  1. Just found this thread. Very interesting modifications and details. I sympathize with you on how changing things on the chassis plate affects the interior to body interface. I have a number of hours sorting out things like that on two builds in progress. (1970 El Camino Pro Street and a 1974 Hurst olds with chassis parts from a 66 GTO and a 67 Chevelle)
  2. Very impressive mods and details. I love the body extension and the Susie coil box on the deck. I am also a big fan of the rectangular headlights. I did a couple of Freightliners a couple of years ago but not to the detail level you have. How finicky were the PE steps to assemble?
  3. I agree with Steve. My hobby TIME is short so it is valuable. If you figure what your time is worth per hour vs. how many hours you will have invested just to get it paintable. You will need to determine cost vs. time vs. desired results.
  4. Brian, Thank you, the bed was an easy change an looks/works SO much better. You may certainly use the idea on yours. Jay, Thank you. ? Mark, Thank you as well. ?
  5. That turned out AWESOME in MANY MANY WAYS!
  6. Testors Red is old school squeeze tube glue. While it does not set quickly, it does make a strong bond. Yes, window maker is the equivalent of canopy cement.
  7. I too like the Fireball decals. They look great. Here are some on my '69 Boss 429.
  8. Mine is actually done. (See link in post above). I do not remember any issues with the tail panel. I use Testors red to make it stay in. Then I use Testors window make to wick into fill all the gaps. After that its paint time. The frames on the tail lights have enough ridge to use a 1mm Molotow pen. You could use a 2mm if you are really steady. The ridges are two narrow to use BMF or a paint brush. I was pretty happy how mine turned out. My next one will get a special panel that has 6 taillights per side.
  9. I would think a spare or leftover hard drive or thumbdrive would be bit more reliable that some unknown entities server. Especially since said hard drive won't raise its prices or have rules to violate. Unless of course you need 24/7 internet access to the pics.
  10. Now that my Ford Race Car Hauler is finally done, time to get back on this. I need to know how much room I have available for my Olds 455 with '70 Monte Carlo air conditioning installed. So, I gently stuffed my GTO/Chevelle Frankenstein chassis into the body. I took some finesse as the chassis is oversized for the opening in the body. Now that it is in, it is not in my best interest to ever take it out again. However, I just about painted myself into a corner so to speak. Adding a '70 Monte Carlo firewall to a '67 Chevelle chassis with a '75 Cutlass body wearing a '62 Catalina cowl AFTER the chassis is in makes for some fitment issues. I managed to trim the '67 Chevelle firewall/footwell enough to drop in and align with the floor. Fortunately it sits back far enough from the front edge of the cowl to permit adding the '70 Monte firewall in front of it. Once that is glued in, I will work on mating the BBC front pulley system to and Olds engine and tranny. Pic 1 parts for the engine bay. Pic 2 Foot forward footwell/firewall installed. Pic 3 Monte Firewall installed.
  11. Thank you Jeff, all the masking stalled this project a couple of times. I did learn how to do curves with Parafilm and what NOT to do when layering additional colors.
  12. It seems I never put a link to the "Under Glass" for this finished project. So, here it is.
  13. Dan, Here are links of the Mustang WIP and Under Glass. It started out as a bad paint green paint job and progressed into a mini-tub and shoehorning a big motor in a small space.
  14. OK. But I actually did not take pics today. He is one from a previous car show and my latest amp rack installation that I was showing.
  15. Thank you Don, I was trying to make it a bit more realistic/practical.
  16. That turned out SWEEET!
  17. Took my Grand Prix to a second car show this Summer. Haven't been to one in 3 years (Covid). It was a beautiful day, I got to sit under a tree so as not to get sunburnt. Spent all day sharing the killer stereo via iPad and bluetooth. I let a number of 20-30 year olds sit in the car with it cranked. Everyone of them were impressed. Feels good to get out and have some Summer fun again.
  18. After a year and a half, my BRBO 2021 AMT Ford Race Car Hauler is finally done. A few mods happened along the way. I added a 36" sleeper (racers and crew need naps), created an observation deck to watch the action and removed the horrible wheel trenches on the deck. The paint mask of the stripes was the hardest part. Our hobby supplier's sponsorship decals were made on my printer. This was an up and down learning experience for me. Let me know what you think, good or bad.
  19. When I heard the rumor that it was getting scarce, I bought one for back up. My Original formula Future is a bit thick than the newer Pledge. Probably due to advance age. If I am out running errands I will be on the lookout for you. Note: Home Depot has at least a dozen similar products on their website. No idea if they are anywhere near the same formula.
  20. Thanks for sharing. I wish there was a cruise around here to take my car to.
  21. Well I am impressed. I looked at all those little white rectangles and ran the other way. 3 paint jobs later, my stripes are painted on.
  22. These videos may help you see what is out there. He is a bit long winded at times, but you can actually see the techniques and results.
