Grand Prix Engine Question
Bills72sj replied to Perspect Scale Modelworks's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Steve is correct on his input. I have own 7 1:1 Grand Prixs from 70-72. My 70 was a low option car that did not come from the factory with A/C but this is rare. Of the 400's and 455's I have had, the 400's has single snorkel air cleaners and the 455's had twin snorkel air cleaners. The power steering pump is low on the drivers side. The alternator is high on the drivers side. The A/C compressor is medium high on the passenger side. The kit's fan shroud and hood latch area is WAY wrong. -
Very nice. I would love to have it in my display case.

Thank you for sharing the link. There were a lot of very nice builds presented.

My 1st show in 3 years too. It was good to see you there Sam. I came away with a lot more models for the money. I bought 2 for $17 for the pair. $40 worth of raffle tickets netted me 12 more kits before I gave the rest of the tickets away to a couple of kids. I felt bad, but I out bid you on one of the lots. The 66 Chevelle wagon was so sweet I could not pass it up. He was a really prolific builder. In the show, I managed to get ribbons on 4 of the 10 entries I brought. I am still kicking myself for forgetting to bring my phone for pics.

Kit Preferences
Bills72sj replied to Horrorshow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Subject matter, Subject matter Subject matter. As long as the body is one piece. If the chassis is too simple, I will kitbash something in its place. I rarely build stock anyway. Diehard streetmachine fan here. -
Grand Prix Engine Question

Good luck with your GP. I made a replica of one I had for a work beater without all the rust the 1:1 had. -

Not my cup of tea, but your high quality workmanship is quite admirable. -
Thanks for the education.

Just a thought. For those of you who have robbed the rear chassis from a 67 Chevelle Pro Street, Would the remaining 67's front suspension/front clip be suitable to kit bash into the 66?

Very nice build. Did you apply a black wash on the rims? They look really good.

Very nice Charger. I like the engine detail.

Everyone has already used all the adjectives I would like to have used. Job well done.

My son put it on my PC and I never see pop ups EVER.

Well done

Well that is good to hear! Both of my parents are in their early 80's. I have had grandparents live deep into their 90's on both sides of the family. I am not so sure I (or my money) will make it that far.

I have had good luck sticking in a stainless steel hat pin in the top the capping that. It does thicken as it runs low but I just buy a new one. The other option is to build more kits faster.

I am a fan too. Great work.

AMT 1/25 Scale 1969 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 Navy Metallic.

Pretty impressive Olds collection. Your paint finish is quite impressive. If I may suggest, on future builds, remove the locator pins from the tail lights. -
Wow! With those bumper guards, one would think the driver could rough up his fellow competitors.

Nice Monte. Great work on the dash. I built a body in yellow for a slot car once for a friend. I built a copper one with a white interior because my dad had a 1:1 when I was teenager.

Very nice build. My 1st attempt belongs in the purple pond.
