And Eric, you don't have a problem holding the body tightly????
-
Well I thought it was a pretty good idea since there were already other threads started with specific cars but apparently not. Nuff said? And I guess since I'm old and not so computor savvy I still don't get the tag thingy.
-
Dave, yes that Tamiya x-12 sure does look close to the right color.
-
Looking good to me Eric. The stripes are decals??
-
Josh, I checked out the "wheel arch moulding" tutorial. The gold on that car is the darker gold that model year. The GT40 gold is darn close though.
-
So Josh, the gold GT40 you sent a picture of (the last picture) is a real one right?? And Dave, tomorrow I'm hoping to do some more experimenting with the mixture but still have no clear. Thanks for asking.

No clear. Actually I never do clear, but will have to on my other project we've been discussing on the forum. I'm still thinking the decant, dab on then try to sand/feather out. If that sucks, then go to the repaint the the whole roof, but I'm actually thinking if it comes to that, gloss black. I'm sure hating to have to scrape off and refoil the roof trim though. -

You are right my friend. -
I got one and my problem with it is in order to get the body tight enough to do anything with it you have to squeeze it in on the ends. I'm afraid to warp or hurt the body.

I always try for at least near perfection and always fall well short. Anyway, good suggestion about just making it look like an actual 1:1 car repair or flaw. Not too sure if thats what I want though. Thinking maybe just doing the decant touch up might be the first thing I'll try to do. Thanks for the replies. I'll keep ya'll posted. -
Sitting here not doing too much and since there seems to be an interest Dyno Don's race cars and a couple of '61 Impy threads I thought I'd post these pictures I took quite a while ago. I never did put the decals on but will one day I will (I guess) but I thought it looked cool without them anyway.

I'll be the first to say, Really cool looking build!! Well done Tony?

I guess I should mention its Duplicolor paint. -
Yeah, the Corvette obsession in my younger years cost me a lot and trust me, I spent a lot on finance charges to do so LOL!! Split window best of that generation. Look forward to seeing that one. I've done the old Monogram '53 and the Revell '67 and '68 Roadsters. Want to do the split window too.

This model has been a battle for quite some a while now. And now after fighting the foiling which is now complete (but not so great) I had a spot of black paint where you see the primer showing. So in my infinite wisdom I tried to get the black off rubbing with a damp cloth and thinner and as you can see, here's my result. I'll take any suggestions on what in the heck can I do as a relitively quick fix without redoing the whole roof again which means pulling off all the foil work. Grrrrr!!!!!
-
Whoa, that fuel cell in the trunk shocked me LOL.

Super nice looking showroom '66. Love the color and I'm not even a fan of green LOL!! ?

Great looking 'Vettes of a kind of meh generation. Build up those different gens. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for all them. I personally owned 1:1 '72 454 Convertable, '73 Hardtop, '79 L-82 Hardtop, '86 Z-51 Hardtop, and '93 Hardtop. All were bought used and not in that order. Will always regret selling the '72 as it was a kinda rare 454, 4-speed, Air Conditioned Convertable.
