  1. I'm calling it finished even though I still need to paint the metal strips in the bed.
  2. Got my Paasche H airbrush last night. Hooked it up this morning to give it a try. I had some Ceramcoat paint so I thinned it with thinner. Took a few try's to get it spraying correctly but I think I finally have it close. I have my air pressure set to 25 PSI. I never change the PSI, I just worked on thinning the paint more. It sprayed the best when it was almost like water. I'll probably practice a lot before I attempt to spray my first kit.
  3. Finally got my Paasche H airbrush in. I had an adapter so I could connect it to my shop compressor. I got it all hooked up and set the air pressure at 25 PSI, mixed up some Ceramcoat paint, and thinned it with Lacquer thinner. I was using the #3 tip that was already installed. I started out with the airbrush spitting out the paint so I figured it was to thick. Thinned it down a couple more time until it seem to start laying down a good pattern of paint. I had to thin the paint until it was almost like water. I assume that's how it needs to be since it was spraying pretty good. I'm going to practice with it a lot before I try and spray my next truck which it the 1956 Foose truck.
  4. Once I got the suspenion dropped to look like my full side 49 the tires and wheels looked better. Since this was my first build in 50+ years I have made my fair share of mistakes. I guess it's a good thing as I know what not to do on the next build. I should have started off with a straight build and not so many modifications. I had to ditch the suspension and use straight steel axles to get it to really drop down. I also could not get the corner windows to fit at all so glued them in the best I could but I don't line them. The windsheld was going great until I touched it with some glue. Well....like I said, this is a learning cure for me. I also swapped the straight 6 for a V8 and I'm trying to shoe horn it in but I think I have it. I'll have to leave the fan blade off though. Here's what I have so far. Done beat me up to bad fellows.
  5. I received my 18" Torque Thrust wheels yesterday from Model Roundup and was not happy with the look. I guess I was thinking they would look the same as my full size 1949 chevy truck. They are just to small. This was my fault as I should have called and ask what the dimensions were before I ordered. When I get out in the garage this morning I'm going to try the wheels out of my 1956 Ford truck (Foose) kit and see how they look.
  6. Nice looking little grocery getter. I just bought the 56 Foose truck kit.
  7. I'm not the expert by no means but this is what I've been doing. If the part won't be seen there is no touch up. If it's a black painted part no primer. If it's a light color and in a high visible area then I would use primer before painting.
  8. I leave my parts on the tree and spray or hand paint. Once dry, cut parts from the tree, trim, touch up.
  9. Thanks for all the info guys. Just placed my order for the Paasche H.
  10. Yup. Putting a V8 in mine and since I added the plug wires I can't get the engine back far enough to install the radiator. This might take an extra cup of coffee this morning to figure out what to do ☺
  11. Picked this up today at 40% off. Great buy.
  12. I found this Paasche H which seems to have good reviews. Anyone have this one that could comment on the quality?
  13. I'll check out the Craft acrylic. Is the needle that comes with the Iwata airbrush I mentioned about ok or would it need a different needle and what size?
  14. Thanks guys. Correct me if I'm wrong. I thought the Createx paints were pre-mixed?
  15. My local Hobby Lobby has the Iwata NEO CN Gravity-Feed Dual Action Airbrush that I'm looking at. They also sell the Wicked and CreateX paint. Is this ok for a beginner and is the paint ok?
  16. Our Hobby Lobby here no longer excepts coupons. You have to keep and eye on their site. I get notices when new ads are being offered.
  17. Thanks man. I haven't build a model in over 50 years. Boy have things changed. Mainly the enterweb for everyone's help and pics. The orange still didn't cover very well but it kinda gives it a weathered look I guess. That's my store and I'm sticking with it ☺
  18. Thanks for all the advise fellows. I got the plug wires installed this morning. Wasn't really sure what to use to get the size that looked good. Found some old telephone line that had red, black, and yellow wire inside. I had to remove all the wires and redo them as the engine would not go back far enough to the firewall to install the fan. It turned out ok I guess but it was tough to work with. I gotta hand it to you guys that have been doing this for a while as what I've seen on this site is just amazing.
  19. Received the ad today. 40% off model kits starting on 3/8/2021.
  20. Thanks. I'm building it as a restomod to look like my 1949 full size pickup.
  21. I'm building the amt 1950 Chevy pickup. This is my first build in many, many years so I don't have a collection of parts available. Anyone ever scratch build a power brake booster?
  22. Thanks for the idea's fellows. Tom, PM sent. Thanks.
