  1. Just me, I would have left it with the window frames. Do you have a picture of the car you're copying?? Just curious.
  2. Thanks Trevor. I know I'll never get even close to some of the stuff I see here and I know I'll never go all out but I guess there are times you just have to do some scratch building parts.
  3. Yep, I'm still working on this first scratch building (kind of) project. It's fighting me like crazy but eventually I'll get her done. A couple of interior tub pictures and the engine. I know the shifter I build is a bit large out of scale but I think it looks kinda cool. Used a sewing machine needle and map pin for the ball. And yeah, the shocks are bit large. By the way, the headers are 2mm Aluminum wire.
  4. Awesome truck Jared. I'm sure a few people would like to know the paint system you used, its beautiful.
  5. So based on Trevors post it seems that if all is true (not doubting any of it) Future is clearly (ha, no pun intended...or maybe it is?) not the way to go. There sure are a lot of clears available, its just a matter of what to decide on and using it. I of course and I'm sure a lot of people take and use the recommendations of the Guys' on this forum.
  6. Trevor, are you saying the Torino is cleared with Future? If so, why do you say it's a lousy clear coat? The shine is beautiful.
  7. Thanks for the input guys, I guess now I need to know if to go with the #5 or #3 Tip. The Procon has my attention for sure.
  8. Thanks Eric, nice ad simple. Looks great. No belts?????
  9. Update: It appears you are right Steve. I did an order for the airbrush and put the discount code in and it still showed the $129 price.?
  10. Well Steve, thats a good question. I guess I could try an order online and try to do the discount to see.
  11. Thanks for coments Jeff. Yep, I'd say it's a pretty universal thing to do; the washing the body with dish soap prior to priming/painting. Also I'm pretty sure the steel wool leaves miniscule particles on the surface after using it. After removing the paint from the hood I had painted, it's obvious a little water won't hurt the Createx paint after it dries overnight.
  12. I just happened to look at this thread, and wow what great looking and innovative cars. Would be great subject matter for a model, hmmmm.
  13. The PS-275/290 looks great but the Iwata (for $129.00 less 40% at HobbyLobby) is more in my price range.
  14. Does anyone have the Iwata TR-1 or TR-2 Trigger airbrush? I like the idea of the trigger like a spray gun.
  15. Very very nice '57 you got there Eric. Sometimes simple is better.?
  16. I guess not too many future clear coated black or dark cars huh Josh. I was hoping to see some results.
  17. Thats what I hate about ordering from Hobby Lobby.......them substituting when they don't have what you order. Happened to me about a year ago. I'm pretty sure I ordered the '66 Chevelle Lindberg kit and wound up with the AMT '61 Impala which I have yet to build. Nice model though.
  18. I know what ya mean Dave about now matching the hood color and of course did think about that. I'm guessing just build up the color to a close match.
  19. Glad you posted this Josh as it's relevent to my Createx thread. Hope some good replies come out of this.
  20. Makes sense Dave, another "duuuuuh" moment for me. Actually, I have to redo the hood and was washing the paint off after using windex as was suggested. Trust me, it did'nt come off all that easily.
  21. Looks good Mike (and yet another Mike model car builder LOL). I had been out of the hobby for many many years and also got back started after retirement.
  22. Yep it was Jeff, but I still didn't get my answer about washing after steel wooling between color coats. At least I don't think so? Sorry about all the questions?
  23. Ok, I was confused Josh, I thought you were saying you used steel wool between color coats. I guess you mean between clear coats.
