Thanks Dennis! I appreciate the compliment and your input on color choice for wires. I never really thought about grey. I kinda like it! Boot color? Thanks again.

Thought I would dig this out and build it by dolling it up with stuff I had lying around in the kit stash and parts boxes. First off, this is one of the not so good kits I’ve built! Lots of flash and miss match on mating parts. I cut off the molded on fenders, not a fan of those and dropped the body over the frame. I was going to use the kit engine but the halves were so mismatched I just tossed it! I ended up going with a sbc from a 64 Impala. Wheels are from a 48 Ford. Smaller front tires came from the parts box. Kits like this give you a real challenge, and that’s the fun part! Color is Camouflage from Krylon! Who’d a thunk! Topped with Duplicolor clear. Interior will be Ivory. I do need your opinion. With the motor the color as it is, what color spark plug wires do I use? Black seems plain, yellow maybe? Just going with a single carb and air cleaner. Coments always welcome, positive or negative.

I am a machinist by trade and build prototypes for a living. You sir are a master craftsmen! Fantastic work my friend! -
Thanks Andy! I appreciate it. Just finishing up on removing the molded in rocker trim, then add the drip rail, and finally into paint hopefully soon!

Lol! Nope, been doing this a long time and love it! I credit the people on forums like this that you can learn these techniques from. That and just coming up with an idea and saying “let’er rip!” Thank you very much for the compliments. Much appreciated.

Hey guys. Does anyone have any recommendations for companies making a modern injection intake like the ones pictured. 1/25 scale, Ford or Chevy small blocks. I’ve seen some on EBay but or big blocks. Not sure if there is anyone making such a thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Great info guys! I was just wondering about this very topic. I have to install drip rails on my 66 Malibu build.
-
Thank you! A long process but I think it’s worth it. Now to remove the rocker trim and put on the drip rail. Just got the stock stock steel rims and hubcaps from Fireball Resin. Their stuff is fantastic!

Thank you! I look forward to it!

Very nice work on your mods! I really like the chassis idea. Definitely going to keep that in mind. Question for you, what tools are you using to make your cuts?
-
Well finally got back to working on this build. I figured out a way to scratch build the window frames. I cut and fitted an piece of styrene over the whole window area. Then cut out the majority of the center and painstakingly filed the frame to the desired thickness. Long process but worth it in my opinion. Got a little work done on that straight six too.

Very new guy here. I’ve always followed these but never entered into one until now if you’ll have me! Great idea to build a purpose built race car while stripping the purpose out of it! Definitely makes you think on how to make it look as stock and streetable as possible. This would be a perfect idea for a Mercedes C Class road racer that’s been on my shelf for a long time.

Been in the hobby a long time. This is one of the most realistic builds I’ve seen. The detail is outstanding! The bent rusty pipes, dusty, dirty engine bay. People always say it’s the little details that make the build. I love the thought of the chipped white paint on the tailgate letters! Outstanding! -
No, just a reference pic for my 66 4D build I’m working on. I wish though!
