  1. Here's the 6,000 mile update. and 4,000 of them were in ten days on a trip from WI to CO to see family. We love the truck. Ride is very comfortable, handling is great. Its obviously not a race car, but plenty of pep in it step. It did great in the Rockies, paved and gravel roads. Uphill and downhill. Trans shifted well under load, braking going down the long grades never faded. Engine never got hot, and it was in the 90 to 105 degree range much of the time. We kept the speeds on the highways at 70-75, and overall mileage was 29-31mpg. Very impressive. The computer display seemed to frits a bit once, but it was parked in the sun, in 106 degree heat. The screen rebooted after a minute or two and it was fine after that. I think screens for the windshield are going to be ordered. Just this morning the backup camera froze and locked up, apparently there are a lot of known issues with them in Fords, and we have an appointment Wednesday morning to get it looked at. Other than that we really like the truck.
  2. That does sit nice in the 41. I am sure you will find a wicked powerplant for the 36.
  3. This is going to be great for replica builds. Thank you.
  4. Saw my first Tesla truck on Sunday on the road. Seeing it in real life didn't help it look any better.
  5. That engine is almost unbelievable. Amazing work.
  6. That engine looks great. Very nice detailing.
  7. The intro to Scorpions' Alien nation.
  8. Very nice builds. Good work.
  9. Phenomenal detail in that scale. Very impressive.
  10. Thanks, yes he will enjoy the model and memories. Thank you, it turned out better than i expected.
  11. Or other things in your shop environment that may settle out on the body. Any silicone stuff anywhere will lead to fisheyes in paint.
  12. Nice job on the disassembly. Looking forward to seeing the build, or re-build.
  13. Very nice build. I am one that is struggling with a release of this kit. The headers on the Baldwin Motion big block just don't want to fit between the engine and the frame.
  14. Got some tire/wheel assemblies made up for overhead axle pressing. A coworker upgraded their hay wagon wheels and i got the takeoffs for free. Bought some used iron plates and started drilling. 55 pounds each. Backyard strongman DIY is fun. I'll test them out this weekend.
  15. David, nice build. Yes, this model will mean a lot. And since my Dad is a modeler also (mainly wooden ships) he will really appreciate all the fine detailing.
  16. Another small update. I cut the fender liners off the first body i put them on to, and got them on a body with fewer flaws in casting. Its nice having multiple kits to pick and choose parts from. I also got the heads drilled for plug boots and the block drilled for the dist. I also ran a practice applying chrome trim for the vinyl top on one of the lesser quality bodies. I am pretty pleased with the results for my first attempt.
  17. Correct, not only room for deployment, but reduced chance of arm/hand/wrist injury from blowing your hands off the steering wheel.
  18. As a young man when this car was released, I always liked this front end. Still do.
  19. I was thinking a thread devoted to Heidi... Can't wait to see the progress on the kit. My dad built one of their trains, quite an impressive model.
  20. Signed up for my next Strongman competition. August 10 gives me plenty of time to go through a few heavy lifting cycles. It's been a year since I competed, really looking forward to it again.
  21. I am definitely saving those, thank you very much.
  22. Wow, that looks really nice with the clear on it. Hopefully the wet sanding goes well. That red really pops.
  23. That looks really, really nice. Might have to try out those paints.
