I've got a sheet of chrome that I can't get to stick for anything. I think there was a bad run for a while.

Coming Soon from Atomic City's JoHan line of new kits
Beans replied to thatz4u's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Point taken, and I agree. Complainers are always going to complain. Social media is almost entirely built on the idea of people just complaining about something or other. As long as they have a stage, there will always be those people who rubber cement a model together, dip it in a bucket of latex house paint, then say it is the manufacturers fault for it not looking as good as all the really great looking models out there. I've learned to ignore the complaints, but I have a teenage daughter in the house so I get lots of practice. -
Coming Soon from Atomic City's JoHan line of new kits
Beans replied to thatz4u's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
In the end, If someone uses the Jo-han name to come up with affordable models, in a subject matter I want, I will buy them. I am cheap and price for me is important. There are lots of really wonderful kits that I just won't pay for. The company name is just that, a name used to generate feelings of nostalgia. An example is my 1:1 motorcycle. I bought an Indian (the new versions made by Polaris after they killed the Victory brand). Not because it was an Indian but because I got a way better deal than HD was willing to give me. All the talk about assemblers vs builders is silly to me. I have just as much pride in the promo I repainted and changed the tires on as I do the models I have built with totally scratch built suspensions, kit bashed engines and detailed interiors. Do what makes you happy and let others do what makes them happy. People will complain about anything and complaining about the complainers is still just complaining. Just so long as everybody keeps building they will keep making kits. -

Same... I remember hearing the music and that clown laughing and thinking OOOOHH BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH here he comes again. Then getting blown to bits. -

Do you make notes/memory aids as you build?
Beans replied to Mattblack's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I make notes when I am away from a project and have an idea. That note goes in my pocket and the the washing machine most times. I should probably keep better notes. It might keep me from forgetting what the plan was for something and then ordering a totally new set of aftermarket parts for something I already ordered aftermarket parts for. I do use pictures though. Lots of reference pictures I print out and keep either in the box or in a folder. -
1972 Ford F100 replica build possible
Beans replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I don't remember if this kit came with the 8 lug wheels as for some reason I remember getting some from Fireball. I can look through my parts box later and see if I still have the kit wheels. -
1972 Ford F100 replica build possible
Beans replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Here is a picture of the above mentioned 4x4 kit (the 1970 but with a grill from the 69 kit). There is no separate trim in the box as i recall. The lower trim is molded in and I had to sand it off as i recall. The molded upper trim can be chromed and painted to match the trim. I sanded it down a little because I didn't want the trim. Ironically, I turned this into a 2 WD. I ended up using all the 4x4 parts on other things or I would send them to you. -
Looks awesome. Great job on the paint and engine detail!! Previous owner seems to have put GM seatbelts in. Overall really outstanding work.

1972 Ford F100 replica build possible
Beans replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This would get you the short bed. 69-72 all have the same body just different grills. you would need a 72 grill. For the 4wd you would probably need to scavenge from a 4wd kit. -
Some of My Unbuilt Stash
Beans replied to Tom99's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Those are all really bad kits...the plastics are filled with toxins and luckily I know how to dispose of them properly. You are going to have to send them all to me....😂 -
Depron foam availability in small quantities

Having never used it for anything myself, I'm curious what you are intending to build with it?? Might help get you a source if we know what you need it for. -

1/25 AMT 1959 Buick "Boondock Bomber"

That's what an annual is!! Now I know. I always thought it was some model or other that was release for one year only or something like that but never knew exactly. -
That Dart is pretty cool. More of the fast attach type of response. I wouldn't want to be in the middle of a tornado in that one....but then again I wouldn't want to be in a tornado at all.

There are quite a few with that type of packaging. Some are just repackaged. But Revell has done quite a few Ferraris. https://www.scalemates.com/search.php?q=ferrari*&fkSECTION[]=Kits&fkTYPENAME[]="Full kits"&fkCOMPNAME[]="Revell"

Very Cheap Airbrushes. A Recipe For Frustration?
Beans replied to Bugatti Fan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I got mine when I was doing a lot more armor modeling and thought the multiple tips would be great for camo on vehicles. I think I only used two ever and because I really had no clue what I was doing, had a junk compressor and had no patience, it never really worked out. I'm pretty sure that was their marketing idea...the camo thing not the no clue thing. -
Very Cheap Airbrushes. A Recipe For Frustration?
Beans replied to Bugatti Fan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I do most of my painting in the garage so the compressor size doesn't matter too much. I ended up with a larger tanked compressor that I use for all kinds of things and have to dial down for air brushing. It is kind of old, kind of noisy and they don't make it any more but it is now part of the working formula of getting decent results. -
Very Cheap Airbrushes. A Recipe For Frustration?
Beans replied to Bugatti Fan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This was my first airbrush....I still have it....I still haven't figured it out. From there I moved to Badger and Paashce and finally a Grex. I still have and use all three because I am weird and each one is for a specific paint. What I ended up learning is that it wasn't the cheap airbrush that was causing me to have lousy results. It was the cheap compressor and my lack of understanding and patience. It took a little while for me to get good results but once I did, I could use almost any of my airbrushes with success (except that aztec one). -
Issue may not be the airbrush. May be compressor. Could be inconsistent pressure, or pulsing, or moisture in the line, too much pressure, too little pressure. Whole bunch of variables and the only real way to figure out what will work best is to experiment with the specific paint you plan on using.
