Nice little kit this, it's the older release with very low parts count and metal axles, but builds up very nicely with very few issues. The headlight pods in the wings needed slight trimming to fit the contour of the headlights, and the hub caps needed shaving on the outer edges to fit in the wheels, otherwise they stuck out and looked odd. Apart from those very small, not really worth mentioning issues, this was a delight to build and looks amazing when completed. One other thing I found is the brake master cylinder on the sprue was so deformed it just looked like a piece of sprue that once had something on it and was hacked off with a chainsaw! So I made my own out of some of the parts tree, other than that I can't fault this kit in any way, I love it. One thing I messed up on was I inverted the colours on the door cards, the silver should be top and bottom with the red in the centre! ah well, what can you do, eh? Lol

Just finished doing the foiling, she's all done! Loved this build, what a lovely little kit. Pictures in completed section.

Where the instructions say the brake master cylinder is on the tree I only seen what looked like a melted piece of sprue, Lol! So I made my own. Not sure if these cars came with a brake servo so I just did a single line non servo version.

Good job. I'd like to take one of these on, seems like a challenge.

Sounds like a plan! I look forward to seeing more on it.

Thanks, Geoff. How's your '57 coming along?

Stunning build! I'm currently building this exact kit but completely stock. It's a great kit, a real pleasure to work with surprisingly being such an old mould. Nice work.

Finally back on this today. I run out of black paint to re-do the underside and didn't get around to getting more until today. Painting is finished, headlights and interior tub are in, and we have a rolling chassis. Just detailing now, and putting it all together. No fit issues, though I did trial fit the headlights before paint and found the bezels didn't fit the contour of the holes. Some light re-shaping of the wings where they sit in and now fit perfectly. There is a gap between the rear bumper and the trunk lid which is filled by a filler piece that attaches to the rear of the floor, I painted it black but that just made the gap more obvious, so I painted the top red and left the bottom black.

I've been looking it up and it looks pretty neat! One on my 'to get' list I think.

ah, ok. We call that style of wheel Rostyle over here, they look similar to Cragars so that's what I called them.

The 1970 Pontiac Bonneville 2 in 1 by MPC has a really nice set of Cragars for the custom version, I used them on my '67 Impala.

Looking great so far. I love builds based on something out of the box.. well, not the actual box, I mean figuratively speaking! Lol -
No unfortunately, I didn't think of it then. There are so many cars I've owned that I wish I took pictures of. The banger track is probably where it ended up. I remember the radio had a cassette stuck in it which prevented the radio from working. For nearly a year the only music I listened to was "The Impressions" Lol. Madam Mary was one track I knew word for word, "She said run to your grocery store Find an old potato Don't forget the buttermilk Bring a ripe tomato" I was always singing along to that one, haha.

That would be easier, haha. Looking forward to seeing this finished. Love American Graffiti! -
Very nice work. Multi coloured patchwork cars were such a common sight when I was growing up, you don't see them at all anymore except at shows.
-
Very nice. I'd love to do a car for my dad, but no kits exist of any of the cars he's ever had.

The frame took a heck of a smash in the movie as it dropped to the floor, kinking up the back end. Are you going to do something to the rear to recreate it? Not something I'd do, I'd be too worried of messing it up, lol! -
Cheers, guys. He appreciates the kind words. He want's to do the '59 Chrysler Imperial next, a kit I've also been wanting to do for a while. Double build! haha,
