Great looking Chevelles. I've got this kit in my stash. I like that yellow, maybe the way I go.
-
Jim, it was offered in only 2 colors, Saturn Yellow and Apollo White. It would look good in yellow, but in the old instruction manual which I have it mentions painting the body in Gold Metallic for the B version of the kit which is the custom, and Gloss Yellow for the A version which is stock. The instructions in this kit mentions Yellow or White. I think it will look good in Gold. But it's a model so any color you want would be right.

Waiting on some paint to finish up the 32 Cruiser, so in the meantime I think I will start on this one. I've had several Buicks in the last 40 years including 2 LeSabres and a Regal. I currently own a 2003 LeSabre. I like Buicks, need to find and build more kits. But I've never owned the GSX. Looks like a nice kit, I will painting it Gold Metallic with a black interior and will the build the performance version OOB.

Who makes FS ##### paint these days?
bluestringer replied to customline's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Jim, Vallejo has aircraft color sets. Some of these have the FS numbers. I think they are acrylics. https://acrylicosvallejo.com/en/category/hobby/sets/air-war-en/ -
My Dad served in WW2, but he didn't fly any warbirds. But I do like the old warbirds and some of the more modern aircraft. Here's a couple I'm going to try to get built in the near future. That helo is really nice, it's a Christmas gift from my grand boys. BTW, I can't find any Testor's Gloss Grape at HL, so I'll probably be going hoodless on the 32 until I get some. I did find gloss purple, it my be the same, I'm going to test it and see.

Yea, like the removable top and the spare tire. I may have a top that will work.
-
Thanks. Heck I may have built that back in the day. Too old to remember now.
-
Well after further observation those pin marks do partially show after installing the tub. I'll try and fill them. I'm getting close to finishing, but I forgot to paint the hood parts and I have no more gloss grape. I will need to make a trip to HL to pickup another bottle.

Those on the seat back don't show when it's installed. I'm not very good with the body work but I'm going to try to come up with something to cover those on the floor. My Ollie's did not have those kits, they never have very many of anything. My wheels seem to be ok, I got them all installed without a problem.

I know the 30awg I use is a little out of scale. It looks ok in photos if it's not a close up. 30awg is 0.10" without the insulation. I forget what it mics out at with the insulation. Bill's 0.19" is probably 32awg which would look a lot closer to scale.

I have also bought some pre-made ones from ConnKur and M.A.D. I prefer the ConnKur over the M.A.D.
-
What size wires are you using? I find the kit distributors too small to drill for the 30awg wires I use. I usually cut the cap off and make a new one from styrene tubing so I can get the wires in, then glue it onto the shaft/body. It works, but doesn't look as good.

Finished the exhaust system and got the little interior tub painted. Went with Tamiya XF-21 Sky, looks like sea foam green to me. I'll need to do a little detail painting on it.
-
I don't like the stock tail pipes, look too small to me. I'm going to make some and have them come out the side in front of the rear wheels. I'll make a tip with some aluminum tubing.

Cool looking hot rod Jim.

Thanks. Thanks Bob. Thank you. Thanks Chaz. Thanks Mario.

Sweet looking little hot rod.

Great looking GTO. Nice work.

Wouldn't be a a bad idea to add some cross bracing, it would allow some more points to mount the exhaust. It hasn't got much support as it is, only at the muffler/header connection and the very rear of the frame on the tank. The rear axle has radius bars attached which I guess could be used to help support it. I may look into that.
-
The mufflers are open on one side and it shows when they are installed, didn't like that. So I cut them off the pipes and made some out of styrene tubing. I'll paint them red. I also added some "clamps" on the long header pipes because they wanted to hang down too low. Now they are up closer to the frame.

I knew you would have some ideas. For me it's just a straight OOB street cruiser.

Thanks Bill. I haven't built a full fendered 32, so that's what it will be. I forgot to paint my hood parts while doing the body, and used all my paint. Got to find another bottle of Testor's Gloss Grape, I think I got it at HL.
