  1. I wasn't sure I could get the cam timing right anyway.
  2. The Valves Springs and Guides aren't the problem I already have those from an old Offy that I was working on until someone else did one in 1/8th. Of course they didn't have the full ports and valves. MFH only had the crank rods and pistons. Actually it was just after this project that I gave up on doing the internals since no one ever sees them anyway.
  3. Here is a pirated copy of the cutaway view. It wasn't great resolution to begin with but I got it cleaned up pretty well. You would never have been able to read the text anyway.
  4. Like I really need another 3>4 year CAD project! Maybe we can get Mad Mike to work one up? And after all it is all about that beast of an engine.

  6. The MFH stuff is over the top in detail and pretty much out of my price range. For all the extra parts and cylinders it wasn't that much more competitive than their V8. I think they only won one of two races before retiring the engine. Still it is a Wicked piece of kit, as it were. Here are a couple of my research pics the last one I believe was from a Road & Track article and my fave.
  7. Clear as mud. They pretty much expect it to reference off that pin on the intake. So, are the 348 and 409 pretty much the same engine just de-stroked? I always liked the valve covers. Did a search and answered my own question they are all W blocks. Found the really cool pic too.
  8. This is an old photo of my SMTS 1/43 BRM H-16. Basically box stock but for aluminum tube intakes and wire snakes. I would expect that, because of the engine layout this would be a good candidate for the engine stress member concept.

  10. So true... and once you've cleaned up you will want that part that you knew exactly where it was and is now in some nebulous place where you though was exactly the perfect place to put it but wasn't.

  12. Plastruct bends and strait tube just like the big boys. Very clean indeed, can't wait to see the finished motor.
  13. Basically the blower drive shaft connects to the drive box at the front.

  15. Your work on the carb is fantastic, especially after seeing what you had to start with! Not that the whole build isn't.

  17. What a Fun build in deed. Way back when I was but knee high to a hubcap my family had a teardrop camper. Your build brings back wonderful memories and answers many questions about the layout of cabinets and so forth. Thanks for sharing!
  18. Love it Bugatti Fan, I'll have to search for more. Now this isn't chrome bur a nice finish anyway. The manifold feed tubes are a combination of Testors spray 'Aluminum Plate' with an over coat of Tamiya 'Anodized Aluminum' that I believe I picked up from the lexan RC paint rack. It drys with a gloss finish but still keeps some of the satin look.

  20. Hi Mike, Glad to have found this forum too, it means making commitments though. Which is not always a bad thing. Lee, I am working on putting together comprehensive production print sets of parts, to get the most bang for the buck, to be followed by getting quotes from 3D print companies. A daunting task with the complexities of this project. I don't have the production capabilities, and I know Mike has a head full of his own projects to keep him busy. Well let you guys know as the project develops. Thanks for all the great responses and interest.
  21. When at first it don't look good do it again. If only they would come out right the first time. I'll have to check out the TMM line, good micro hardware is hard to find.
  22. Yeah, I think carving them in will be the way to go, I'll do some tests before commitment... Kind of like love.
  23. Have to admit that is a Hawk 1/6 weathered version that I picked up cheap to use as reference for my 1/8 stock version.
