Hi Luke, beautiful build! Not familiar with these at all, but I think I need one. I really like the shape. Absolutely flawless, beautiful black paint job. I’m always afraid of black paint jobs... Cheers, Steve

MCM Relaunch Update 10/2020
Steve H replied to larrygre's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
I am definitely in the wait and see camp. I can see both sides, the angry, frustrated group and the hopeful group. I’m in the hopeful group. Let’s remember that most anger is actually fear... so what are you afraid of? I wish Gregg, Larry and the team, whomever they are well. I really look forward to seeing more MCM issues. It’s a hobby, this is supposed to fun remember... -
Hi Claude, The rear fenders are from the Lindberg ‘37 Ford, which I believe are identical to the ‘38 smoothster kit. I did a little test with foil and some Tamiya clear red to see how the tail lights would look. Not perfect, but I think they will look respectable when done. Thanks for the kind words sir. Cheers, Steve

Francis, you are way to kind. Hopefully no surprises during final assembly! It looks like it will come together as I had hoped. I couldn’t resist putting the body back on after painting it red. Still needs a sand, another colour coat then clear and polish, but I think the red really pops. Cheers, Steve

Thanks Tom !! Glad you agree.

1960 Ford F-100 Lightning
Steve H replied to Plowboy's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks Roger, very nice job. Just the right amount of sheen. As for the wheels, I prefer the steels with hub caps, but they both look great on the truck. Cheers, Steve -
Francis, don’t be scared. It’s just a little V6! Ok, it’s blown and would probably have about500-600 HP....what could possibly go wrong? I’m sure the big firestone boots would help keep it pointed in the right direction. Thanks for looking sir. Steve

Steve H replied to Plowboy's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Wow Roger, that thing is a beauty. I love it! Stance... killer, colour choice... perfect, kit bash execution... flawless. I would love to see a better photo of the seat if you have one, it looks outstanding too. Cheers, Steve -
97 gmc sonoma
Steve H replied to Jared Roach's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Hi Jared, yep, I really like this truck. Love the stance, I tend to like ‘em low. The colour is great, and very nicely done, deep and shiny. Beautiful model. Cheers, Steve -
Hi all, Well, finally some real progress! Chassis is almost complete, needs some details and a bit of touch up, but it’s close. Interior is also close, some of it will be assembled with the body. I had two different colours of embossing powder to use for the carpet, one was a bit too bronze, the other a bit too gold, what to do? I decided to mist the interior colour on the embossing powder first, before applying. I have done it in reverse before, applied it then painted it, but I find it loses a bit of its texture that way. Overall, I am quite pleased with how things are looking. And... finally, some colour on the body. I did a final test fit with everything glued, and body in the base gold colour. Everything seems to fit! Just got a couple of thin coats of the red on it, getting excited to see this finished. As always, comments welcome, thanks for looking. Cheers, Steve

Thank you all for the kind words. I really like these little cars. I always thought they had a bit of attitude for a small car. So I wanted to give one a bunch more attitude. I rarely name my builds, but this one I called “Fi-attitude” Thanks for looking, Steve

Hi Claude, thanks for looking. This one was fun, there was a fair bit of head scratching, hmmmmm.... how am I gonna fit all this stuff in that? Cheers, Steve

Thanks Alan! I am not a mechanic, and some of my builds are not “mechanically correct”, but I always try to make them with some degree of “it would work in real life”. Steve

Hi Gareth, enjoyed the WIP thread, finished build is awesome. Beautifully finished sir. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Steve

Hi all, Years ago, SAE did an issue called “Tubs”. It was an entire issue dedicated to pro street, still one of my favourite issues to flip thru. There was a pro street Mini Cooper that was extremely cool. I always wanted to do a similar build, the Fiat seemed a good choice. Anywhooooo... So, I started with the Fujimi kit, and kit bashed it with a Dobberton J2000 chassis. The chassis was widened and shortened to fit the Fiat body. The motor is a V6 from a Buick GN, with the twin blower set up from the Baretta pro street. The Fiat interior was modified to fit the chassis. There are parts box items, including wheels, steering wheel etc. Everything was a tight fit, but Went together fairly well. Paint is Tamiya Thanks for looking, all comments welcome Steve

Hi Jim, beautiful build. I agree with the others, the paint colour is perfect, as is the paint job itself. I also agree with Alan, the black grill (non tinselly) looks great. Cheers, Steve

Hi Alan, thanks for the compliment. Hmmmm, I believe it was Dupli Colour wheel paint that I used. I will dig thru my paint stash and see if it jogs my memory and report back. Steve

Hi Paul, wheel wells are as they were, no mods. The tires did fit perfect. I had played with quite few sets of rear tires, those ones fit “just right” for me. Thanks for the kind words. Steve

Thanks Misha!! A slightly cheeky, but very much appreciated comment. I do occasionally put hoods on my builds. I know pro street is an old trend, but I still love the look. Hope to see you at a local get together soon. Take care. Maybe have a look at the Prius I built for my daughter, it has a hood! Cheers, Steve

Hi Phil, another beautiful build. So many subtle changes that are incredibly well executed, and seamless looking. As many have said on this, and other threads, the builds with a personal connection and story are the best. Hope to you soon, Steve
