  1. Looks really nice Rusty, which Nomad kit is that?
  2. Looking good TJ, one day I'll start minebut not until I see the in progress posts of the build.
  3. Keep up the good work Craig, looking great. You mentioned "love hate relationship" with the Stynylrez primer. I just got some at the recommendation of DaveG and hopefully using his thinning method I will get good results (if the cold wet weather ever decides to depart). Up to now I have used rattlecan Krylon as a primer but with my new airbrush I decided to to the airbrushing the primer route.
  4. Looking great Luke, thoI'm not a low-rider fan, your build quality is excellent. Really like the engine!?
  5. Wow Steve, thats a lot of stripes on those seats. After reading this, I guess it's time to get the Tamiya.
  6. As far as I know, Sterling (who lives near me) will be driving at the Nashville short track as he has for years. He was my Daughters favorite driver and we met him and talked to him many times. He also got my Daughter, Wife and myself pit access to a Talladega race. Just a super nice person.
  7. Well Robert, you certainly got a good start on it for just 4 days work. Keep up the good work!!
  8. Very nice Mr. Beamerman. Looks great?
  9. The roof on that Monogram 55 looks like its chopped.
  10. Great build of my favorite Chevelle (I guess it shoud be, it was my first new car). I hate the bumper guards also and on my future replica build will have to remove them too. Just don't know how to refinish them after stripping the chrome. I have yet to see a painted chrome that looks realistic enough to me.
  11. Wow, nice stuff there. That "previous build" looks great. Looking forward to the new completed one.
  12. Very very nice Andy, but of course it IS a Corvette. Well done?
  13. Great build Ken, cute car?
  14. Thanks Scott, I have never done anything larger than 1/24. Just my opinion of course, to me the bigger kits require a higher skill level of detailing when it comes to accurate finishes. As for my "works" I'm no where near a lot of folks on here. I always say, I'm still a WIP?
  15. Yep, probably the pictures, and yeah the Nomad would be cool too. Without looking, I think the Nomad is a '55.
  16. Very nice build Scott. Maybe its me or the pictures, but the body looks shorter than the real car.
  17. Tried a few combinations distilled water, washer fluid and laquer thinner but not alchohol. To be brief best result I had was windshield washer fluid.
  18. Shoot , no motor pictures
  19. Cool story about that '61, would be nice to see some additional detail pics of that car.
  20. Hobby Lobby sells Deco Art, Folk Art, Anita's craft paints. I wonder really what the difference is. Is one better the other?? I guess the best test would be to try all three if one was so inclined. And after trying different thinner concoctions I wonder if the KISS method is best. Heck, plain water, maybe distilled would work. Seems like the washer fluid is used a lot, maybe most. I don't know how if lacquer thinner reacts. I guess break out the spoons and mix and shoot away!!
  21. Hi Mark, thought I'd send you a private message. Yeah, I was really hoping for a kind of a GS/resto mod thinking it would be a different take on this car but those slots just didn't work out for me. I started by drilling a hole at the top and bottom of the slot ten one in the middle which pretty much took out all the plastic then I cut out what was left of the plastic in the slot. I then took a round file cleaned up the top and bottom. Then I used a small flat file to clean up the in-between, but really the thinnest file I have is too thick. Anyway, it came out really pretty good. BUT, it was a disaster to get the next one to look identicle and thats when I gave up and puttied up the holes.

So now I'm torn between just making a Drag race car or something else. For an authentic drag car the exhaust system really needs to be removed to I'm gonna be interested in how you remove yours. I would think you will also have to remove the gas tank (GS as you know has a fuel cell).

BTW, a guy on ebay is selling a body only of this model on one auction and the chassis only on a seperate auction.

Anyway, I hope your OK with my rant.

    Have a good day.

    Mike

  22. I know I caught a bit of flak for wondering why this has become such a hot kit BUT, that does really look cool Roger.
  23. Attempted the slots and it was a disaster. Got the 1st on to look real good but couldn't get the 2d to look like to the first so I gave up and puttied the holes. Oh well, I really wanted to make it look kinda unique.
  24. I've been trying craft paint and really don't think I have found the right product to thin it or the right ratio. I'm a WIP on this one.
  25. Looking great Tom, The engine detail is impressive.
