53 Ford
BIGTRUCK replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
With the light body work done and final sanding completed I was able to get both colors on the '53 . Now to get the interior door panels done. -
My biggest trade to date was with Ford f-100, thanks Phil for a very smooth transaction ..well packed.
-
I have not built one of these since the 60s , so now here I am adding 1962 corvette skirts into the mix. Moved the front and rear spring shackles to lower the ride height without creating more work than I want to do.

I found a way to get the clubs out without breaking anything. Ran a small screwdriver into the bag to spread the slot that holds them in by the oversized grips. Now to detail up the golf cart.
-
Not a bad kit , but not a good kit. 2 pc tires were just plain nasty, wheels interior parts (seats, shifter ,steering wheel) and most of the engine were discarded and parts box items added. All chassis chrome removed.
-
Just about done with the body and interior and starting on getting engine/ drivetrain done. Thinking about going back and doing the hood, maybe without the sides, just the top.
-
Another trade with bismarck that went perfectly, thanks Kevin.
-
Looks really good, only thing different on the carts seem to be the wheels. Did you paint the clubs or bags?
-
They come out part way one at a time but thats the best I got.
-
Im sure it is, the chrome trees are also pretty much the same. I broke a spindle and found the exact one in the parts box molded in a gold color.
-
I was going along on this build and getting things done pretty good ,and then I discovered this resin body in a box of rod items.
-
Good trader shout out to bismarck again, fine trade Kevin.
-
Good trader shout out to Oldcarfan27, thank you.

I bought it new at a flea market for $3.00 . The golf cart does not have any info on it. It was in a display box with blue, red and other white ones , the only thing I noticed was 1:20 scale, but to me it looked closer to 1:24 . Heres a pic of it next to an old Ford promo. I googled it and it came out made by "Dovewill".

Those golfers look pretty good.
-
Thank you, that fotki album was suppose to help me keep from getting doubles of kits but that idea went out the window quick?
-
I got this metal and plastic golf cart new for a few bucks , I got it because it looked 1:24 or 1:25 to me, the display box said 1:20 but I put a figure, the same size figure I used on my Beverly Hillbillies build and it looks like its a fit. Detail the figure and clubs toss it on a small dio base.

This is one of those kits that keeps getting moved around so I figured lets stop moving it and just build it. First I soaked all the chrome trees to get rid of the chrome. Revell loves to chrome the chassis parts. The kit did not have a firewall so cobbled up a simple one. I'm not going to use the spoke wheels it came with or the hood/sides , and these 2 pc vinyl/plastic tires are terrible, I tried Tamiya liquid glue, 2 part epoxy and Cyanoacrylate maxi cure (its like a thick super aglue) but they still fall apart, I will be finding some big and littles from the parts box. Even though it will have this more modern engine, trans and suspension the colors inside and out will have old look paint.
