Enjoy your 6 weeks out of country. I have a feeling you might be going to France, but that's just a pure guess on my part. That would definitely be an awesome trip. Enjoy it no matter where you end up. -
Pierre, I noticed on your Alfa Romeo you had to use a rattle can for the primer because of the resin stuff. Sometimes us brush guys are forced to go back to the dark side to get stuff done but only if we have to. I haven't had a chance to polish the Vallejo gloss varnish but I'm thinking it's going to work out well. It's the smoothest clear I have used yet with a brush and almost tempted not to polish it at all. Just hit it with future/quickshine after decaling and call it a day on the body. We shall see.

Pierre, that body looks perfect, and the chassis does too. Looks like you are about to wrap this one up. Excellent work going on here. -
Needs more sanding and adjusting of the half circle slots, then will prime and paint and try to get smooth enough to get some Revell chrom spray to put on them. If not, I will have to get out the old airbrush and shoot them with AlcladII. I did the wheels on this Chevelle back in the day with AlcladII. I don't think you can brush AlcladII on with much success.

Wow is all I have to say. If you're trying to capture the color in the video, I believe you are right there. Smooth as can be and not a fault that I can discern from the picture above if that is picture 13. -
The wheels on this car are 5 slot wheels but they are not what you normally see in slot wheels. the slots are shaped into half circles. I got some ppp 74 slots and will be changing the slots into half circles. Won't be perfect but will be closer than normal slot wheels.

Finally got to watch the video. The sound of that baby going through the gears could only come from a Ferrari. It's like music to my ears. If anybody who has seen this link and not checked it out do yourself a favor but turn down the sound so you don't wake up anybody like I did. And get in big trouble for it. -
Does not look much different than the last photos but this is the last coat of clear I will apply. I will now wait a couple of days to make sure the clear is good and dry for polishing. I just want to knock the small bits you get in the paint down a little before I decal it and put the final future coat to seal the decals.

To me the middle right photo looks like the most clear and accurate photo you have, and you got really close to that photo with your color match, so I think you are there. I'm amazed how you got that metallic paint so homogeneous with a brush and there are positively no brush marks in that baby. Awesome job again. Looks like you got the wheels correct too. -
Pierre, I will probably just wait a couple of days and hit it with novus 2 polish and see what I get. I don't want to polish through the clear to paint for sure. The novus is more forgiving than sandpaper or polishing pads.
-
Using Vallejo gloss varnish as my clear this time. I really liked the way it went on and flowed out sort of like the way future does. I thinned it 100% with distilled water. no brush strokes and it should give a harder finish for polishing.

Pierre, disregard the private message. I found it by myself. This is going to be off the charts if the engine work has anything to say about it. -
I think so too, Jason. Looking forward to more on this thread and final completion is always great when you are the builder. Keep on keeping on.

Excellent job. too bad Salvino's doesn't give us modern truck kits like they did with the nextgen models. They are coming out with all this other stuff which is great, but I would love to do a 2024 Nascar truck.
-
just a light sanding with 6000 grit pad, Then I will brush on some clear to polish out with some Novus polish. Then I can finally move on to the chassis. Nothing accurate here because of the lack of ref pictures. But should still be an interesting shelfer.
-
Thanks Donato. I'm having more trouble with the headlight covers and rear spoiler but hopefully they will work out Okay. I'm itching to get started on the chassis.

You've done it again, Yoshimi. Another excellent build from your bench. I've been wanting to do this year Fairlane but can't decide on the driver. Never done a Hutcherson build so maybe I'll go that route.

Wow, Billy. I do believe that is the best Coo Coo build I have ever laid eyes on. Great in all categories. Cleanliness of build, Paint work, decal work, attention to detail, and just getting it right. Thanks for posting such a wonderful model for us to view. Looking forward to your next one.
-
Thanks, Billy for dropping by and weighing in on the build. Appreciate it very much.

I've never tried it D.W. but it sounds like it might be a good idea if you could get a nice thin layer of paint on the glass. And then apply the tire just right. I guess the only way to know is trial and error it and if it messes up, remove the paint quickly from the tire and use old methods.
-
The suspense is killing me, Billy. Go ahead and put this build together and post the finished shots. I'm sure it's going to be fabulous.

Bob pretty much covered it. The only thing I would add is to put a coat of dull coat lacquer on the tires after you do the letters to seal the lettering to the tires and make the tires look more real. Hobby Lobby sells it.
