true STIG of the group, though no word on who will be "THE STIG") Eric Stromer: another he's a construction guy. no racing experience. (that I've read of), and he currently hosts a HGTV show. (kind of a mix between May and Hammond) I know this show will not be the UK show (which season 11 starts this Sunday (I'll be watching the Torrent Monday afternoon)), but I'm going to give it a chance. the show has been developed by the creaters of the UK show, and I know Clarkson was stateside for a few weeks developing it. its being produced by the same guys who brought us Mythbusters and Overhaulin. The only questions left are who will be "THE STIG", and what will be the Reasonably priced car (Chevy Cobalt maybe? since the UK show uses a Chevrolet Optra/ Daewoo Lacetti )
