  1. This thread could use a better title than... "?" In fact, there was another thread on that very idea. No dis meant, I was just "?"
  2. Well, I sure don't care to start filling spokes, learn resin casting, and finish this in time for NNL East. As it is, most projects never get finished. Another one joins the heap.
  3. The 5-spoke wheels that are available in the Revell '29 pickup have a unique feature, as each spoke appears to have a bolt where the the spoke meets the rim. Any idea what brand of wheel this is? If I wanted to keep the rim chrome, but paint the spokes a cast color, should I also paint the center hub? Thanks.
  4. No. The dissy in q is the six from the Hudson. Using (iirc) a #76 bit in a pin vise, and sanding a level surface on the top of the distributor, I first drilled a center hole for the coil wire, then six more holes around the center hole. This work is easier under a goose neck magnifier lamp.
  5. You mean, don't mention that is a Dunderpoop GT here?
  6. They had a '37 Sedan Delivery...
  7. Good to be at the bench again. I tried a few new (to me) ideas, and thought I would share. I drilled a distributor for plug & coil wires, but rather than glue in each wire individually, I placed each wire in the upright dissy, then using a toothpick, added a few tiny drops of clear flat lacquer instead of glue to the top of the distributor. Model Master’s “Steel” is almost a champaign gold, too bright for what I needed. Plus, it was just started to thicken up. I darkened it with about 15% flat black, plus at least that much Testors clear flat lacquer, with maybe 5% enamel reducer. Worked slick. So tired of buying bottle paint… so I made my own color.
  8. Very nice! Like the black wheels, hood and rear deck. Good contrast with the aluminum body color. The plug wires look interesting. If I may make one suggestion, when you install headlights, notice the engraved line pattern, they should be horizontal & vertical. I place them in position using the corner of a Post-It note. Overall a beautiful build! Thanks for sharing.
  9. This is some amazing stuff! Great scratch-building. Thanks for sharing!
  10. Yes, clear. I bet if you warm the can, and don't spray too fast, you will get a nice flow out and gloss. Oh, and a tack rag... just before you are ready to spray the first coat. Takes away those dust specks!
  11. Waaay back, when I would watch Na$car, they would interview one of the Burton bros, I believe it was Ward. Yes, I believe I can picture him pronouncing "Burick."
  12. When you feel your back hit the wall... that's it. You can't get pushed back any further. It's a sad and unfair turn of events you have experienced. A bad set of circumstances. Now fate, or lady luck... they can only push so far. Now you get to rebound. And you will. Winter can be cruel like this (I like to blame winter!) It's got to get better. Don't throw it in. It will get better. Good luck to you.
  13. Mineral Spirits... the original debonder!
  14. Embossing powder, purchased from Michaels.
  15. Welcome. Go to "Edit Profile". On your current profile, you have just a silhouette for your avatar pic. It should say "Change" somewhere in the avatar. Click that. (Gawd, I hope I got this right!) Now just copy that photo url from your -online photo album- such as Photobucket or Fotki. Paste it in the new avatar box. Ask if you have any probs. And don't be shy, everyone was new at this at one time. Good luck.
  16. Darin, Though I posted my sympathy on your Facebook, I just wanted to again express my sorrow for your loss. Though not sudden, it must still be one of the most difficult events in your life. Hope you find comfort in your family and friends as you move through this experience. Peace.
  17. Shame that someone couldn't / didn't buy the business and take over.
  18. "Yankified". I speak that!
  19. Would be interested to know, since you brought it up, are you, or are you not going to report this to the police? I believe in being 100% pro-active. You get ripped off... you report it. That reaction should come automatic. I would help you with a few kits, but only if you are willing to help yourself. Don't just take it... do something about it.
  20. Wow. Will there be a test?

  22. My bro-in-law is a Porsche snob. He believes the 944S was hand built by God, just for him. Insists that it should be pronounced "Poor-shuh". So naturally everyone in the family responds "Porsche! That's what I said!" He is technically correct, but the fact that he makes such a production of it, and a matter of high importance, we just can't help having a little fun with it! EDIT: I changed it from 924S to the 944S, which it is. My bad.
