Thank you sir for the great information. Your work is brilliant! I personally brush paint everything and I love Vallejo products but it's great to learn about alternatives. Most of my stuff is posted on Randy Ayer's but I really like the variety on MCM

Your tramway cab is absolutely beautiful. The colors and finishes are so lifelike. I can see the famous spring! The figures are great with very crisp detailing and paint. I have been in the hobby only 5 year and I have used only acrylics for painting. I don't know anything about enamels but the results are superb. Can you explain to this beginner why you selected enamels for your paint of choice?
-
I'll be watching with interest. You might want to make your own spring instead.

Beautiful build. Details of the darker parts are crisper and more visible on the black glossy base pictures. -
What David wants David gets. Engine hoist is done my friend! Slow progress on the rest of the stuff. I got going on the small tools from the Fujimi kit... Small tools at 1/25 scale are very, very, VERY small. Cutting them off the sprue, cleanup, painting and the foolish idea to cleanly glue them to work bench or tool boxes. I survived it...barely. My hat's off to the diorama builders. This stuff takes commitment.

God this baby looks good. It'll be a shame to wrap a body over this gorgeous chassis! -
Thanks David. I have now started on the engine hoist you have "requested" ?

Boxing day! Gotta fill those shelves. I made the boxes by cutting little styrofoam shapes and wrapping them with paper Doing the decals required careful layers of Future over the intended surfaces, dealing and then a flat clear seal.

Waiting with great anticipation. I'm sure it's going to be great! -
Thank you David, this is a great idea and I will definitely go that way. I have to decide if I should go with one of the nice Fujimi hoists or something more "home made" which might fit well into a more rustic style shop. BTW the car exists for real. I'm doing a 2014 era model of the car as it was discovered before the extensive renovation. Here's epic of my body in front of the picture of the car as it was then:

Looking at general placement of the bigger pieces. I plan to develop an engine assembly setup to dress up the center a bit. Lots of small tools, containers, boxes to do to fill up the shelves and benches etc...

One word: perfect! -
Beautiful work David. There are so many great projects going on here. I love your b&w photos. A London foggy night feeling to them. Fabulous!

thank you all for the nice feedback. Sorry if the pictures are not very crisp, I'm trying something new and need to fine tune it.

Steve, you are right these Fujimi tools are great with a lot of delicate details. I also have a set of AMT garage tools (#2) and they are nice but in no way equal to the Fujimi. I'd love to see some of your weathered tools and feel free to post pics on this thread. It's all about learning from each other
-
Thanks guys, i'm learning that with a diorama each piece needs to be treated as an individual project with care for finishes and weathering. Can't rush through it and set any kind of timeline.

Awesome! -
Some close ups of a few completed tools. All 3 from Fujimi kits. I scratch built the support for the acetylene /oxy tanks as well as gauges. Paint and weathering: primer, silver coat, color coat, sanding / scratching through, Vallejo washes and environment products, Tamiya weathering masters.

I built this one about 4 years ago. One of the first cars I did when I started in the hobby. MPC Pepsi Chevelle body (molded in blue thank you very much) over a Monogram GM chassis Finishes brush painted: Vallejo off-white, my own mix of green for the chassis and Future for clear coat Powerslide decals are always perfect but these were the exception. They were very brittle and cracked in many places. I mixed color to match and dit dozens of touch ups. Not perfect but in the end a reasonable result.

This is a lot better than my bug screen & tape job. Thanks for sharing this great tip. Don't mind if I copy this on my next project? -
Beautiful build. How did you make the real spoiler with all these rivets? It's amazing!

Wow, that's taking care of detailing. I don't really understand how you did the last step of the window net but it is fantastic! -
The long blue bench and wood pallets are scratch built but the other tools come from Fujimi and amt tool kits.

David, Thank you for the advice. I have been following Hooper & Co lately. Mighty impressive...mind bogling! Thanks, Pierre
