  1. Ordered the Stynylrez from spraygunner.com about 30 min ago. Looking forward to using it. Thanks Dave.
  2. Well thats tragic, and it seems you're handling it as well as can be expected, God Bless.
  3. Great looking '64 Rusty, bring on some-more!
  4. Very cool looking Dave, that type of car really never interested me but your quality workmanship does it for me. Very nice?
  5. Looking coo Stephenl, man that's some meaty rear tires!!
  6. So the primer doesn't show any scratches after using the steel wool? I'll be using my new Proton 275 airbrush, .3 tip.
  7. So sorry about your wife Dave, thats very sad. My wife now of 45 years (been together 47) loves me to model, even picked out a model for me to build yesterday (the Drag 91 Mustang) at HL. Keeps me occupied while she cross-stiches. Good post , my 2 space heaters get the temp up to around 60 in my garage when the starting temp is around 45 degrees.
  8. Thanks Dave, I'm gonna get some ordered and give it a try. Good idea on the black and white.Your use of the word "fuzzy" is a great description of what I call grainy.
  9. I try to heat up my garage to around at least 55 degrees to paint. At my age, anything colder than that is to cold anyway for my old bones??
  10. Went to my local Hobby Lobby today to hopefully get some MM Metalizer paint with 40% coupon until no longer available (the coupon that is). Of course they had none. While looking my Wife said "Buy a model". Really don't need another kit to build but I showed her 3 I was interested in and I told her I really don't see any reason to buy one. Next thing I know she hands me the Drag Mustang. So, what the heck, stack up another one LOL.
  11. OK now Dave, so like the Badger Stynylrez primer and with good results, right?? I see it comes in several colors and sizes. Looks like around $4.20 (spraygunner.com) for 2 oz, $10.00 for 4 oz.
  12. Well I didn't expect this tread would become a pissing match. I looked at a bunch of assemblyline photos particularly Corvette and as far back as a '55 as this what this thread started as and the frames and most suspensions are coated with something, and mostly black in color.
  13. Got it Fred. Some other pictures I looked at of the floor pans they don't look wihite, I guess you could say more of a dirty white. Those floor pans in the picture look almost too perfect.
  14. So, are you referring to Corvette or all GM cars?? The frames weren't painted at all??
  15. It was primed with Krylon and seemed smooth enough, but I did lightly wet sand it with 3000. I'm wondering if I need to airbrush primer instead of rattle can, but what would be a good primer if airbrushed?? Incidently, I sprayed the dashboard not primed, probably not best thing to do, but the paint dried perfectly smooth, actually it looked like unpainted black styrene ? Like I have said, I'm a WIP?
  16. I used Createx 4012 thinner and a few drops 4030 Balancing clear. about a 50/50 mix. It seemed to be about skim milk consistance but maybe slightly thicker. Did the same with the Folkart.
  17. Mr. Lin, I just watched your video of this build. Man, your patience level is 100 times higher than mine. Just how long did it take you to build this beauty??
  18. Wow Lin, thats just gorgeous!!!!?
  19. FINALLY ........The outside temperature got to 55 degrees outside and with 2 small heaters I got the garage temp to 64 degrees and I got to use my new Proton 275 trigger airbrush. Wow, this airbrush definately outperforms the Paasche H and Badger airbrushes, at least as far as my experience goes. Mixed up the craft paint, about 25 psi and it sprayed great. I never could get a decent paint flow with the other brushes and I immediately got great coverage with the 275. The result was excellent but I'm sure it can be better. By the way, no clear yet on the body, hence the satin finish.
  20. I'm on board with this one and any S/S Dyno Don car.
  21. Since you mentioned Deco Art and alcohol Dave, I airbrushed Deco Art black enamel on a body today and didn't like some roughness after dryout with hair dryier. I had FolkArt black enamel and resprayed it and the Folk Art was smoother.
  22. I'm not one to do major mods for fear of ruining stuff.
  23. I just use the Chevy engine red on all chevy engines and to me it kinda looks orangy (?is that even a word?)
  24. Makes sense David about the undercoating. Sound deadening also but the frame is metal and they are prone to rusting out. Good advise on the paint colors.
  25. You always have good suggestions Dave. I'm not really expecting them to have the MM. I like the craft idea as I've kinda gravitated to them.
