Thank you and totally agree about the missed opportunity. There are so many cars used in the series. While I am working on this one I have started to plan out other cars from the show I am going to do. I don't have the whole series on dvd but will most likely end up rewatching a lot of specific episodes for reference. The kit overall is pretty good. I found it somewhat amusing that on the decal sheet is a decal for the underside of the trunk lid but it doesn't come with an opening trunk. It's a fun project overall because I can bounce back and forth between working on the car and scratchbuilding all the trunk stuff.

Well on the way to completing the dashboard when I realized....this is an automatic.....where is the gear indicator???? looks like I will have to make one.

The Bronco looks great. All the individual elements look really good. What I find when doing diorama bases is that I have to ask myself, is the diorama a permanent place the model will sit or a place the main model may be removed from? If it's permeant then you can look at things like weathering or dirtying up the tires and model a little bit and when constructing the dirt area, take the bronco tires and run them through and over it to create tire tracks (even in the grass a little). These little things bring the model and base together cohesively but can look out of place if the model is changed out or displayed off the base. Additionally, a large area of ground like that is hardly ever level and having a rock or two here or there or spotty patched of grass where it would be worn down add realism. You have a great layout and attention to detail. Great idea overall.

Just a quick update...Still working on detailing out the opening of the trunk and under trunk lid. Will be sure to post pictures of those when I am happy with them. For now, here is some other scratchbuilt stuff for the eventual trunk filling. The little brown thing with the wire is going to be a leather bound diary used on the show. The wire is just holding it closed while the glue sets. The bag of salt and hatchet are pretty self explanatory, the other is a stake (vampire killing kind). At the bottom is a cigar box where the main characters keep their fake IDs and credit cards. (I need to square the side off a little more.

They are fun to build. With not many parts you really get to focus on the detailing and weathering. Thank you. Spent most of my life on military models. Cars are actually new to me. Making things new and shine is a lot harder for me.

1967 4 door Impala.

Would like to see some late 60's Toronados come back. Mainly because now that I have and interest there aren't any around.

I may be one of the only people who is building the supernatural Impala as it is on the television show. Got hooked on the show when deployed to Iraq some time ago and been a fan every since. Figured in order to do the kit justice I needed to open the trunk up and include the weapons stash. My first time opening up a trunk so we will see how it goes. So far I managed to get the trunk lid cut off generally cleanly and added some interior trunk trim. Also since the weapons stash is going to have all kinds of stuff in it, I needed to start scratch building things. Started with a flashlight.

Never again will I forget about the body in the plastic bag with a bunch of the below stripper for about 36 hours.

Bit of a thread revival here. (tends to happen when I am searching for something specific and end up going down a rabbit hole) Having just gotten back into car models after years of military armor and artillery (try an early zvezda armor model kit to see what flash can truly be) I don't have the history of fighting my way through some of the older kits. I will say having just started the AMT/ERTL 1969 Mustang, I have some serious issues. The interior tub and some of the components are all from 66 and there is a serious lack of engine compartment and that is just from my initial unboxing....hopefully things improve once I actually start detail and assembly.

Very true. I'm not even sure who or when the whole generation idea came into play and what prompted the end of one and begining of another other than later generations being somewhat drastic changes. Such as the mustang II in 74.

Exactly. The early 70s completely changed the body style. Not to mention the several changes up to that point or the internal changes.
